The team played a lot better today overall but there were still long spells in the first half where they could have stepped it up but it was still a notable improvement. There's no surprise in the fact that the improved performance was without having Florist, Mulgrew or Samaras in the team AND playing with two strikers up front. Stokes usually goes on bursts of scoring and not scoring so I'm hoping today signalled one of his purple patches coming up but I would prefer to see Balde partner him, I think the big man's physicality could bully defenders allowing space to open up for Stokes and Commons coming into the box.

I thought Biton and Johansen put in strong performances today and Biton should keep his place in the team as the midfield anchor over Mulgrew but I'll be surprised if he does. A good day at the office and with a bit more urgency and a dash of luck we could have had 5 or 6.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have to say that I really enjoyed watching the teamwork today. they really were working hard for each other for most of the game. It is also good to see someone with the obvious skill that Johanson has, grafting the way he does. It looks like he has an engine to match Broonie and an attitude similar to Larsson when it comes to chasing back. let's hope he rubs off on some of our prima donnas

Thought biton was excellent today, johansen looks an excellent signing in my opinion glad to see stokeys back scoring freely, think it might have been beacause we played griffiths up there with him, only critism was when it was 1-0 it didn't look as if we had a plan to break them down it was just keep the ball, but with MON he got players wide & tried to get balls in the box, good preformance anyway. Still think lennys the man for the job to many people were calling for his head last week and your entitled to your opinions!.

In Lennon we trust!

Hail hail

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One game does not change anything with regards to lennon.

He is not tactically aware and has squandered £millions on dud signings.

Certainly not man for job.

In lennon we don't trust

Best thing about today, started taking my 8 year old to see the tic past few matches and the smile on her face blew me away when she looked up and saw the green brigade in full flow she just turned and said dad this is the best time yet, found it amazing, funny, even sang along with them all totally uninhibited, only thing she was worried about when you guys took off your tops, thought you would all get the cold lol, hopefully that's them back fully one because by god we need them, not one (tasteless song! To be heard ) a credit to everyone connected to celtic, well done guys hope you can keep it up, a happy proud father

The balls now in Peter Lawwell's court to make the next move, especially with ST renewals due soon. The GB had CSC's buy up individual tickets for 118 then they done the rest - ie sneak in the two tifo drums and group banner. After 2 months of dire atmosphere and more than a few poor performances the support has been reminded yesterday that Celtic need the GB. Welcome back bhoys!

Agree0 Disagree0

HB
It isn't just about Peter Lawwell. The GB have to abide by the rules that they didn't like before. I think everyone would be delighted to see them back in full song. As long as they're the right songs.
All the other political stuff has to be left at the gate and if they can do that then I'm sure everyone at the club (including Lawwell) will welcome them back with open arms. The GB do add a special atmosphere but it can't be on their terms alone.

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

See at the end of the day, when the team is playing well on the pitch a special atmosphere is created amongst fans and puts them on a high. Its not just the green brigade that cause this to happen, been happening well before they were on the scene.

Basically my point is, everyone and anyone should be allowed to go to games as long as they follow rules set by club.

I go to watch games, not do politics during a game when we are there to support the bhoys

Agree0 Disagree0

@DN30 So you would say it's coincidence that the GB were in attendance as a Group on Sunday + the team played very well in front of a lively atmosphere?

Agree0 Disagree0

@hamiltonbhoy team played well cause of a change of tactics, not because GB were there.

Agree0 Disagree0

But you highlighted "special atmosphere" - had the GB not been there the stadium would've been like the mortuary it's became the last 2 months. The sound of the GB's drums and chants lifted the spirits of the general support, the general support making noise lifted the players, the players lifted their game. Domino effect!

Agree0 Disagree0

Only reason there has been no atmosphere, is cause fans don't want to go to the game cause we have been poor all season not because GB have not been there.

Basically you are stating the team played well cause GB where present. get a life! If GB were not there, Celtic would still have won

Agree0 Disagree0

No, fans aren't singing because the happy clappy fan type don't want too. No doubt we would've won on Sunday, but it wouldn't have been through a good performance, it would've been another scrappy 1-0 or a couple of late goals. As I said, the GB's presence had a domino effect from the fans to the players.

Agree0 Disagree0

So it had nothing to do with a change of tactics, that what your saying aye? Ridiculous statement! GB had absolutely nothing to do with team performance. I think you live in a wee fantasyland.

Nothing against GB, they do add atmosphere but as I've said before when we are playing good there is a natural atmosphere created amongst fans. Its not only GB that cause this.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was a change of tactics, and as I posted elsewhere below that the diamond 4-4-2 worked better than Stokes as a lone striker with Forrest and Sammy on the wing - but a change of formation doesn't purely lift player performance. Lennon stated himself that the atmosphere would've given his players a lift, so lay off the personal insults.

Well done to every single Celic fan who played their part in getting Roll of Honour by The Irish Brigade on behalf of Fans Against Criminalisation to number 32 in the UK Top 40, fantastic achievement.

ALL CELTIC FANS AGAINST THE BILL!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I meant 33 btw! Typo with this daft iPhone.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about all the Celtic fans that are part of "the bill"?

Surely your post should read:

ALL CELTIC FANS AGAINST THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT

since it's the government who makes the law. Or:

ALL CELTIC FANS AGAINST THE CROWN OFFICE AND PROCURATOR FISCAL SERVICE

since it's them who the Police actually work for.

JUST SAYING.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a good achievement and not to take anything away from it but when I told my teenage Son he said 'exciting, who listens to the Charts'?

Agree0 Disagree0

But it's not Celtic fans against the government or crown, it's against the legislation that has resulted in a Celtic fan being remanded for singing the very song that's in the charts. Any money raised from the sale of the single are going to FAC's legal fund. R1 played only a 5 sec clip of ROH, however, they did go in to a bit of detail as to why it's in the charts so it's gained national public exposure which is a success in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

And HB who do you think is responsible for the legislation?

That's like your boss telling you you're only allowed two cups of coffee at work and taking it out on the kettle.

Agree0 Disagree0

See there is now a petition to have it removed. I think we should extend this to everyone we know and get it as high up the chart as we can.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Scottish Parliament passed the legislation a couple of years ago. My main gripe with the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012 is the part that says

"The offence will NOT: Restrict freedom of speech including the right to criticise or comment on religion or non-religious beliefs, even in harsh terms."

Yet Police Scotland are arresting Celtic fans for singing Roll of Honour (a non-religious / non-sectarian Republican song that commemorates 10 Irish hunger strikers who gave their lives fighting for basic human rights) to the charge of "behaving in a way that is likely or would be likely to incite public disorder".

A bit contradictory, is it not?

Green Brigade, I tip my Celtic bunnet in your direction, terrific when in full voice. I feel this team selection would have done an' dusted the Dons last week.
Well done Anthony, and Leigh don't worry, you will hit the net very very soon. Glad Big Fraz kept a clean sheet although we were never tested and could only have been really sleeping to concede a goal today.

The more a see biton the more he looks a crackin player tidy on the ball nice wee bit a skill the day aswel. Hopefully gets a full run a games til the end of the season

Great performance today. You can clearly see the difference with 2 up front! Celtic shouldn't be going 1 up front against anybody and today we proved why. Good response Bhoys! Hail! Hail!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The diamond 4-4-2 definitely works better than Stokes as a lone striker with Forrest and Sammy on the wing!

Where's kev the rev at?we can't have Irish strikers scoring hatricks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Who me?

FFS get a grip of yourself if it is, Stokes scored 3 goals in 1 game, woop de wooo.

Before todays game he scored 15 goals in 56 games. Still not good enough in my book.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stokes having 1 good game does not excuse fact he is not good enough to play for celtic

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not lay off stokes today we all know you hate him

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't see any comments saying Stokes was hated, he is simply not rated.

However, maybe just maybe if we play 2 up top from now on he could potentially change my opinion of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

No complaints about Stokes today from me, scored a hat-trick and took all his goals well.

We all knew he wasn't effective as a lone striker, it's not 'new' for season 2013/14. No coincidence fans have just started moaning this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Kev wasn't specific to you dn30 has stated that he shouldn't even be at the club recently which is harsh. That said he was still underperforming this season but he should still be part of our club as he is a good strike PARTNER.

Agree0 Disagree0

@jim1972 don't see any posts saying any hatred towards stokes. See posts saying one game doesn't change facts. Best if you take time to read posts before commenting

Agree0 Disagree0

@jim1972 total contradiction at (6) make your mind up

Agree0 Disagree0

You continually slate stokes and did say he shouldn't be at club some will take that as hating him

Agree0 Disagree0

@jim1972 (9) i'm puzzled by what you say. At what point have I ever said I hated stokes? That is a total nonsense statement with no reasonable basis. Pathetic to be honest. Doubt fellow supporters would jump to this extreme conclusion

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not a contradiction it's a fact he hasn't had a great season but I maintain it's because he needs to play alongside someone to get the best from him and I have said this many times. You can't keep slating the player if the manager doesn't play to his strength continually.

Agree0 Disagree0

@jim1972 regardless of who he plays up front with or on his own, I have maintained my opinion about stokes since a couple of seasons ago. My opinion is not going to change.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but it riles me when a player can't be cut any slack for one day when he scores a hat-trick. I don't mind players being criticised but the sarcasm is unnecessary towards players who are trying to win matches for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will agree with u that he did have an exceptional game scoring a hat trick, but he is still inconsistent and the past few seasons have verified what i'm saying. At no point though does that mean I hate a player, that's ridiculous

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at the game and it's no surprise he scored three- such was his refusal to pass when the opportunity arose. If you insist on hitting every shot, some (hopefully) will go in. He took his goals well, but his teamwork is atrocious- and I was paying close attention to LG, who continually made great runs. I lost count of the times I seen his hand go up for a pass, or pointing for a through ball that never came. And he took his "offside" goal very well. I like AS, and I really wanted him to take the mantle when GH left, but it's just not happened.

Well bhoys a fine performance from the hoops, very impressed with johanson and biton looked very comfortable in possession griffiths looked sharp also and good to see the green brigade back home, would like to see a bit more of boerrigter ( Ajax player must be good enough for a first team start for the hoops when fit) and balde / pukki all in all good all round performance and descent support at paradise today .

Hail hail

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very good all round and we were strolling to be honest. Broony needs a wee rest he has been off the boil for a few weeks and might be carrying a knock and we have plenty cover.
Stokes does my napper in; he showed today what he can do and some of his goals and link up play have been very tasty, but he is not consistent enough week to week over a season.
Anyway a good victory and well done big Forster on the shut-out record.

I must admit that Darnell Fisher is really making a case for himself. Looks really good today. IMO we have three right backs that could compete for a starting place. Thoughts?

Good to see green brigade back hail hail

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree with you Jim. Love hearing them sing.

Hail hail!

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazing seeing them there today. But it's not official, they bought tickets for 118 without the board knowing it was the group then smuggled the drum and banner in. Lawwell won't know what's hit him!

Hey All,

Not posted for ages due to work and home issues but still love reading this site, Ed 007 top job:)

Ref :- Lenny's "outpouring" regarding his treatment by all and sundry in Scotland since his arrival as a player.

After reading some of the rags, does anyone else get the feeling that the MSM smell blood and are trying to twist the knife and finally get shot of the person that they despise with so much vigour? I'm not defending Lenny in any way and am not happy like everyone else at what has been happening this season but I have to admit it will really itch my sh1t if the MSM and Scumco 5088 get their wish.

Personally I am sick fed up of that mob being able to say what they want about anything with no reprisals from their daddy (oglivie/SPFL/SFA) or even worse the heirarchy at Celtic. Without letting my heart rule my head there is no way on earth that I could sit back and listen to the constant rubbish that some wee new club were gobbing off about and not put them in their wee teeny tiny place. Do they know something?

PL really needs to stand up and flex his muscles for the club, the fans and in the transfer market.

I have just fell of my chair, according to personter. Here is the line up for today

Forster; Matthews, Ambrose, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Biton, Johansen, Commons; Stokes, Griffiths.

Zaluska, Balde, Pukki, Samaras, Boerrigter, O'Connell, Fisher

The greek goon can't be on the bench can he? Maybe NL is deflecting the stories in the papers about him quitting! Certainly it distracted me LOL

Really hope Samaras doesn't start today; Griffiths, Balde, Pukki and Stokes are more than enough to permutate a strike force plus Commons of course.
I am still angry after last weekend, but everyone outside Celtic (especially SLY) will be hoping for a slip and I want The Bhoys to ram it right up them.
Lennon and the team owe the support a big apology and can start by getting tore in from the KO.
