Jackie Marmara was my favorite player as a bhoy, watching him and Simon Donelly together are my first memories of playing the Celtic way HH πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€.

Just reading on here is reminding me of the previous seasons, there is still 2 and a half months of the transfer window open, Brendan won't do business unless it's right for the club, Imo he will sign a ST, LW, CB and a no.10, remember back to the first half of last season without Robert's in the team, we destroyed opponents for fun, I'd love him back but I can't see it happening now, people need to stop shouting about "just pay the 8MIL" some diddy Mooy who played on loan at St mirren a couple seasons ago, man city sold for 10MIL, it's not about what man city will take for him, it's how much these over hyped rich diddy teams will take for him! Saying that Ed can you tell me how long he has left on his contract? Keep The Faith πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€.

{Ed007's Note - Roberts' City deal runs until 2020, Joe.}

When are you going to realise Celtic are skint! All the spare cash is being ploughed into the hotel venture. They had to accept money from Rangers for a development player to keep the youth department ticking over. And your marque signing is Hayes.

Having a think of Scottish based players over the years we signed that done a job in Europe for us Hartley Robson McDonald Caldwell brown Armstrong agathe can anyone else think of any just thinking hayes will be for us.

Caldwell?

{Ed007's Note - Ciftci and Scott Allan.}

16 Jun 2017 19:03:59
Can't think of any stand out Euro ties but Jackie McNamara and Mark Wilson always gave their all in the Hoops.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I don't think McNamara gets the praise he deserves when we talk about great players we've had. Him and Tom Boyd are always overlooked when people pick their Best XIs etc but people forget how good a servant they both were, especially Boyd who was our captain the last time we won a treble.}

16 Jun 2017 19:35:20
Caldwell was always a cert for either a red card or giving away a pen in Europe lol.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 19:20:22
A can mind jackie mac goal v Liverpool in the UEFA cup, game finished 2-2 in paradise! What an atmosphere that nite! Spot on ED Jackie was very underrated mate, really solid player and great servant! As was tam Boyd.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - They both showed great consistency and neither of them ever let us down on the pitch as far as I can remember and they always gave 100% out there.}

16 Jun 2017 19:44:02
Ed I think the McNamara thing was when he left it upset people if I remember correctly was always a big fan of his and Tom Boyd.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - That was the Club's fault for messing up Jackie's contract talks and them playing on his feelings for the Club. Why did they leave the talks until his contract was expired, can you imagine Lawwell doing that now?}

16 Jun 2017 19:57:40
Agree 100% Ed. When we talk about bargains we forget McNamara is up there with the best of them. To be in the team for around 10 years at a time when we had plenty superstars says a lot about the guy totally committed and a fantastic player too. Boyd was always a favourite of mine and i always enjoy listening to him i'm glad he is still involved with the Club, Legend.

16 Jun 2017 21:23:00
Jackie Mc was a very good servant and when he switch to full back he became a fantastic defender.
Played both right and left side and never looked out of position.
Scored goals in Europe and cup final as well.

16 Jun 2017 21:41:35
I couldn't remember the ins and outs about it can just remember people being upset about it at the time but no imagine they let this happen to Armstrong next year the fans wouldn't stand for it.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It was a silly mess that should and could have been avoided.}

Does any know how many matches Jackie actually started in his first 2/ 3 years with Celtic . The reason I ask is I was told in no uncertain terms that Jackie spent that period on the drink and it took Jackie (Senior ) to sort him out and get him back living a proper life .
Now, I don't know if the story about Jackie is correct,
I would like anyone with information to tell us .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Jackie made 30 apps in his first season (remember it was October when he joined) and he won PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year that year. In his second season he made 42 apps.}

Hi lads new to the site but interesting points of view πŸ€” But I hear all these guys saying they want a 5-7 million pound player
I'd love that to happen but who?
No one that we have heard of probably
But like a few have said in BR WE TRUST
For me let's get Armstrong signed up
Also MD and pray we get PR πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
Hail hail.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

16 Jun 2017 20:15:57
We signed Ebouse in jan for Β£3.5mill who has not featured yet so if BR can get him upto speef this season that's as good as any new signing but no matter what you spend it guarantees you nothing. Look at Pogba for Β£90mill. I will leave it upto BR. Pretty sure a couple of signings are well on the way.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 22:10:04
@Jinkymc welcome to the site mate, sadly it looks like Roberts is not coming as Man City want Β£8m+ for him, I think he is worth it even at that price, but Lawwell will not sanction that kind of money before we know we are in group stages of CL.
Keep posting pal and join in with any of the threads, hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2017 23:28:17
I have no interest in Celtic buying a Β£5-7m rated player . Whatever they say a player is rated at means nothing to me, all I want is a couple of players who are better in their positions than we currently have and whom Brendan can sign.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2017 15:54:08
I think if Roberts don't come a big blow, shows the realistic level of player can only attract, a shame as huge club but play in Scotland, a Shame then got to scrape the barrel, just got to hope for good scouting and hope to get a few decent players can keep for a a couple of years, oh well it is what it is, obviously very frustrating for the supporters.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

17 Jun 2017 17:16:42
QIt appears we are wasting our time and are only depressing ourselves going on about Roberts . If he is away and doesn't comeback he won't be the first or the last . He. Was certainly an integral part of our first team, yet in the 18 months he was with us we could never be certain that he would start the next game in the same way as Sinclair . We can mourn and regret the loss of Roberts but we should also be cheerful and delighted that everyone else that powered us to the inVIncible domestic treble are still with us and likely to be with us for at least another year .
Let us rejoice and be grateful for our great team.

Papers/ Internet Reporting that Newcastle among others are interested in 3 million ( yes 3!) Celtic CB Jozo Simunovic!

Harry Maguire CB and imo mediocre at best moves from Relegated Hull to Leicester for 17 million!

Embarrassing!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

16 Jun 2017 11:05:35
I read 2 reports this morning one said Simunovic is happy to stay the other said he is open to a move. The media are full of S*** and they have no idea what players are coming and leaving so they are printing nonsense stories every day in the hope one day they might get one correct. Celtic will decide what our players are worth not that morons.

Agree3 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 11:27:00
It was Β£8M in the report I read which still isn't enough.

16 Jun 2017 11:51:19
English 'football' and I use that term loosely is a joke! 2 players who got relegated from the promised land have went this week for a combined total of 47 million pound, one a young keeper who's had maybe 1 full season in that league! Absolutely bonkers! If one of these diddy teams like Huddersfield Burnley or any of the other want jozo then the bidding starts at 15 million! Sick to the back teeth of these English arrogant ***** thinkin our club is the bargain basement! VVD went for 13 million now he's worth 60-70 million! If they don't like the price we set then piss off!

Agree9 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 16:01:09
The club will sell any player if the fee is correct. BR, Lawwell, Desmond and Co. know the value of our squad and if they're sold then it'll be for the right fee or not at all. HH.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 20:20:24
LH86 if the player wants to go there is little the club can do apart from maybe tie him down for a year then let him go. Players up in scotland will never get the same valuation but Β£3mill is a joke. Think Β£8 to Β£10mill is closer to the mark.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 21:38:36
when we do sell players to the Premiership we need to include a better sell on clause we know now that the good players we sell to Premiership teams will get sold on for more so ask for a bigger slice when they move on but we still need to drive a hard bargain when these English team's come calling.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 22:16:37
Oh I am so so excited about our marquee signing, Hayes. The board will sell anyone if the price is right. We will never get past the group Stage. This is just my opinion. I feel that the board don't give a rubbish about the fans. They got there 50,000 season tickets now, so they don't need a marquee signing. The board know we trust Brendan, and with this blind loyalty gives them a free pass they know if they don't buy anyone of any clout, we will say oh, it's ok in Brendan we trust we must have a good enough team.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2017 10:07:49
Reckon it's fair to say that there would be life after Roberts if he does not sign but I really don't think Forrest is the answer there. If we can dig out a gem for that right wing, it would be amazing. Just a shame if we can't afford or convince PR to stay as he was perfect fit and a real maestro. Like I said though, it is not a catastrophe if we don't get him. Will be keeping my fingers and toes proper crossed for it though.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

16 Jun 2017 00:27:40
Hey bhoys, long time no post lol, Imo we won't sign Patrick roberts we just can't afford him . If he was our player on a long-term contract and someone wanted to buy him after the season he's just had we wouldn't talk for less than 10MIL, ots probably going to be our downfall the boy had such a good loan spell.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

16 Jun 2017 07:57:57
The difference is we'd be desparate to keep him. City want rid which means they're less likely to make excessive demands. The manager has also been quoted as saying we can afford to make a record signing if it makes financial sense for the club, which this most definitely would.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 15:53:00
That's hard to take joe, but I think your right mate. That's a kick in the teeth because I think that bhoy is destined for the very top. If he doesn't come I wish him all the best. In my mind the best loan deal we have ever had πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Jun 2017 15:56:31
Kev, I think what Joe means is that there are many potential clubs who will pay much more for him than we can afford. Just because City don't need the cash doesn't mean they won't try to get the highest price for the lad and they have a decent bargaining position because of the excellent season he has had with us. HH.
