I was having a chuckle at LG when he said BR had balls. The cut to the studio afterwards, wgs was trying to compose himself when camera was back on him.

Awe, I kept reading yer posts, and wodering why 5 goals was great. I tell ye why, I thought the final score was 3-2 and I was shouting at the screen, AYE 5 Goals, but 2 were by them! I could not understand ye all. Then I decided to look at the final score. woo hoo, we scored 5! What a diddy I am.

I was one of the guys that said brown was done but it's great to have our captain back ever since kolo came it's brought him back that bite and drive superb.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2016 22:53:31
Couldn't agree more Gordo, with Toure marshalling the defence it's allowing our Captain to concentrate on his own game without worrying about everyone else's. It was a cracking goal and such an important one. Hail Hail.

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Aug 2016 22:53:43
I think its more to do with BR than kolo mate, everyone has raised their game.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 23:06:18
I second tbat gordo. One of best performance i have seen with brown. Bossed the midfield.

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Aug 2016 23:25:41
I don't want to give him any credit but could Barton's comments have fired him up a bit? Also playing injury free for the first time in years.

Agree1 Disagree5

17 Aug 2016 23:55:53
Who really cares what joey "jailbait" Barton says. He is a blowhard to is trying to piss everyone off because he was not offered a contract at us. But he is right in one thing he says Broony is not in his league Broony is a step up from that moron.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2016 00:09:05
Niallh naw it's **** all to do with them. That's the best atmosphere I've witnessed in paradise for a long time, that must've been amazing to hear as a player. Kolo at the back marshalling the defence for me was a major factor in browns performance, it must be reassuring for a midfielder to have that behind u! But brendans tactics can't be overlooked he got it spot on again bhoys. Did anyone hear Griffiths on the radio on the way home from the game saying if that was last year it would've been 3-3? Just shows how little respect the players had for deila, a bit disrespectful I thought, for someone who's celtic career was saved by Ronnie I thought he could've shown a bit more respect. Anyway I'm one happy bhoy tonight, hope the wife's still up to round the night off nicely. Hail hail! That's what u call bringing the thunder back!

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Aug 2016 00:46:03
He told the truth and every celtic man was thinking the same, anno a was and so we the bhoys I was with.

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Aug 2016 22:36:04
Overall really chuffed with that. We had our usual wobbly for 5 minutes but apart from that dominated and scored 5 against a team who apparently are rock solid defensively. One disappointment was that I felt Sinclair and Forrest went missing at 3-2.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

18 Aug 2016 00:10:36
Well sinclair got clobbered early doors so that might have been his excuse.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:33:03
Who got credited for the goal fae the corner
Biton or dembele?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

17 Aug 2016 22:31:42
Agree with most. Another amazing night in joys of following the Hoops. I can see that being CG last game for a while and I am not disappointed by that. McGregor is a good squad player and hopefully we add a steely midfielder that he can learn from as he has a lot of positives just bit more experience and I'm sure he will be a long servant to celtic.
I am very positive and excited for games too come as we will only get stronger, fitter and more clinical. Could be a historic season. COYBIG
In Brendan we trust.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

17 Aug 2016 22:54:10
Might be right with cg. With subs needed Mcgregor was chosen and hooked after trying to play offside and rogic after a poor free kick/ corner and going off the boil.
BR wants this keeper as his no1.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 23:00:43
Jmac you are well off the mark with your Gordon comment, he had no chance of any of those strikes. By your reckoning the keeper should have got the Griffiths free kick and I suppose his great save at 3-2 was, well that's what he's paid to do. The team played well and I would have bit your hand off for that score before the game started even though they have 2 away goals. Hail Hail.

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Aug 2016 23:35:25
Gordon shouldn't have been beat at either goal. Talkin aboot?

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Aug 2016 00:08:21
First goal shouldn't have been beaten. Second goal is a quality strike.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - You can't really fault Gordon for the second, that's like saying their GK should have save Griffiths free-kick.}

18 Aug 2016 22:06:06
Can fault Mcgregor and Gordon for the first terrible from either but Gordon had an okay game and made one important save.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2016 22:24:32
Jesus mammy mary and joseph. I love being a Tim. lol need a new heart and my kids need new eardrums. I think we will score over there and as they must attack now we could put them away early. Think McGregor was a wee bit lazy tonight but apart from that a good team performance. This time last year we would have buckled and lost 4 3. In Brendan we trust. HH.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

17 Aug 2016 22:45:51
Agreed with mcgregor! I think with how attacking our team is we need some one more defensive minded! I really think bitton will come on leaps and bounds under Rodgers!

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:48:10
Great performance - other than 5 second half minutes- which hopefully will take us through to the promised land of the group stage. As thought though the flag happy brigade didn't disappoint. Hope there's a way CFC can identify those we chose defiance and ban them from CP or, if possible make them pay the predictable fine will be issued.

Agree1 Disagree4

18 Aug 2016 00:30:09
Am going to say now, a hit disagree there because u just had to comment on the flags didn't u? The green brigade had as much influence on that game as any player/ manager. Class from first whistle to last. The flags were no different to any other game so good on them.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2016 22:09:15
Ok What are the good points and what are the bad. Good result some great play and whoever said Griffiths couldn't do it in europe. Forrest had his best game in years When was the last year we scored 5 in Europe.
All in all very happy how much have we come on in 6 weeks, Still mistakes in defence but a lot less than in the past. When BR gets everything he wants we will be a completely different team. Finaly i would like to offer my unreserved apology to O'Connell I thought he was slow cumbersome and unfit last year. Well i am sorry I thought he had a great game tackled hard won his ball and passing fabulously good luck to him in the future.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2016 22:50:21
Disagree with forrest statement thought he was better against astana.

Agree2 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:05:12
Gordon- should have done better with the first at near post.

Lustig- was having a typical Lustig steady game until the first goal. Think he should have done a bit better there.

Toure- another who was having a good game until the first goal. Should have been back quicker.

Oconnell- played well

Tierney- given more trouble than he is use to.
Was stretch at times but played well

Brown- captains performance. Was everywhere in first half then dug deep in the second half. Important goal.

Mcgregor- workedd hard. Hassled and harried them but not his best game.

Rogic- started great. Cool finish. Faded a bit.
Good game.

Sinclaire- tried a lot of things that didn't come off. OK game

Forrest- like sinclaire tried a lot that didn't come off but worked hard. Grest cross for goal. OK game.

Griffith- to great goals. Worked hard
Typical Griffiths performance. Good game.

Biton- came on added composure and helped get a grip of the game again. Good performance.

Janko- just not convinced by him at all.
Worked hard and played ok.

Dembele- worked hard put himself about but must hold up the ball a bit better.

17 Aug 2016 23:04:45
Thought Toure was great tomight. Gordon might have lost the gloves, thought McGregor was quietly great in the first half. Sinclair stretched the defense opening up space for others, particularly Griff. Best game I've seen fron Forest in a while, Griff, man of the match. I agree with Janko, gave away to many balls, all in all, get it right roon all the soothsayers that said we would crumble tonight. 3 up going into the next leg. Am happy.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:03:38
Great steely performance tonight! Showed courage to regain composure after a mad 2 minutes, also just seen that Shane Duffy scored 2 own goals tonight so 3 in 2 games surely that's not a player we are still considering?

Believable6 Unbelievable4

17 Aug 2016 22:32:23
Duffy also got sent off! Dodged a bullet there.

Agree2 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:02:35
Bhoys and ghirls what a result ed if that was last year I think we would have crumbled what a team spirit big kolo was immense.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

17 Aug 2016 21:51:24
Hope its not like this every game, don't think ma ticker would take it, apart from a dodgy 5 mins we were excellent, watching tonight reminded me of the great man tommy burns style of play, fantastic performance.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2016 21:46:08
Bottle and guts and a bit of luck. Mon the Hoops! 5 goals shows how far we've came under Brendan already. But Jesus shut the back door.

17 Aug 2016 21:56:49
Elation to deflation and then relief. Just another night watching Celtic in Europe.

After watching the game I think Gordon's time is up. Far too many mistakes and beaten with their first 2 shots on target. I have to bow to Ed007s superior knowledge as I actually told him he was wrong about Gordon.

Janko isn't good enough and Lustig needs an able deputy as he isn't fit enough to play every game.

I like McGregor but as a squad player. With Brown looking like he is getting back onto a game Bitton might be the answer in beside him if we don't buy.

Sinclair was quiet in the second half. Maybe fitness as Villa started pre-season later than us.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:03:40
Got to disagree bud, if Kolo wasnt playing so far up there wouldn't have been a chance for the first goal,

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I said that on the live chat, Toure was caught miles out of position and was beaten in their half. I don't know why he moved over there rather than try and get back into the CB position.}

17 Aug 2016 22:09:11
i think he was trying to impress a bit too much Ed,

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It's just one of those things that happens but McGregor seems to be the new scapegoat.}

17 Aug 2016 22:16:38
Although Toure has had a positive start to his Celtic career, if Ambrose had made that mistake, there would have been a riot.
I have been sounding out warnings for over a year about Flush Gordon and tonight he had three shots to save in the whole game and conceded twice, Great Celtic teams always had a solid last line.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:19:26
Toure was caught out a few times, looked a bit sluggish. fine in spl not so in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - He still looks a bit heavy as well I think, he was supposedly just over a stone overweight when he signed.}

17 Aug 2016 22:25:43
Hopefully the next game will not come down to gordons balls ups. Am sure if we score one goal it should aw us over the line.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I just can't see us not scoring 1 or 2 goals over there.}

17 Aug 2016 22:31:09
They will have to attack us and that could work in our favor. hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They're garbage mate, we gifted them those 2 goals tonight and I can't see them getting another 2 against us next Tuesday.}

17 Aug 2016 22:47:24
I'm just about to watch the highlights on itv to catch up on the second half and guess who's on. John collins πŸ˜‚.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2016 23:02:53
Did Gordon not make a really good save at 4-2? I thought he was partly to blame for first goal, but credit where it's due he made a cracking save and we then went up and scored moments later.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2016 23:30:10
Making 1 save out of 3? What a player.

I like McGregor, he has scored a lot of important goals for us and has proven himself to be better than Armstrong who we all wanted Celtic to sign. I just think he is useful at League level but we need a bit more at a higher level.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2016 00:21:45
Did anyone say he was a great player? I said he was at fault at the goal but then made a really good save at 4-2.did you see something different bud?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2016 21:45:20
Well came down with a bump.
Seemed a few players just switched off and it cost us.
Thankfully when we regained our composure when got a couple more.
Biton made a difference in midfield.
Should be enough to see us through but it will be harder than it should have been.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2016 21:43:29
Not a bad result, we'd all have taken that at 1 minute to kick off. Disappointing to lose 2 but to regroup and hit back is something of a new experience for us in recent years.
3-0 would have been better than 5-2 but I won't complain :-)

Hail Hail.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 22:38:12
Flat and predictable? Couldn't disagree more. I must have watched a different game to you. Yes we had a bad start to the 2nd half but in years gone bye we would probably have drawn that game after the way we started the 2nd half. However, with substitutions, a change of tactics and hard graft they done better than some would have expected and could have scored one or two more. 5 goals scored in a champions league play off. me personally i'll take that flat and predictable any day of the week.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2016 01:52:40
Gary I think you'll find the comment was posted at 3-2 so I wasn't saying flat and predictable across the 2nd half. We had a poor 10 minutes fact Not complaining just stating what I think I observed.

Not only does Toure steel and organize the defense, but he seems to have given Scott Brown a new lease of life.
Brown and the others in midfield have been superb.

17 Aug 2016 20:37:38
Loving this! Scotty Sinclair is giving us something we have lacked for a long time. His runs are carving up their defence. Griffiths is playing a blinder and the whole team is oozing confidence with Toure showing how good he can be. Long may it last!

Believable1 Unbelievable4

17 Aug 2016 20:44:50

Great cross set up wee man

Again.

Toure WOW

Best 1st half all round performance by a country mile in a very long time

Now they need to stick ( damage limitation ) or twist

If we stay 3-0 we are good to go

If we score again curtains

If they score next then it's all about mental toughness.

If it's too soon for Sviatchenko, I'd only swap Armstrong for McGregor. Do you not think we might see Janko though? They play a front 3. He'll add the extra cover each side with Tierney and there'll be gaps for the two to push on.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2016 11:45:21
This new format proposal is a bit of a joke. Besides the complete unfairness of it, it also fails to consider the fluidity of club for across nations. Sure, there's usually a Spanish, English, Italian and German representation in the last 16/ last 8 but we all know that the Germans and Italians have been through considerable dips in form. So a restructuring Bayern or the crap Milan teams of the last decade would be allowed in ahead of PSG, Porto or a resurrgent Ajax? I honestly would rather see a straight move to a last 16 competition of the top 16 champion clubs from top 16 European nations.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2016 14:34:23
"This season leading clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and AC Milan are missing out on the revenue generated by playing in the Champions League."

The above is copied and pasted directly from the Sly website. They are making out as if these clubs are somehow being hard done by. The bottom line is they didn't finish high enough in their leagues so don't deserve the CL revenue.

Agree3 Disagree1

17 Aug 2016 15:26:45

Stephbhoy it's getting to the point where the English teams will start treating the CL like the EL because it's more profitable to finish a place higher in the league than to go on a run in the CL.

Think it's time for Scotland Portugal holland belgium easteran european as well as Scandinavian countries to put there heads together and come up with something different
I don't no wat the something different is but there are smarter men behind the scenes surely that can think of something to rival or put a stop to uefa'so plan.

I agree belfastbhoy, to me it actually smacks of desperation by these nations. How long will it last before the fans of the so called big clubs get bored going to the same cities across europe spending thousands, as in all leagues some of them have to finish in the bottom half of a new super league, being used to success how long before they get unrest. Then they will pine for domestic football again. I think that money is obviously the main factor but i think it will also be the undoing of a few of these clubs. Heading for the cliffs like lemmings. If it was at all possible i'd love us to just cut our ( rest of europe) ties and leave them hanging.

Rather stay where we are tbh. winning everything to be won at home as far as my ambitions go anything we do in Europe is a bonus. You start with European leagues tho good for revenue and tv, you take away the ability for a lot of fans who go week in week out. can't see there being many fans who can afford to jet off very 2 weeks. Yes it's good to go up against good opposition with glamour ties but the be all and end all for me is watching Celtic wether it's Barcelona or Ross co.
And on that note better get going 6 hour drive ahead HH.

Would we not be doing the exact same belfast? It's disheartening we're not being considered granted. But you can't call the same idea a joke just because of sour grapes.

U miss my point jimtim. all clubs, just like ourselves are intitled to look after wats best for themselves. that's why the big leagues are pushing for this, because they think it's better for them.

Wat I'm saying is why is uefa bowing down to just 4 leagues! Is it not there job to look after every league in Europe?

So imo the rest of the leagues need to step up and say no! This is not happening!

If that don't work because as we no uefa is a dictatorship

Then we need to look out for Wat is best for us with or without uefa's backing.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - If the clubs from the 'bigger' leagues don't get what they want they will simply push forward with their breakaway league, take all the sponsorship and TV money and leave everybody else fighting over the scraps.
What's the point of a UEFA competition without any the top teams in it? We've already got that with the EL and Celtic fans look down their nose at it, even playing Inter Milan and Ajax in that tournament wasn't deemed good enough by them.}

17 Aug 2016 15:28:25
Ed answered what I was going to say pretty much BC. These clubs are UEFAs product. Without them, the CL, or any makeshift competition, wouldn't generate as much money. I just don't see how this 'joke' of an idea can be resolved with a seperate break-away competition without being hypocritical. The Champions League, by it's own name, is flawed. The seeding only adds insult to injury. It's all about keeping the rich clubs rich really. Only now, even that's not enough. The continental clubs are looking at the money on offer in the EPL and are jealous.

Ed, So this new league mate wtf? Is it a league with no promotion or demotion/ relegation? That would be pointless as feek and IMO would only chase away long term sponsors IMO because it would become mundane and stale in no time

I know you have touched upon another Pan European league do you see us in there short/ medium term along with the other left behinds who I presume would be the likes of Porto / Benfica / Ajax / Anderlecht's etc?

What they appear to be suggesting is obviously a non secular but form gerrymandering mate, these games still need attended few attend better than ourselves and add our own bit in terms of atmosphere mate

You look at all these pre season friendlies even going back to the Mowbary era and we are always invited in with the elite even this season shows that

I just cannot get my head around this ONE league utopia it makes no sense from a spectator standpoint or what is the allure for the normal fan (y)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The allure is the millions (billions) of people around the world who will pay to watch the richest clubs playing each other to make them even more money - it's no different to the the CL in it's concept except they're cutting out having to subsidise smaller clubs. It's no different from Celtic and TRIFC threatening to go to England for years which a lot of Celtic supporters were/are in favour of, their only problem with this European breakaway seems to be that we're not involved. They don't like to see us being treated the way we have treated smaller clubs for years. Why would Real Madrid want to play Celtic instead of Bayern Munich? Yeah it's all good for a friendly but they see us as small fry because apart from Celtic fans, how many people in Asia or America that have been used to EPL/La Liga/Bundesliga and CL games want to watch Celtic? Not to mention where are we going to get the money to compete with the likes of Man City, they're billions in front of us just now and these huge clubs infrastructures blows us out the water, we would need millions invested in the Club before we could even start looking at buying players. How can we moan about being left out when our stadium isn't good enough to hold a CL Final? Will we pay the millions needed to upgrade the stadium?
If there is eventually a second tier I'd imagine we might be invited into that but that will be years before there's anything like that happening.}

Reading the reaction to eufa proposals . seems a way to hurt them is don't buy into the broadcasters . their sponsors . products etc . as of this season all supporters of leagues involved don't travel to so called bigger teams. / leagues. if the clubs outside call uefa bluff and tell them to leave and them start a true champions league with winners only qualified . this league would have more variety as many fans . and the other 20 would soon tire of meeting each other (possibly) we know first hand how boring playing the same teams 4 times plus a season becomes even old co games lost their edge. if we got invited ahead of others and those calling for equality fair handedness etc would they then still say **** uefa or take money like a prostitute and be happy . serious question would like to hear people's views

Ive never really cared for CL tbh DRB, seems to be rigged from the start, why do winners of there respective leagues need to qualify? been set up as a cash cow for decades, imo stopping buying products that they advertise etc won't hurt them in the slightest, the so called bigger teams fans will still buy, i'd love to know how many champions league winners where champions in their countries the season before? we all know how corrupt uefa are, this new format will just be more dosh for them to moisten their knickers,

I gave up on CL when countries could have 2-3 'Champions' automatically qualify while actual league winners have to play up to 3 qualifying ties.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - DRB's spot on in is OP, how many people on here moaning about this are only doing so because Celtic are on the outside looking in rather than how wrong the whole CL concept has always been? How many would drop their drawers for a seat at the big table if they invited us and TRIFC because of it's box office appeal?
When you've got supporters more interested in how much money a game's worth rather than the result there's something far wrong.}

I love watching Celtic in European competition, the highs and lows, dramas and suspense is all part of the enjoyment factor.
However all this talk of breakaways, revised leagues makes me sick.

I enjoy watching Celtic playing in Scotland just as much as Europe: a few pints in the east end, a goal rout, biased refereeing, the penalty that never was, rivalries etc
I love it.
I work away now and only get the games on the telly but I still love watching us. My point is that although I love the European nights, I always want to dominate Scotland as we are a Scottish club. If we get pushed away from any new European format so be it, I'm sure another door will open. For now let's qualify and put on a show, enjoy the 'big guns' while we can.
We will always have the enjoyment of pumping hearts, Killie and secvo
Hail hail.

I love celtic and will do so wherever that play but there are lots of things I don't like about playing in our league now. let's be honest we play in a league where the governing body not only condone but actively support a club that cheats at every level. They conspire to ensure we are disadvantaged at every opportunity. Without doubt referres cheat against us, either that or they all suffer from transient visual difficulties triggered by the sight of green and white jerseys.

We play in a country were the first thought of the complete media structure is how to diminish us, our success is despised. in the last week we have had a negative story almost every day, which are mostly ridiculous, we are deemed to be wrong by paying transfer fees for good players, we should not have accepted an invitation to play amongst the elite of Europe etc.

While we still play in Scotland I will take great delight in dominating the league and hopefully we should get ten in a row! but if we get a chance to leave them and their predujice behind then I would be delighted.

Would just like to wish br and the team good luck tonight I hope they really put on a strong professional performance and show the hacks from the media we are there on merit not because we came fourth in a superficial league propped up by sky money
The more we stream on kodi the more sky and bt loose. history will show every empire that was ever built eventually fell where will sky and English football be when it all comes crashing down

{Ed007's Note - What has Sly got to do with CelticTV broadcasts and how will they go about battering guys that are putting streams up in the future when they can't just now, even though they'd love to. As long as Sly are broadcasting games there's absolutely nothing they can do to stop it.}

With all this speculation about a big name player if we get CL. what about yaya toure? Long shot ya but isn't Bastien S as well.
He is left out of CL squad, seems like no place at city and want him sold, close relations BTW us and city, have his brother, says nice things of BR and us in the past. at same time we can get Roberts sorted out to haha.
Ed too much of a long shot for yaya or BS?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Realistically I can't see Yaya Toure moving to Celtic.}

17 Aug 2016 10:01:37
Would love to see big yaya in the hoops! . always rated the big chap plus we could be doing with a big dominating midfielder and surely we'd get a couple great seasons out him. once the big chap builds up a head of steam he is virtually unstoppable plus he would absolutely BATTER the sevco midfield senseless and for the first time ever in a spfl game we would proberly see the sevco be allowed to make 5 substitutions. per half. nothing suprises anymore wae the honest mistake merchant messer thompsom more than likely at the helm. anyway back to the point haha would love big yaya at parkhead however unlikely it does seem.
