Gladbach missing two very important players in Hazard and Raffael. Two key players that would really trouble us. Raffael reminds me of Alan Carvalho who played for Red Bull Salzburg and we all know how much of an impact he had on our European progress. Hopefully he stays put in front of the TV.

Both very good players (possibly 2 of thier best) and would be a major boost if either didn't make the game. I've seen their manager has said they are unlikely to make it, but would wait till Wednesday until ruling a late comeback out.

If you were choosing out of the following over the next two games what would everyone take:

If we were to win one loose one would it be the CL win or the cup win (treble? )

Me I'm after the treble.

Treble.

Treble all day long.

Unlikely as it may be there is another leg we can win should we slip up midweek! Sunday is a 1 off.

Can't give those monkey b#@£&£d's anything. Treble wins it for me.

don't know about you but we always called it the diddy cup.

We have to and will win the league.
Would be nice to win the Scottish Cup - that has prestige.

so comes down to 1st trophy of the year or in Europe after Christmas.

obv would rather have both - but for the sake of the club it has to be in EL (or CL! ) after Christmas. We get very few ops and it looks like will be getting less and less to make big money.

I read that Sky are down 20% on their takings season to date . I hope that is just the start to a trend.

Win on Sunday for me as I want to deprive them of cash and bragging rights but think we could win both but won't be easy.

Defos win the semi, the CL monies in the bank so to speak, and i don't want that mob even getting a sniff of a runners up medal. Nuff said me thinks.

18 Oct 2016 20:12:07
its not that I disagree - would love to pump em again.

just in an either or scenario and historically we have won and lost loads of ragers games but lately we haven't even sniffed at Europe after Christmas - and now it feels we have a real chance.

{Ed007's Note - We were in Europe after Christmas 2 years ago.}

All that's been on sky sports for the last week is Red Monday and oh the big game what a pile of guff it is. EPL is the best marketed league in the world but it's far from the best footballing league. Just a shame too many get suckered in to paying subscription fees for it.

I watched it so guess I'm a sucker but what a terrible match that was.

You get crap games in every league and big games don't always live up to the hype. Agreed though that the league is over hyped.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2016 14:32:00
That's granted mate but when you have sky tv constantly building these games up and billing them as great enough times people buy into it and start to believe the bullshit.

not that i want it to happen lads but what do we valuate moussa in todays transfer market. Could he be our first 20 million player.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

17 Oct 2016 22:53:52
Yeah i think so. 2 seasons time, assuming he at least maintains his form, £20m all day. Wanyama went for £12/ £13 and that's a non goal scoring MF player and before this stupid £5bn sponsor deal the EPL got that has hicked all the prices up.

Guys I can see no reason why won't hammer the tribute act again this weekend. The reality is that we have Better players all over the park and our manager is several levels above The bread man. I'm going for another victory of 3 goals or more!

Agreed Dafabet but avoiding a drubbing on Wednesday night would go a long way towards ensuring that once again Warbo the Hunnite leader is smited by the Timmites in the Den of Hamp. I think the team took a bit of recovering confidence wise after our capitulation in the Nou Camp. A good result on Wednesday and I could see us smiting them even more mightily than they were smited on their last (first) visit to the land of the Timmites.

17 Oct 2016 17:25:02
hope your right dafabet I think whell win but it will be tighter 3 1 to the bhoys hopefully.

17 Oct 2016 17:29:37
On paper we are by far the better team and as you rightly point out, our manager is far superior as well.

What we need to remember though is that we play a tough game on Wednesday and this has a good chance of impacting on our performance on Sunday. In addition, we have much less time to prepare for the game, as Rodgers is likely only to get two days with the players on the training field.

Yes we should win the game but I don't think it will be as easy as it was last time but hope I'm wrong and we annihilate them again.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Oct 2016 19:01:56
I think we have to take into account we have a tough game Wednesday while they r just preparing for us. Another leveller will no doubt be the pitch . Hampden can't take two games in a weekend and no doubt it will be chopped up . I'd take any win at the minute although I honestly think we have a chance of winning all our games against them this year. I can never understand why if they need to play both semis at hampden, why they don't do it over two weekends. Surely the sfa want the best product they can put out to tv audiences from around the world. The league gets looked down on enough without the national pitch semi final like a bog.

17 Oct 2016 20:18:20
I think it will be a tougher game than last time out.
It's coming on the back of a tough CL game and it's at the dreaded hampden park.

With that in mind I still think we have enough to get the job done I'm just not expecting 5.

The Rangers will moan that the break between Friday night until Sunday week was too long and put them at a disadvantage.

Attention to the CL now, and I think 4 points against BM is certainly achievable. Generally speaking I feel they're vetter on paper, but it's not played on paper. They're struggling to adapt to their new system/ shape and are going to be missing some of their most dangerous players. They play with a back 3 and wing backs typically. I can see them playing quite flat mostly away from home, which should allow us to dictate things. If and when they do decide to push on, I feel we've got what it takes in the forward and wide areas to punish them. It might realistically be a race for the EL between us and BM, but I think wednesday could be a cracker.

Let's hope they turn up just on paper then. That will be easy.

17 Oct 2016 16:17:09
Sorry Jimtim but it is guys like you and a couple of my own tim mates who seem to think wednesday's game is already in the bag, all German teams are physically strong, well drilled and extremely fit, it will take a big big effort on our part to win. Also our european away form is nothing to write home about so even hoping for a draw there is a big ask, Celtic must improve in these away games to merit anything.
My mates are already counting the points because they "might" have a couple of players injured, but it never works out that way. I guarantee this game on wednesday will be as hard, if not harder than the other 2 games we have already played.
To end on a positive note, I think Rodgers has already changed our mindset and the players are more positive approaching these big games, so hopefully a hard 1-0 victory for us.

17 Oct 2016 16:40:35
There will be nothing easy on Wednesday night Timalloy and I think most of our fans know it . If we are to win on Wednesday night we need the whole team and the subs used all to play out of their skin .
Luckily enough we have Brendan Rodgers who is very adept at getting the best out of his charges and so I am looking forward to a brilliant game and the right result.

Nobody I know thinks it's in the bag on Wednesday. If your mates do they don't seem the brightest.

This is a Bundesliga top four club.

They are still favourites.

I don't think it's in the bag at all. I know they're a good side, I acknowledged that they have some better players than ours. All I said was that a win was achievable, no harm in guys like me.

17 Oct 2016 19:04:39
I agree jimtim, I don't read your post as this game being straight forward for Celtic. Like you I feel if we're to make the Europa league, or at least give ourselves a chance of it then Wednesday is a must win for us. Every honest Celtic fan knows how good and well organised German teams are but IF, and I say IF they have the injuries that are being reported we really need to try and take full advantage of that. All that being said it in no way means this is a stone wall 3 points. If we put in the same desire, determination etc as the man city game then the Germans will know they've had to work hard to take anything from the game.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Oct 2016 20:01:46
I'd like us not to ship 3 ourselves again Garry don't get me wrong, but like you say IF, without leaving ourselves too exposed of course, we can press and harry the way we did against City, and make them work as hard as we did then, we can do them. A wee bit of positivity now and again is ok.

Guys I think we may struggle with the Germans. I watch quite a bit of European games and there league position should not be touted as a reflection of there performances. Someone touched on it above, German team are all ruthlessly efficient, they hold formation well and can move the ball around quick, not to mention for the most part they are pretty big lads. I think yeah we can get 3pts from Wed night, but at what cost. My main concern is carrying a tired team into the cup game. Remember after Man C game, we struggled at Dundee for the same reason. I would like to think we still have to much for the huns but I don't want to tempt fate here. Personally I can't wait till its past the now, because 2 do-ins in a row would be unanswerable. If they do the un thinkable and put us out another cup, well, its not worth thinking about.
