Really good result and performance last night Bhoys.

Here`s the question:
Anybody missing Broony?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

16 Jan 2016 20:14:09
Yeah. The performance was good last night but utd are terrible. Look at the other performances recently that have been dire with brown missing. I know he has his doubters but I think we are a better team more often with him than without.

Agree5 Disagree1

16 Jan 2016 20:22:01
We may not have missed him last night, but judging by the performances against Motherwell and Patrick Thistle, then I think he still has a big part to play in our team.
Don't forget Dundee United are 14 points adrift at the bottom of the league, if we were playing Aberdeen or Hearts, I personally would rather have Brown in the team.

Agree3 Disagree1

16 Jan 2016 22:01:47
Broonie is no wonder player (if he was, under current board financial plan, he would have been sold ages ago) but it can't be denied he has been helping keep this lot together for the past few seasons.
We do appear stronger when he plays and I am looking forward to his return.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Jan 2016 22:11:41
Of course we missed Brown and missed him big time . With him and Bitton both missing yesterday we had no recognised defensive midfielders . This was clearly illustrated by the ease that Dundee Utd ran through for their goal. Recognised defensive midfielders would have prevented that goal.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2016 00:00:53
We miss him whenever he doesn't play no argument, the Celtic central defenders certainly missed him last night when Souter was able to run thirty yards without even the semblance of a tackle. I can't wait till he is back.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jan 2016 01:07:05
Ask the question when we play a team at the other end of the leaque.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2016 01:39:02
Brown, vic, joe and kayal have been the only players in recent years that have played that role convincingly and we have one left now and we do miss that type of player. It's a gap in the squad, one of many. SJ does well for Norway but I can't warm to the guy. He is busy and pressures players but he doesn't have gritty side. When brown is back they shouldn't be in the first 11 together, not in the spl anyway.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Jan 2016 12:37:44
I used to slate Brown and at the time it was warranted. However, since Lennon was our manager, Brown has continually improved and is now a key player for our team.

The job Brown does for the team is very improtant and it allows others to play. He is great at shutting down opponents and has an amazing work rate. Like every player, he has strengths and weaknesses but he is one of the players I like to see on the team sheet when we have a big match to play.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2016 12:52:37
I would Rather Broony in the team at the minute than Stefan.

Evening Ed, Do you think this new signing @ CH is being bought for us to start playing with a back three?

From the clips of him he looks like an old fashioned sweeper IMO

Am happy with what I see in him but very similar to what we have IMO except that sweeper angle and probably a better goal threat from what you see or maybe Boyata getting pushed to RB? Boyata IMO was just starting to find his feet / looked better IMO just before his injury obviously much more pace

Also are you hearing / expecting anyone else in mate do they have any real interest in the dutch boy Weghorst? (y)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I doubt we'll switch to three at the back, I'm thinking along the lines that it means Mulgrew will be off either this month or in the summer and I still think this will be Lustig's last season with us.
There was an enquiry made to Heracles about Weghorst's availability but I think it was more to look at a deal for the summer, Heracles have a years option on extending his deal and I'd be amazed if they don't (or haven't already) triggered it.
Odense winger Rasmus Falk could be another possible summer signing on a Bosman, his contract is up and representatives of CFC have held talks with the player's agent.}

16 Jan 2016 19:58:09
The boy Falk is that Peter Falk's (Columbo) boy pmsl if so he will certainly solve a load of problems ;-)

That would be my wishlist of Jan signings done a CH and a winger

RD now going down the Scandic/ Nordic route we all thought he would in the beginning

Mulgrew no big loss now missed most of season and must no his tickets punched a handy squad/ sub player now @ best (y)

Weghorst looks a handful.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Ffs, have you stole Tim's joke book? It looks as if RD is finally getting a bit more input on player recruitment when you see who we're looking at and if that's what's happening it can only help to put his own stamp on the squad.}

16 Jan 2016 20:27:30
For me that's what I thought Rd main attribute would be finding talent from the Scandinavian market why he wasn't allowed to do this from the onset is beyond me. Surely this is the best market for us and to have someone with his knowledge of there should be an asset. I've said for many months now why oh why is there not a centre half from that area good enough for us in our price range hopefully this lad is the one.

Firstly can I say well done to Ronny and the team last night that's the best we played in ages.
From a purely football point of view we were excellent. Griffiths finishing is superb and is our best finisher since Larsson. Commons goal was outstanding and Rogic is beginning to look the part.
But for every ying there is a yang and without sounding negative some of the faults we had last night are there for all to see and if we were playing a better team we would a been punished more. Dundee Utd gave the ball away for fun and we took advantage.
IMHO our 2 main faults are,
1 The pressing game, we didn't do it much last night but the only time we did was when they scored. We commit 5/ 6 players in their half and it only takes 2/ 3 passes and their are in on top of our defence, in Europe its 2/ 3 passes and they score.
2 I firmly believe Ronny is what I call a basketball manager, in other words its we attack then you attack, the game is very long because of this and it leaves us too exposed tho domestically we can survive it. In Europe we will be severely punished hence why average teams are beating us and beating us badly.
There is the train of thought we play this way because we can play same way in Europe. Sorry but this is total rubbish we can't do that simply because we have most of the ball domestically but in Europe its the other way around so how can we play the same way.
For me that only works if you are superior in both Europe and at home (see Bayern/ Barca etc) .
We simple have to change tactics in Europe as most of the time we are playing superior opponents.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 Jan 2016 18:24:09
Ryman 100% correct. How you want to play and how you are allowed to play can be very different. I think Rommie had no idea that the step up in class could be so much more difficult to play his system. Still don't think he has a way to change this as just does not know any other way to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 22:18:11
Really is there any real need for discussing European football, we are out of this season's competition for a month or 5 weeks and won't be playing any for at least 6 months.
We should enjoy the football as the season progresses .

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 23:09:52
Oldbhoy if there is no need to discuss European football why did u reply.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Jan 2016 01:17:36
Yeah that's the way to look at it, rejoice in beating teams that are at the bottom of the league, marvel at players who do their stuff against teams that are getting hammered regularly, prostrate yourselves on the ground in wonder at Ronnies marvelous coaching abilities, and then when it all stutters again against the better teams, just shrug your shoulders and say, well they can't be good all the time, roll on Europe, so we can have a real test.

He's one of the worst fullbacks in the league. He scored today though so no coincidence that suddenly he's put forth. Not for me.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Jan 2016 17:52:18
Pp. he has 27 goals in 107 appearances . and he defintly isn't one of the worst full back In our league . and yes the goal again today in got me thinking of him .1 goal in 4 for a full back is shite isn't it . I think his on field demenour and personality put people off him . we've never bought someone like that before have we. still on 22.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 18:29:16
@DeepRiverBhoy

He also played up front, which is where most of his goals have come from, so let's not fudge the truth here. This has been the only season he's been consistently at right back - and yes, he has four goals. He also managed seven last year in the division beneath us.

David Raven, Shay Logan, Ryan McGowan, Steven Anderson, Joe Shaughnessy are all better full backs in my opinion - and that's not to mention Efe Ambrose, Saidy Janko and Darnell Fisher, who are all better as well.

My opinion of him has nothing to do with his onfield demeanor - just the fact he isn't good enough and your dressing up of the facts and pretending he wasn't a striker (when using his goal tally as some sort of defence of his lack of ability to defend) doesn't disguise the fact.

Tavenier has scored quite a lot of goals this season, as has Lee Wallace - I wouldn't have any of them in our team as neither is a particularly good defender.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jan 2016 18:45:58
Pp . I know he has played up front and in midfield I never said or intended to say he scored all his goals from rb . is it not a positive he can cover these positions? . we have had strikers and midfielders with worse ratios than that. i'm not going to try and change your mind . as neither I ( or you? ) care about forcing opinions . but imo at 22 and what I've seen of him he would be good for us.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 19:28:27
@DeepRiverBhoy

How can you say you never intended to say he scored all his goals from right back? You said and I quote, "he has 27 goals in 107 appearances" and followed that with "1 goal in 4 for a full back is s****". That's exactly what you were saying. You either didn't know he played up front for a majority of those goals, or you were being duplicitous.

Moving on from that- is flexibility a good thing? To an extent yes but I'd rather a master of one trade than a jack of all - and further more, I don't care if he can play in every position, if he's not good (enough) at any of them, I don't want us to sign him.

Finally, at 22 he's older than Janko and Fisher so I don't think that's a huge draw.

But as you say, it's your opinion and I appreciate that. We'll just need to agree to disagree.

Agree0 Disagree2

16 Jan 2016 20:21:11
I think your getting a bit too heated in your replies pp. He is now playing as a settled full back now which is why I suggested him as a lustig replacement. . his record is as i said 27 in 107 . so far this season is 5 in 20. 1 in 4 ratio. to get these figures I had to read up onhim which means I saw his career playing record so knew he played other positions. . let's draw a Line under it now as I can't go online petty arguments .

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 21:21:45
I'm not heated at all - and it wasn't a petty online argument, it was a debate on an online banter site. But you're right - let's just draw a line under it.

I surprised that Southhampton got Charlie Austin for £4m, ok his wages will break or limit but £4m for a proven striker seems a bargain for EPL. I wonder if this pushes Shane Long down the pecking order at Southampton.
Let's hope we can get a striker in the window. Icing on the cake would be to get Ajer in the summer.

Just thought I'd post this for anyone starting out in the world of streaming. You don't need a T8 box or any android box to do this you only need an android device, any android smartphone or tablet eg hudl, galaxy etc not I phone or I pad . The simple set up is download kodi from playstore onto your device then google search get Ares wizard for kodi there you get simple step by step instructions from a bloke Michael once the Ares wizard is installed on Kodi it is just a case of going into addons and installing NJM soccer, sportsdevil, genesis, phoenix etc, everything you need is in this wizard. Guaranteed 10 mins this will take you from start to finish. If you have a decent download speed it is better i'm with Virgin and getting 60 ish mbps which pretty much gives flawless streaming. i'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs here but I notice a lot of posts asking about android boxes streaming etc. It really is simple even I can set it up.

16 Jan 2016 12:31:13
That's a fair point stevie but I've had a cheap box for over a year. I then switched to doing it through my laptop and plugging it into the tv. Over Christmas I purchased the t8 and it's the best £65 I've spent. The machine is hassle free. Good quality and has everything. I've wasted so much time with the cheap box and laptop. So while all the things you've said are true. I'd say for convenience and quality I would spend the money and get the t8.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - what makes it better? Out of interest. Having always used desktop, laptop, tablet or phone, I have never bothered with an android box myself, wondered what makes it better.}

16 Jan 2016 12:39:04
I downloaded Kodi on my laptop and works fine too. Will need to look into getting some kind of android box though connecting thel laptop to the telly every time you want to stream a match can be a pain.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 12:57:47
If the laptop, tablet or phone your using is old and running slow you are wasting your time installing kodi on it with all the addons.Ive got a T8 box in the living room and use my hudl tableti which is relatively new and not full of junk for tele upstairs and there is no difference both work perfectly

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would always say to do a factory reset and then removing anything unnecessary before setting up kodi etc.}

16 Jan 2016 13:08:58
Correct ed infact I recommend anyone that is already using kodi and having problems to go to fresh start on kodi and follow instructions for Ares wizard by googling get Ares for kodi all the best addons you need are here except robocop which you can install separately

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 13:09:14
It's just my opinion ed 001. The cheap box was a constant let down. I've got the highest speed broadband but you'd sit down to watch a film and it would take half an hour to get it going or a decent stream. For footie it would be half time before you get a stream if you got one at all. So the cheap box was no good. So I tried the laptop but every time you wanted to watch somethin it was a bit of a chore and I had the same problems getting things to work or spending time setting up. So with all this in mind I was sceptical about paying for the t8 Incase that was the same. I can honestly say it's just like anther virgin box. It's fast the programmes are preloaded. I don't even have to watch foreign tv for the footie as sly works just as well. Maybe it's the way I've downloaded kodi onto my other devices but I can't recommend this t8 enough mate. Really happy with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is a problem your end mate. There is little power required for streaming, so a cheap box will run a stream fine. It would be worth giving your old one a factory reset and wiping off any extra programmes you don't need, then just setting it up with the programmes you do need. Just in case you ever need it in the future, or if you want to use it on a different TV.}

16 Jan 2016 13:15:04
Stevie I did a speed test for my sly broadband with various ones I found online. They all come in at around about 10mb! I take it that is a poor speed? I do have my box wired to router so streams are usually ok but do buffer still from time to time.
For anyone interested I got the t8 from entertainment box ( cheers edd07) you pay a little more but it's a far superior box it automatically updates for you and is 4K enabled etc. The guy is on hand via social media, email and phone and YouTube videos for any after sale inquiries or problems. I don't do tech but found step by step guides on the web and YouTube vids, as Stevie says will take about 10 mins to set up.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 13:20:44
I don't doubt for a second that both the lap top and cheap box are down to the way I've been running them. I'm just saying the t8 is so easy and it's just like a normal tv box it's quick it's simple and it's really good quality. Hopefully it keeps updating its self because that's when the problems start if I have to touch it. I would still recommend it to anyone who isn't sure of installing and operating the programmes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers mate.}

16 Jan 2016 13:39:05
Briggs I recently got my speed upped by virgin they sent me another router all for a one off fee of a fiver (thanks ed007 for letting me know about this) and I jumped from 20 odd mb to 60 odd immediately and that did make a difference. I've had my box for a while now and the best thing I done recently was fresh start as I had a lot of rubbish on it from not really knowing what I was doing when I first got it. I installed the Ares wizard and it has only the best addons for installing . If one of the addons plays up simply un install it through the wizard and re install and it always installs latest updates and takes seconds to do

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 13:41:41
For those who want something a lot more stable there is a pay service (nothing to do with me ed incase u think I'm flogging lol) called iptv stalker there's over 1000 channels and can be incorporated with a tv guide last time I checked it could be picked up for $65 for the year there a massive outfit so wouldn't see any worries about taking money and running.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2016 13:44:53
Got a T8 box as well as having Kodi on a few devices. The T8 box is hard wired and I have around 28mbps bandwidth. I think you need about 2mbps or higher for a decent stream. Hard wired is always best and I use plug in lans that save on having cables everywhere. Best free for sports is phoenix woody. I use sportsmania which is excellent and works out about £4 per month and they have just released an app which you can use on your devices.

That's not true about little power for streaming. For example the prem pass streams in hd are done at a very high bitrate which is why there are alternative links. Older boxes and devices may struggle with these streams. Also if buying a box be careful many Chinese clones don't always have what they claim.
As Stevie pointed out ares wizard is great add on I sent instructions though to android thread few days ago not sure if it got received but rather than Steve suggested installing add ons have a look in the custom builds there's some good ones there that are updated regularly.

I'm terrible with builds always chopping and changing really liked tb build but have gone back to blackbox as its a very small file ideal for boxes with little storage such as firesticks. The blackbox build I've noticed is not on ares at the moment it usually is but for anyone wanting to try it the source address is

Massive congratulations to Leigh Griffiths for reaching 50 and 51 goals last night. He's had his critics and a lot of it was justified but you have to give him his due for screwing the nut and really kicking on to a whole new level. I also doubt that Griffiths beginning to flourish and realise his potential since RD arrived is a coincidence, so I think the manager deserves a lot of credit too. I like the vibe I get from LG as well though because when Hooper was tearing it up you always got the feeling that he was eyeing the "big" move to the Prem but LG seems to really appreciate the massive opportunity he has to become a legend at Celtic and you can see in his performances that he loves the club.
