Ed007 going to watch Barcelona - Madrid grudge match on telly. Saw you comments Heavy WUM
If it is a dig here are some of my jokes for your
cheek LOL timalloy

Did you know all male tennis players are really witches. eg remember Goran, even he's a witch

I was having dinner with Garry Kasparov (world chess champion) table had a checked tablecloth- it took him two hours to pass the salt

My friend has fallen in love with two schoolbags, yes you've guessed it he's BISATCHEL

Jump lead walks into a bar, barman looks up and says "Ok I'll serve you but just dont start anything {Ed007's Note - I was just letting them know you were an ok guy Tim and in case they took something the wrong way, they are a great bunch of regulars on it, as you probably see by reading it. See the difference in the way debates etc go? I would love this site to be like that! I hope Madrid smash 'El campesino'. Night mate, take care.}

Obviously there's been players on both sides of the divide that just rub people up the wrong way... Lennon, Ricksen, Brown, Boruc, Novo.

Who were the players or staff, even if you wouldn't say to one of your pals that you had an underlying respect for?

For me as a Bluenose, it would be Tommy Burns, Jinky Johnstone, Henrik Larsson, Paul McStay, Pat Bonnar and the man who's been in the news recently, Pat McCourt.

We had just beat celtic at Ibrox, 2-0, Kenny Miller scored a double, I think Mowbray was the celtic manager, McCourt went round every Rangers player and shook every hand. Respect to the bold Patrick after that {Ed007's Note - Brilliant question mate, and respect for having the guts to say that. Just off the top of my head Walter Smith, McCoist (TBs funeral said it all), Brian Laudrup, I am not going to say any more, because I know a lot of the charity work etc that Rangers players have done and personally helped people off their own backs, so it would be unfair and maybe controversial. John Greig just for being 'Mr Rangers' as in his pride and service to the club. I am surprised you didn't have Billy McNeill though?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's loads I could mention, Billy McNeil obviously, my mistake. I got to talk to Bertie Auld at a charity auction for 2mins, funniest guy I've ever listened to.... the wee mans patter was quality {Ed007's Note - I know Bertie quite well, he was friendly with my father. He could hold a room for an hour with his stories and craic.}

Agree0 Disagree0

For me as a celtic fan it would be Jorg Albertz. would have loved him in the celtic side. also david weir

Agree0 Disagree0

John Hartson - gutted when we didn't sign him. Can still remember hearing him & De Boer were at Ibrox for talks, on a high all day long.

Then the medical the next day - dejection. And just to rub salt into the wound, O'Neill snaps him up :(

Good to see the big man fighting fit again.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have to say the most respect i have for a rangers player would be davie cooper.
tommy burns said scotland has lost a national treasure.

Agree0 Disagree0

I quite liked Alfie Conn

Ed007 have you heard any more about McGeady's propsed move to Zenit? Is it true we get 10% sell on above £10m? Next question can we not find any of these Russian billionaires a Scottish/ Irish Granny? Timalloy {Ed007's Note - There is sell on clause of any profit, figures range from 10-30% believe it or not, but this is Russia (press), they don't care about CFC so they want to make the deal sound more by saying they need the 30% to give to CFC etc. I seriously doubt it is as high as that and would imagine it would be 10 or 20% at a push. Hard to find much out really, sorry mate. A Russian billionaire would not work for us at all Tim, when FFP rules come in we would be banned from European competition for not meeting the legislation. Would anyone bother if we sold the name of the Stadium? It's only a name and the fans would still call it Parkhead or Celtic Park? It is just a form of advertising, and could be a very lucrative one at that.}

But in all seriousness, as a Rangers fan, hope ye gub Sion tomorrow. Our co-efficient needs all the help it can get.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing the Gers, celtic and the Hearts (can't see past Spurs though) qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League.

Ed007 saw your answer to post on Man Utd site re biggest club in world and who you would play for. Agree these days with the money involved most players would move to the highest offer of wages.
But cast your mind back to Lisbon Lions they played for the LOVE of the game (even the highest earners were only on about £200 week and for winning European Cup bonus was about £1000 ) They all enjoyed the game for the games sake and played with a SMILE on their faces (wee Jinky the perfect example) how many of these multi millionaire players do that these days?
I agree with the marketing Man Utd seem to be biggest club in world, but let's not forget Celtic's Brand throughout the world. You pick any country in the world and I guarantee there will be a Celtic supporters club there. With our huge Scottish/Irish/American/Australian/Canadian etc.. fans we SHOULD be one of the best supported clubs in the world, if not the best. If we marketed Glasgow Celtic the BRAND globally who knows where it would take us. Hail hail timalloy {Ed007's Note - They are the highest valued club in the world Tim, I was talking financially. Celtic don't use the worldwide brand anywhere near it's potential. The days of The Lisbon Lions are long gone football has changed so much. Read this from a friend of mine from the USA and then say we are making so much money from using the CFC brand:

www.celticrumours.co.uk/celtic-news/celtic-news243.php

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Ed007 yes i saw that article by your friend Graham and that is point i was trying to make above. With our vast support in America we should have a Celtic shop in most if not all major cities in America and offer discounted Celtic souvenirs even give kids free celtic tops, (same for Australia/Canada/South Africa etc.. ) As your friend says when Celtic do tours dont charge the earth for these friendly games and connect with the fans again. We should also be offering them tv and internet packages again at reasonable prices to watch all Celtic games and promise ex players to attend their club functions and hold regular rallies around the different countries. Make EVERY fan no matter where they are feel an important part of Glasgow Celtic Football Club. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Tim, exactly there should be and there isn't, how can it not be beneficial to NIKE not to sell CFC merchandise freely in the USA? There is no import taxes as such as they are an American company. It is a multi million pound market that is being left untapped. In this financial climate CFC should be making every effort to maximise income, tours are all well and good but that is a one off match etc for overseas fans, they should be able to contribute to the club by buying merchandise when ever they want to.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree 100% ed, as you probably saw I posted similar thing on Man Utd site but was a wee bit naughty(you know me and wind ups) told them Celtic's green and white hoops were instantly recognisable and asked how many teams worldwide played in red? Hope they are better at seeing funny side than our neighbours Timalloy {Ed007's Note - They are fine, I think you had one answer already, Billy Meredith ;-)

Looking forward to Sloth (Fraser Forster) going back to Celtic, I think he's a big numpty. Yeah a good clean sheet record but actually when push came to shove (cup final vs Rangers) and the important climax to the league Celtic just, well, weren't good enough.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Another Load of Rubbish The Shame Where Lucky Last Season As Regards To The SPL Title The Hoops Had A Better Head To Head With The Shame Last Season As For The Family Cup Yeah The Shame Can Keep That Trophy Although Lets Not Forget The Final Result In 1957 This Season Will Be Different Though As Regards To The SPL Title Which Will Make A Nice Pleasant Change

What kind of education did you receive?

Capitalization should always be used for the beginning of sentences and questions.

Capital letters always need to be used for titles and proper names.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to be one of the most idiotic points ever on this site. You're saying he's a person because, even though he holds a record for clean sheets (more than the shagger has ever kept), he let in 2 goals in the cup final? Are u tootin a crack pipe while typin this 5hite? Come on man make some sense or at least think about what ur doin
Kevbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

What`s with education mince? do you want a gold star or something? tuck your shirt in and pull up your shorts, good lad, now run along.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers league win last season was down to experience. Celtic were far and away the better football side last season but the experience of the Rangers squad and Walter Smith was the difference. Smith ain't there no more and Fat Sally already has the hounds at the door. The Celtic players will know how to react this season and we are already giving teams the run around despite not firing on all cylinders.

As for Forster, 23 clean sheets for a man who had a very dodgy defense infront him isn't great, it's a bloody miracle. I'll admit i'm not exactly thrilled with his signing but the record speaks for itself.

TrampsPants

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't be so sure, Gers are still a solid team and few decent additions it will be close {Ed007's Note - So if there are no decent additions you will concede on here after the window closes that Rangers are not very good after all?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed how can you reply with that, how can we admit to being not very good when that team has won the title for the past 3 years, if Celtic dont sign anyone before the window closes will you come on here and sayyous are not a good team NO ididnt think so, so why u asking someone else to do it? Lets just see who yous bring in before you slate anyone else eh Hopefully you will be eating your words come end of the month and end of May also. {Ed007's Note - I wasn't slating anyone, the guy said with a few decent additions it will be close, I think if the window shut right now it will be close. My point was he wasn't showing confidence in his own team by saying it needed additions to make it a close race. It is his admission I questioned.}

So, you control the purse strings at Celtic Park, you have to work within a budget of €5million,, who would you buy between now and the transfer deadline day.

1) Richard Dunne.
2) Aldo de Negris (I reckon he'd be another Henrik).

ColumMc

Believable2 Unbelievable0

De Negris, no question CM.

Dunne is Majstorovic with an Irish accent. Big, strong etc but they turn too slowly. Big Kelvo can't cover every attack on his own.

Shaunybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

De Negris everytime. We already have Bid Dan, Rogne, Hooiveld, O'dea(can be recalled in a moments notice) Loovens, K Wilson and Mulgrew...... how many centre backs do we want?

Agree0 Disagree0

Aldo de Negris. 2million
timo hildebrand. free
jamie murphy. 1 million
fraser forster. looks like a loan so would just offer 2 million for him permanently

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd go for Tim Matavz and ALF and keep the change

Hi Ed i'm a Gers fan but i thought this would be the best place to get an answer to my question. Do you reckon the boy Islam Feruz will continue to play in the Scotland set up or (assuming he does leave for Chelsea) do you think he'll switch allegiances to the England set up? I'm not too sure of the rules or if he even can play for them? Cheers. {Ed007's Note - He would be eligible to play for England and it wouldn't surprise me if he did. Welcome 'over' by the way, Rangers fans are always welcome here.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers Ed. I thought that might be the case myself. By the looks of things loyalty isn't one of this boys strong points. Speaking as a Scotland fan it would be a kick in the n*ts to see him switch sides after being part of the Scotland set up for so long. {Ed007's Note - I'm not a big of of international football in general, it has really lost it's appeal over the years, even WCs and Euros are a bit of an anti climax, too much glitz and glamour with poor quality matches. It just will show again though, loyalty is a rare commodity in a modern day footballer, mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Ed. The Euro is a bit more exciting and my opinion is the best Euro (apart from England and no not because the Germans beat them in the semi) was Denmark when Scotland beat Russia 2-0, then Celtic got the duff Russian goalie who couldn't run A small nation hosting it to me is better as there is less glitz with smaller grounds and better atmosphere. The WC is a sham and you can name the last 7/8 every time.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2011 12:07:32
Obviously pleased with league standing and the super-efficient financial handling of the club and we do have several exciting players on the pitch. However, I am really frustrated at the lack of poitive and professonal activity in the transfer market.
Targets we identified should have been tied up by now and these 'trials' make us look like a boys club.
Surely we should have a Director of Football to assist NL in that department especially when a new in-experienced manager has had to put up with all that other nonsense and hinderence put upon him.
We needed a Goalie pre-season and we seem to be dithering and back-tracking all over the shop while inferior outfits and more experienced wheeler dealer managers are snapping up bargains we are missing.

Jinky Fan {Ed007's Note - I am against the whole concept of Director of Football JinkyF, it very rarely works out, remember Dalglish/Barnes? If things don't work out the manager gets sacked and the DOF remains. The main point when MON was taking over CFC was that Dalglish would be removed, MON refused to work with a DOF, the manager should have all the power when it comes to the team IMO, no great manager has ever needed a DOF or 'mentor'.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Take your point about great managers, but we have a good rookie manager who may have benefited from a older wiser adviser on certain aspects only, cheers for your opinion and love the site, mate.

Jinky Fan {Ed007's Note - We're all entitled to our opinions, and thanks very much for the praise.}
