Ed, I KNOW it's not exactly top of the list at the moment, but as I passed Paradise yesterday and really took in how good it looks now, I wondered if you could shed any light on the car park thing? What I mean is that when plans were first submitted to GCC the old school was earmarked for redevelopment as part of the 'Triangle'. A lot of this has come to fruition. Hub, Celtic Way, fresh cladding etc. just seems that we now have a car park and not a new ticket office and museum (or whatever) . Just saying.

{Ed007's Note - The parking situation is ridiculous, Davie and is the main reason I don't get to as many games as I'd like.}

17 Jun 2016 23:52:34
I know mate, sorry. Hope yer well, bud.

{Ed007's Note - I'm fine thanks mate.}

17 Jun 2016 23:56:48
I always park at the high flats just past the retail park but I'm a bit worried it's going to be much tougher to get a space this season.

Great car parking facilities just down from Celtic park - and they only cost a £1!
Pay when you return - I'm all for budding young entrepreneurs/ security guards.

Ha ha Island! Been a few years since I've managed to a game but those wee guys have been doing that for generations :l.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The wee guys only get a wage, it's an organised and murky world to get mixed up in, Davie.}

18 Jun 2016 17:32:10
They have that Davie, I mind them when I used to go up to CP in the car with the uncles and cousins in the 90's, have to pay them before you leave or you can't park there the next game.

Evening Ed, Do you think we and a few others missed our vocation in life?

Imagine getting paid to be a cameraman picking out the top notch burdz in the crowd and highlighting them ;P

A hard life so it is and not a Big Isa in sight :P.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be surprised if they're being paid to be there.}

17 Jun 2016 17:34:45
Hi Ed, A lot has been said about us showing serious intent when we brought in BR. Surely, unless we strengthen the team, all that the board have done is conned the supporters into buying season tickets while covering BRs salary by getting rid of some of the dead wood. If no one of any stature is bought, this could once again turn out to be the cheapest option for them.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I'm not exactly over the moon with Rodgers' appointment but I think it's a bit early to be start worrying or moaning about lack of activity.}

17 Jun 2016 22:01:23
I realise the qualifiers are not far away but we can't do much serious business until the window opens and clearing the deadwood was well overdue and will give the club a realistic budget without paying 'ghost' wages.
Another disadvantage is the Euros, which acts as a huge shop window, generating competition and inflating prices, while encouraging players to hold out until the last minute before committing.
It must be obvious to the board that even with a new manager, the current squad are short of CL quality in key areas and we must hope this will be addressed as best we can, with one or three class additions?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 02:40:24
Why don't we all settle down and wait till BR has had time to assess the squad before we start complaining.

I am very pleased that Brendan Rodgers hasn't bought players before he has an opportunity to see and talk to our existing players . Whether we like it or not our existing players will form the back-bone and foundation of our team at least for the incoming season and for many more to come . We need players that in B R eyes will make our first team stronger and so he can't do that with his eyes shut to what we have .
I know the media and some impatient posters are demanding players bought just for the sake of buying but B R budget isn't finite and so he needs to be careful and know he is buying and how it fits in.

Got 2 nice priced horses in the last 2 races at Ascot tomorrow, and as Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori are neck and neck for top jockey at Ascot worth an each way punt with bookies paying 5 places.
The Happy Prince 16/ 1 (Moore)
Sandro Bottecelli 11/ 1 (Dettori)
do small win/ each way singles and a win/ each way double.

ED007 I am a wee bit worried that Griffiths is not getting the rest he needs during pre season as he is in Tenerife with four of his children and TWO wives.
Also worried he likes this polyagamus life too much and may move all FIVE wives and girlfriends into his home.
One positive thing is that he has bought season tickets for ALL his children and their mums thus ensuring the Jock Stein rear stand fully sold out lol.

I'd imagine we'd have the better chance, especially with BR in the dugout but it could be the usual lazy journalists taking one team's target and touting him for the other.

17 Jun 2016 15:55:16
Liverpool had to pay £8 million for him after the tribunal ruled that is what they needed to pay Burnley.

It would probably take at least that to get him in. We won't be prepared to go that high and Sevco certainly don't have that kind of money so I don't expect to see him in the SPFL any time soon but a better link than Danny Graham!

Pure nonsense from the Main Stream Scottish Media. Regarding rumours they have one very strong principle, the more rumours they make up and print, the better chance there is of them getting one correct.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 16:46:45
It's not even about them getting them correct chris. It's all about them accumulating hits. Or 30p from whoever actually buys a paper anymore. Obviouly they have to draw a line with regards to their reputation, so link us with any player who has any connection to BR. It's 2+2 stuff at the moment, on a daily basis.

I think it's a loan move which is being spoken about which is in no way beyond the realms of possibility. He was out for almost the whole of last season with an injury so it may sit Liverpool to get him up to speed elsewhere.

Kev

Maybe for us but do you think he would get a game before Kenny Miller? ;)

Niall I'm sure I heard Liverpool want Kenny Miller as part of any potential deal haha.

{Ed007's Note - Liverpool haven't made any plans for Ings to go out on loan.}

Our 1st games not til the 27th of August! Against the sheep shaggers! The friendly we've arranged is on the 13th because we were meant to be at home to Patrick that day! No idea why we're away 1st! Sevco is on the 10th of September, but will be moved to the Sunday no doubt!

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Jun 2016 10:27:50
I think we were at Pittodrie at the start of last season or the one before and I don't know why or when the decision was made not to have the champions unfurling the flag on opening day? However it was a stick- on that Sevco would be at home against a bottom six team.
SLY have been pushing the obsolete Old Firm garbage this morning during their Sevco party political broadcast and I'm glad I am cancelling my contract at the end of June.
Between them having a competition to see how many times they can say England in every sentence - no matter the sport and their clear allegiance to Govan, I refuse to donate a considerable monthly sum for so little enjoyment.

17 Jun 2016 10:31:58
We've had an away game the last couple of season have we not?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 10:50:34
I know the club earn money from these friendlies, but I don't think we should postpone league games to play them.
The season starts on the 6th August, yet our first home match isn't until the 27th August, how stupid is that.
It just shows that for all the talk about how important the fans are to the club, it seems we play second fiddle to chasing cash in a meaningless friendly.
They should put their efforts into qualifying for the Champions league, that's best way to ensure money comes into the club.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Jun 2016 11:52:05
Surely as champions it wouldn't be to hard to give us a home game to unfurl the flag as fixtures even themselves out anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 12:08:32
It's away first because we want to cancel a fixture to play inter Milan and it must be a home game you cancel. As the friendly is on the second week of the season we must therefor start away from home. No conspiracy it's our choice or rather the clubs choice to yet again play catch up.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 12:11:28
the flag will be unfurled at our 1st champions league game at the request of the club h. h.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 16:37:16
Why do some people try to create a division between he board and the fans . Surely no sane Celtic fan could criticise he board for participating in this competition in July and August . The board have a duty to make as much money as possibly o provide funds for the first team squad
Us fans and the board all want the one thing success.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 17:29:19
Jim1972, did we request it a while ago and the SPFL have generated the games with the friendly in mind? If so could they not have given us 2 home games to let us unfurl the flag or does it need to be home and away alternatively?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 19:28:46
Old bhoy, it's not about creating divisions with the board, I don't think that any team should be postponing league matches to play meaningless friendlies. Do you think that UEFA would allow us to cancel a Champions league game if we could find a more lucrative game somewhere else?, I would think that they'd tell us where to go.
Jim 1972,I would imagine that they wouldn't give us 2 home matches at the start of the season as that would mean that Sevco would have to have 2 away matches, imagine the fuss they'd make if that happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 20:21:59
Kev it's only fair that every team has the opportunity to play at home either first week or second week it's Celtic who have chosen to inconvenience fans. @ oldbhoy it's a completely pointless match for Celtic and I would rather get on with our league matches as no doubt some will complain the players are tired at some point and what do we gain if we pick up a stupid injury. Ps would you not prefer a competitive match in a sunny August Saturday as opposed to a cold wet Wednesday in January as the calendar will be pretty full till new year with league cup revamp and Europe?

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 01:08:40
Jim1972 . You don't know if these three matches are completely pointless or not .
I very much doubt if they are pointless as I expect Celtic to make a lot of money from playing in this tournaments .

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 07:27:51
I didn't say the 3 matches were pointless just the inter Milan game. We will have started our euro campaign and our league is started so these should be our focus IMO. In all honesty what do we gain from playing a team who couldn't qualify for Europe? I notice you completely body swerved when you would rather play a competitive match August or January? It's good to make some money but it would be better to make progress and let's not give any encouragement to all competitors who will say they can win the league by falling behind in league matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 00:23:54
IT is a wonderful boast for the club to be invited into this " tournament" we have been honoured and the board members concerned about raising money would tell you this was a God send and would be deeply indebted to Organisers and sponsors . I cannot believe that any Celtic fan is not delighted with these matches .
The money will be great let us hope it is spent right.
