Congrats to Henrik Stenson who apparently is a good Celtic fan on winning the Open. According to mouthpiece Joey Barton Phil Mickleson and his caddy are keen on Sevco. So a nice wee result this Sunday Evening. Hail Hail.

You wouldn't expect a Swede called Henrik to be anything other than a Tim could you?

He was at the govan asbestos dome (aka ibrox) last week for a golf night before The Open and was asked about scottish football he said he is a big Celtic fan and Henrik Larsson was his favourite player of all time. there's a few interviews online with him saying he is a big Celtic fan.

I see the rotten side of Glasgow are close to signing that dodoo I'm just curious why we don't take him. He's a great young striker with a few goals to his name especially when 1 more striker in the squad is necessary.

Why would we want to sign someone just because the newest team in Scotland wanted to sign them? if he was any good he wouldn't be going there for a start plus the only team ever to take interest in him was bristol rovers says it all really.

Agree3 Disagree5

17 Jul 2016 22:40:23
That's not what he said. He said we should sign him becauSe in his opinion he was good.

18 Jul 2016 01:21:42
The manky mob were only interested in him because he is out of contract and that's their budget. feck all!

Why are we so sure on Duffy did I miss something bookies still have us behind Swansea what changed?

Just asking do we really need Scott Sinclair?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

17 Jul 2016 13:44:04
If that's who the manager wants then yes we do.

Agree6 Disagree2

17 Jul 2016 13:48:01
We definitely need a natural left winger that's for sure. Sinclair fits the bill if he recaptures his form when he worked with Rodgers previously.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 13:51:13
Sinclair is a very good player and would be a classy addition to the squad. I don't think Celtic could afford his wages though if honest. Defence should be the priority at the minute though.

Agree2 Disagree3

17 Jul 2016 15:26:10
Kev. So if the manager wants to start efe as first choice cb then we do?

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 15:33:35
Sinclair had one decent spell for 18 month around 5 year ago which got him his city move . he's been loaned out 9 times before and after that . either he's got an attitude problem lazy or just shite. or all three.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jul 2016 16:16:10
DPR the manager is trying to change things and bring it HIS players.
Now if he feels the guys he has at his disposal aren't good enough and need replace and he goes after a player he has worked with before who he thinks is better than what we have I'd say ye we need him

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 16:41:52
He's better than Forrest and we have no wingers and he's about best we could hope for. Plus I think he's more than good enough for us.

The football world is becoming stranger and stranger, Celtic have just recently employed what most of us regarded as a top class manager ideal for us . Now after just one competitive game we are questioning his choice of signings and even selection of teams . Why does us fans know so much and managers so little?

Football is a game of opinions . That's what I love after the game. sitting in the pub discussing the game and sometimes you would derived what game your mates were at as they would have totally different points and views too me.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 18:27:13
I was addressing old bhoy . our club has seen over the years how painfully fallable managers are in signings . team selections and systems . witnessed most recently by the worst defeat in our history . I will never claim to know better but I won't be a sheep like old bhoy or anybody else and blindly follow . the only voice I have is on sites like these and I will use it to praise question or condemn the team / management. . i'm not looking for agreement just voicing my own opinion .

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jul 2016 18:36:47
Isn't that what old bhoy was doing also.
Voicing his opinion that fans are to quick to jump on new managers and players now a days before they have even had a real chance at our club??

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 19:01:40
Not the way I read it. I read it as the managers are always right yours or any fans opininion doesn't count . if that's the case why have any discussion with fellow fans if it's a blinkered attitude of the manager will always be right? If I read him wrong he can let me know.

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Jul 2016 20:55:27
What I was trying to say is that some fans on here can't wait to point out that our manager is either pish or wonderful . B R seems to be pish just now, with posters knowing better targets and better formations . Why can we not wait until we have an opportunity to know .
As far as being a sheep and following the one voice, all I am trying to do as a mere supporter is to support, encourage and help to build confidence in our manager and players, telling either that they are pish on a continuous basis is not the way to build up confidence .
We all claim to be members of the one family, I am sure fathers and mothers always praise their children's efforts in what ever sport etc they participate .
Why do so many of us persist in doing the opposite.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 22:53:13
Old bhoy . his first competitive game was the worst result in our history . criticism deserved. I've watched football long enough (17th celtic manager and counting) to have a certain knowledge of the game . know who looks a player or not I've seen duds aplenty come here and the majority of fans scratch their heads in bemusement at the signings. but if a manager deems him necessary and its obvoous the player is crap I can't make an observation? Setting up a team formation how I'd like a team to play etc it's not alchemy but because the vast majority of us can't kck a barn door doesn't mean we don't have valid points . criticism when its due is a part of learning and development is it not. I don't claim to be part of the same family I find stuff like that a bit cringworthy but each to their own . if your son was boxing and he kept bobbing when he should have weaved . or pranced about with his hands at his side with no guard would you still encourage and praise him?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2016 01:45:20
Deep river bhoy I would encourage him to stop prancing about with hands at his side and no guard . I encourage him to listen to his seconds and praise him for all he has done well and encourage him to address his weaker points and build his confidence by praising his good points and work on his weaker ones . Change by encouragement not by berating.

just been reading a lot of posts on here and have to say there are a lot of doom and gloom merchants now I know I've posted a few bad comments myself but on the whole I'd say we we should keep the faith I we'll sign duffy and a few more players probably couple more defenders.

we need to get Stuart Armstrong back in the middle of the park and back to the player he was when we signed him. i never understood why we bought one of the best centre-mids in the country and then played him out wide. i think he would be most effective playing at the front of a diamond four with a proper ball-winning holding midfielder.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

17 Jul 2016 11:37:19
I think the biggest problem at the club is playing players out of position. Gone are the days when you need a left winger you go and get one. We seem to play a lot of players out of position theses days and have done for years now. What has happened to we need right back so we sign right back, and so on.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 13:12:39
Is he good enpugh to play the front of a diamond? Does he have the goals in him?

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jul 2016 13:45:05
I think Armstrong could easily play as the deeper midfielder tae.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 15:35:12
I think Armstrong is quite dynamimc plenty of energy if played in right pos he has goals in him and a great engine just needs a run of games.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 16:15:16
I'd have him just as a bog standard cm. Don't think he is quite there to be a defensive mid, as for him being used as a am in a diamond that's not for me his shooting has been way off recently . I've lost count of the amount of shots he has hit over the bar.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 16:59:55
Armstrong could hit a rich vein of form anytime and score a whole go of goals . Not every player scores with every shot . The Euro's winners have had Ronaldo taking all frees outside the box, yet it's years since he actually scored one . Armstrong has always been a versatile midfielder from his days at Dundee Utd and I am sure he is happy that he can play in a variety of midfield positions, as it gives him more opportunity to be picked . IMO Armstrong is a hard worker who gives of his best.

I hope the rumours about Duffy are true as he looks a good addition - fast, likes a tackle. can see him pairing up well with big Erik.
what's happening with Simunovic though?

also. despite all the names bein banded about the one thing we desperately need is a playmaker. a bit of creativity we have missed since the likes of Lubo and Naka.
hate to say it but Broonie looks done to me and meeds to be.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

17 Jul 2016 11:24:55
Simunovic will just have to compete for his place like the other two. Teams like ours should have 4 good centre halves

Getting concerned at the lack of signings - as usual we leave it till the last minute. Sick of reading about every fringe Liverpool player as if BR only looks at players in front of his face at Anfield - usual lazy media, I certainly hope he looks to Europe, so far he's been shrewd let's hope we hear some surprising and pleasing news soon. HH.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

17 Jul 2016 11:14:26
I honestly do think BR has a couple of big signings in the pipeline but, as usual, these will be hinging on Champs League Qualification.
Apparently Duffy will be signed in time for the next round which plugs an obvious gap - but we really need a creative playmaker and i also think we need a little bit more cover up front incase Griff or Dembele get injured.
the midfield doesn't just need trimmed down it needs freshened up with some real quality - SB and NB just aren't cutting it for me!

Agree2 Disagree1

17 Jul 2016 21:01:26
There maybe or may not be truth in the rumour that Celtic always wait until their Champions League Qualification has been determined . Quality players whom we hope the club are after., have a right to take their time to wait to see if a vastly superior offer comes their way . It is possible that Celtic can do their best and the player will still wait until the closing days of the window.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 07:37:38
Forrest will go and commons can't play the way BR wants. Mulgrew looking for someone to sign him up. Best thing this year is young players also getting a chance. BR has to find his best team. Need a steady and injury free cb. Keep the faith!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

17 Jul 2016 17:01:49
I doubt if Commons can play the way any manager with ambitions to win.

17 Jul 2016 02:20:57
Some nice periods of procession today but until you are transferring it onto the scoreboard you are vulnerable. We haven't had a worthy pair up front in a while or a game plan to support a front 2.

Has all the Scott Sinclair talk stopped? If so does anyone think maybe try a move for Pione Sisto from Sviatchenko's old mob?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

17 Jul 2016 09:43:39
Sisto is top quality also he plays on left which is what we need wish we'd sign him but he will likely go where there's more money up for grabs.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 13:52:18
Maybe so but Dembele would have had offers from clubs with more money just think he's exactly what's missing atm.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 16:22:19
We were lucky to get dembele on the wags we offer. Credit to the lad that he want's to play football for half the wage he would of got sitting on the bench elsewhere.

I totally agree. We certainly need to play Armstrong in the middle of midfield. He looked good there against wolfsberg.
