Hi Ed - this is just a player suggestion. Standard Liege are being linked with a guy from FC Ashdod - Ambrose's previous club. He Nir Biton - a 21 year old 6'5'' defensive midfielder, who has already a few full caps for Israel. I don't know the player, but did a bit of research. he is 2 footed, with a good shot on him, and is absolutely massive. Additionally, he played a couple of games as a trialist for Man City last pre-season but they didn't take things further. Like Wanyama, the guy has 'epl' written all over him. am sure he could be sold on for a very good profit. Man City normally know what it takes to be a top player, and they obviously spotted something. Belgian press has olympiacos also sniffing about. Surely our isareli/ashdod connection could swing a move towards Celtic? Wondered if anyone else knows the player? Seriously looks the real deal.

Post was from me - Jean-Pierre Laguerre (forgot to add my name)

Good shout I just watched a youtube video of him, I know youtube shows his best bits but he is really inpressive would fit into our midfield. i'd be suprised if celtic didn't have there eye on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liking the players you're suggesting jpl . We should have you as a scout, you defo have an eye for a player. Hoping and praying balde performs, has to score tonight,

Hi ed, been looking around at teams who recently have been relegated from some of the top leagues in Europe. There's quite a few teams with excellent players now in the 2nd division such as Palermo. They have Abel Hernandez, a striker who could certainly do a job for us, and Joseph illicic, pacey inventive midfielder. 2 positions that I think we definetly need filled. What do you think the chances are of us looking at players like that, and in their position? {Ed007's Note - I would take either of the players you mention but Hernandez has 'vowed' to help Palermo gain promotion and Ilicic's agent has said he wants to stay in Italy.}

Good to see Motherwell signing McManus, the type of players they need to be sigining as well as McFadden, if the continue to do so maybe they can get to the europa league grp stage, Every Little helps, and this would help the league, I also think Aberdeen have made some interesting signings, not going to win the league anytime soon but as a football fan i'd love to see these clubs get better before sevco return and have a more competitive league, any opinions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good signings for Motherwell, I agree. Always thought McManus could have done so much better from football than he has. When he first went into the Celtic team he was excellent, like a throwback to the classic old-fashioned centre back. He obviously lost his way a bit and it's a bit of a shame actually. Could have been a great leader for Celtic and Scotland. While McFadden has always been very talented.

I don't think it matters that much in a European context though. No Scottish team will make any sort of considerable impact on that stage outwith Celtic and Rangers when they get back there. Even then the impact the Old Firm will have will only ever be minimal, the great atmosphere both sets of fans generate will be the best thing about it sadly.

What a person hooper championship, I would of wet myself if I was lennon and then sat him down, qpr is not going to get him anywhere near world cup as they won't take anyone outwith epl or spl on european form.if I were a betting man united won't see hooper in europe again, fool of a boy

Is new SEVCO rangers being allowed by the SFA into the Scottish cup competition this season? Even though if they win it (laugh) they cannot play in Europe? Unbelievable.
Still zero accounts out of ibrox for four years.

Why were they allowed to play in Europe in the last three years? That was breaking UEFA regulations.

Why were they allowed to play in Europe in the last 11 years, when EBTs were being operated? I don't understand it.
Where is UEFA in all this?

Where is HMRC on their upper tier tax tribunal? Once EBTs are deemed illegal, Nimmo smiths report is blown out the water. It's no longer an SFA rules issue it's a law breaking crime over 11 years. And that means defo title stripping. This is why Nimmo-Smith stalled for so long awaiting the FTTT result.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Jul 2013 20:04:21
Is the spl officially wound up and finished? Same as old RFC who ruined it?
Who ended up paying Nimmo-Smith's legal costs for THAT report? He invoiced spl for £250k but spl lawyers said the bill should go to new rangers as the spl won their case.
Does anybody know? Cause that all went quiet.

Wee man visit again as we all need cheering up, your comedy is only second to our own "wee man" our Patrick of Possilpark and good luck to your wee team against mighty Albion Rovers in Ramsdens Cup. Timalloy

Ed, with Stokes being in the squad for Cliftonville game does this mean he signed new contract? Do you know how long he has signed for? {Ed007's Note - As far as I know he hasn't signed an extension yet, with a year to run on his deal I expect he will soon though. He has said he is '100% confident' a deal will be reached.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed, I had forgot to tag my post too.

Ed do you think Steven Mouyokolo will be signed in time to play tomorrow? If not then that leaves us with Kelvin Wilson as our only available centre half. Lustig can't even fill in at Centre half because he is our only available right back! Which youngster is likely to step into our defence?

LM67 {Ed007's Note - He has signed but won't be available for tomorrow's game.}

I know I will get pelters for this but I think we should go after Jelavic! obviously surplus at Everton and would not cost the earth in fees or wages.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When we had a sniff at him I hoped we would get him as he had played well against him for Rapid. Now I would not touch him with a barge pole.First sniff of a move and the trouble would start.Remember he refused to play for sevco. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't see it mate, plus he was terrible last year rather get a young striker in or gee Watt a run oot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that is a good shout. He is a good player and he knows where the goal is. Proven at SPL level and would do a job in Europe. Don't know if we would pay the fee and wagesrequired though as he will be on more than 20k a week.

Rab. I am with you on this 100%

hoopey67

Agree0 Disagree0

If he could re-discover the form he had before he went to Everton I'd take him in an instant. He was prolific at Sevco, 30 goals in 45 games for them. That's almost Henke territory. The big difference was that Henke did it year after year after year. Not in Henke's class of course but it would be sweet to buy a player THEY couldn't hold onto. And then draw them in the Cup and Jelavic slaughter them! lol
Unlike to happen though, Everton would want too much for him.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take him in a minute, don't care how he played last season or part of it. bang the goals in up here again (as he would do easily) wee bit experience, be great up here. no chance tho, he won't be short of teams in EPL or back abroad if he leaves Everton? So very doubtfull

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

@Chrisbhoy: I don't think Everton would be that hard to deal with mate. For me he's not a Martinez player, he is also looking to bring his striker from Wigan. But as I said earlier I would not touch him. green jhedi

Jelavic has never played for sevco folks

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see this happening imagine how green and white with envy the ibroke hoards would be if he was banging in goals for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Normally I would say no, but he does sound like everything we need tbh and might be quite cheap. So aye defently. Also sevco's rage would be hard for the Scottish media to conceal

Darrenbhoy

Not in a million years. He got an easy ride from Scottish referees while at Rangers but his theatrical diving and borderline offsides would be hammered if he played for Celtic.

Not been on much because of work but as my last post got so many replies here I go again.
Your pre season has been rubbish and your two signings, by your own fans accounts have been poor, add that to lennon running scared of wee cliftonville and your team are a joke.
Compare that to Ally, who has made 7 good signings, in his own words the team "are mile better than last season" There are international players lining up to sign at Ibrox while over at Parkhead everybody wants to leave.
I predict you going out early in europe not even qualifying for europa league, while over at Ibrox we will walk 2nd division and win at least 2 cups.
Ramsdens and Scottish cup. Wee Bud of Clarkston

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In allys own words "get behind whyte " & "back green with season tickets and shares"

so I wouldn't take all's words as gospal

and also in walters own words " I wish the new rangers all the best in the future"

this coming from current non executive CEO or whatever title he was give to basically sit at the ticket office and pretend nothing is wrong while season tickets were on sale.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've been out in the sunny banks of the Clyde again too long and presumably drank some of the water. I think you guys are do funny. Ali mccoist couldn't hit a barn door identifying players let alone managing to win anything with them. Ok here's one back at you. They are all Walter Smiths signings because alistairs so bad they couldn't sack him because no one else would take the job other than the Ahole bomber brown so to save face they brought Walter back as chairMANAGER.

18 million for 2 players that we paid under 3 million for is a great peice of business.

Agree0 Disagree0

An orc that works? Not likely. As for us, you go and worry. Worry about your 2nd seaon in existence. Still losing £1m a month, it'll be like groundhog day soon enough! As for inetrnationals? Do me a favour. Away and troll on the zombie board

SIT DOON

Agree0 Disagree0

Please stop sniffing glue it's bad for your health. To even compare Celtic and the rangers is ludicrouse. What is Lennon to say that we're going to thrash cliftonvile. It's called showing your opposition respect. And as for players leaving Wanyama for huge profit and possibly hooper again for a good profit. New players have just came in and need time to settle ore season shows nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good for you Wee Bud, a bit of optimism in your own team. These International players will no doubt go from over 12m in a season or 2, am I right?

Ally should have been challenging in the Cups every season he has been the boss at Ibrox but whatever floats your boat as acceptable.

It was a coup fighting off other Clubs for Daly, Law, Templeton, Clark etc. What other Clubs was it that was matching Rangers wages again? ~ Mrs E

Kenny Shields comment in the record today about Lenny deserving a medal for getting 12.5 mil for VW probably designed to provoke a response. However his comment about his passing ability ISN'T wrong. He is a defensive mid/centre back at best and his passing was poor. So I think it was a great deal for us. Money in the bank. let's not dwell on it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why does anyone in Glasgow pay any attention to anything that's written in any of the red tops, its always just to sell papers. 99% of it isn't even newsworthy it's just churned out made up crap

Agree0 Disagree0

Kenny Shiels ego is the size of Celtic Park. I thought tactically he was quite an astute manager, gave us a hard time more than once, but he realises his days are over. He will be wheeled out for a few weeks to comment on Celtic V Cliftonville and vanish. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

It will provoke a response, certainly from Celtic fans, because of who said it more than anything else. I don't think there is anyone who knows football that would disagree with his assessment to be honest. He isn't the best on the ball, but he played well enough to secure a move and the fee is what it is. Is he worth £12.5m? That remains to be seen. Is anyone really worth £12.5m? In today's market where prices are ridiculous nothing surprises me anymore to be honest.

GRD

Agree0 Disagree0

Only time will tell re VW in the Premiership, but one point to remember-Saints are extremely frugal and do NOT have a history (under current ownership) of over-paying for players.

Agree0 Disagree0

That clown would have a go at our club and Lenny in particular at every opportunity. Rather than be happy for his fellow countryman's success he has to snipe at everything he can in the hope it'll disguise his own shortcomings. It's as if he has a personal agenda against people from our persuasion. Jealousy is an all-consuming emotion and he seems to have it in abundance. Hatred will never be dead while Kenny Shiels is alive.

Ed, If you had asked before the summer if we would have sold Wanyama and Hooper for 17 million combined I would have bitten anyone's hand off. That is almost a 14 million profit.

Even if we spend half of that figure on two replacements this has to be nothing but excellent business sense from PL.

NL should be given 10 million to spend on 3 or 4 new players and whoever he does buy will be backed by us all.

Now to find the replacements and the other positions we need!!

Would I be right in saying that under Neil Lennons tenure at Celtic the club have made bumper money from selling players in comparison to O, Neil, Strachan and Mowbray? If this is the case surely Neil is due a decent amount of money to spend on new players. JK

shammy {Ed001's Note - you have no right of reply because you posted a load of lies and untruths and continued to argue and lie after being proven to be completely ignorant of any kind of facts. Just stop whining and grow up and be a man. Admit you were wrong, instead of posting up lies about how I had agreed with your complete and utter nonsense about accounts. You clearly have not got the knowledge to argue so give it up and stop boring people with crap that you don't know about. You are just embarrassing yourself by making yourself look stupid when facts are presented and you still argue the point. So yes I do find it offensive when someone lies and pretends I posted something that agreed with their bull, when I quite clearly pointed out that you were wrong and clueless. You can't even quote correctly, even that you have to lie about as I would never call anyone 'wee', so that shows what a knob you are, when even a quote becomes a lie!}

Billy sharp? Are we seriously interested in him ed? Why are we looking at another English striker. If Hooper is anything to go by he won't be here to long before a big championship side come in for him. I guess my point is British players all want to play in England, so do most other contrys players aswell but I think we might be better served looking at "lesser" countries like Bolivia and oh I Duno korea maybe (only cause I couldn't think of another example) let's us tap into hidden markets, gets us new fans makes us a bit more money in the process, thoughts guys?
