I do not use the terms "respected journalist" and "the Times" in the same sentence.
But this is THE TIMES (not the comic Evening Times from Glasgow") and NOT ANY "journalist" employed by that rag.
No the respected journalist is Martin Ziegler who reported "ENGLISH fans causing trouble in Seville" on hearing other English journalists trying to excuse it by saying over 2,000 fans travelled, "you are bound to get a few drunken idiots" Mr Ziegler replied "I was in Seville in 2003, and witnessed 80,000 Celtic fans having a drink but ZERO TROUBLE".

Hi good afternoon everyone; first a few observaions about the last week or so.
1 Griffiths glad he missed the internationals, he cannot be blamed for what was a complete cock up I just wished a few more players had called off before the games hopefully some will not be fit for next months fixtures and be rested for what is going to be a tough season more of that later.
2. Keep your eye on Ryan Porteous at Hibs this boy looks like he can defend
3. BR comments on the squad lead me to believe that lots of players could be gone in the next 18 months
As many as 20 could be gone including some surprizing names Gordon Lusnig and Sinclair.

Just saw the goals from the International at Hamden and Gordon looked static and slow to react - just like in Austria with Celtic and I will be delighted when he is replaced permanently.
Bain should be first choice - at least until the window - so he could establish himself and we could see if he is consistent/ good enough?

Based on what mate he's hardly played and in the cup game he looked a bit suspect a few times. Think a new keeper is answer.

Not long to we get back to normality on Saturday and we can forget about the nonsense of International Football.
What's everyone's thoughts on Sat especially with Leigh Griffiths?
I won't start with the wee man as he never plays well against his beloved Hibs. I love the guy but let's be honest he struggles to get up to it for this game. The 3 points is more important so it's French Eddy upfront on his own for me.
The only change from the St Johnstone game will be Broony in and McGregor playing on the wing to accommodate One up front. 🍀🍀.

These international breaks seem to drag in. We have a few hard games coming up against Hibs, RB Leipzig, Hearts, Dundee, Hearts and Leipzig again. let's see where we are after these 6 games ( Hopefully 5 out of 6 and a draw in Germany) .

Delighted to see the back of Internationals and dearly hope we carry on from where we left-off in Perth.
Griffiths is not my main concern as he knows if he doesn't do it he ends up on the bench; I am more worried about us falling back into the slow, deliberate build up with Broony back in contention?

I agree would leave broony resting and start with team that played in Perth. Keep broony fresh on the bench but ready for Liepzig game as he will will be needed then. Think SPFL we need to be more dynamic and SB does seem to slow it down too much. Very much like Bitton used to do when involved.

My friends meeting with Brendan Part 2

First of all for the likes of Jimtim etc, I was being diplomatic, yes most fans knew what the manager was saying to my friend, he was hardly going to give a warts and all interview to a fan, albeit one he knew. But he opened up on these things, most are "no name no pack drill" to protect their identity.
My pal asked about his relationship with the Scottish press and was told by our manager that he quickly got to know the trustworthy ones. He chuckled as he told this story. At a scheduled press conference, he asked two of the known sevco pressmen to come a bit earlier and "he might have something for them" when they duly appeared, he walked past them both with a rival reporter, who was a bit more trustworthy and gave him a 15 minute interview, then came out and told the other two "sorry boys HE GOT HERE EARLIER" and walked away smiling. Winking to my pal, he said "something I learned from stories about Big Jock Stein"
Apparently he thinks the standard of manager in the SPFL is top notch and is proud so many Northern Irish bosses are up here. He also rated Steve Clark and Jack Ross highly, when asked about Stevie boy, he smiled and said "I was talking about GOOD MANAGERS"
When my pal tried to get him to name the referees he disliked, he was more reticent but told a story of one referee, who after another typical closed eye performance, approached Rodgers who simply said "you have just confirmed everything I heard about your refereeing"
My friend did get one wee insight from Brendan when asked about possible signings, he shrugged his shoulders and said "myself and our scouting guys have given some names to the board, but "WE ALSO DID THAT IN THE SUMMER" But then added with another wink, "this time I am more confident of players coming in" (My friend read between the lines here meaning thanks to Dermot Desmond)
Brendan then surprised my pal by saying, "I have to take some blame also for making my fair share of signing mistakes" (again reading between the lines my friend thought of Commper and Musonda)
In finishing, my friend came away thinking that Brendan would be here for 10 in a row, IF he is given proper backing. My own thoughts as a Celtic fan, are that things look to be back on an even keel at the club, and wait and see what positive developments are made and which players we sign and what players we let go. , in Brendan we Trust.

About 8 or 9 should be going in January. A CH is a priority for Boyata leaving in January. I would let Alan, Benyu, DDV, Compper, Hazard, Hayes, Kouassi, Gamboa and Ralston leave. Bring in another CH a RB and a box to box midfielder.

Can't complain with half them players leaving but maybe say Hazard, Ralston and Kouassi leave as a loan. As mentioned can see us splashing the cash to get in Powell who can cover both ST and CAM. RB and CB priority, Money needing spent not loans. Possibly a LW (loan) if Arzani is sent back to Citeh.

Rat or not, he's bagged 3 goals in his last 4 games for Scotland which is excellent International form.
