This international thing truly rips my knitting. The boy Christie is a case in point, hitting momentum and finally making a mark and then we stop yet again for this pointless nonsense. Roll on the league!

I think many supporters agree with you. The amount of time the players have been distracted and diverted, while their club momentum has been interrupted is ridiculous.
I accept players want to represent their country, but why do we need these excessive fortnight breaks for 1/ 2 competitive matches?
In times gone by the players were called-up a couple of days before the game was played and were back at their clubs the day after and the domestic programme was more or less left intact;
plus, our International rating was never as bad as this while our season went unhindered or overstretched with a 4-6 week extension?
These players have been away for over a week before the first game actually KO's and these 'breaks' are making the football season congested with multiple rearranged fixtures in close succession.
This leaves us with a much shorter close-season for R&R when you consider these crucial European qualifiers are in July.

Ed 007 I disagree with some posts that much recently not only do I think we should reinstate the thumbs down option I think we should have a (1) thumbs up (2) a thumbs doon (3) a boo and (4) a boo ya basatard option for those occasions when boo juist isnae enough. Whits yir thoughts Ed?

{Ed007's Note - No chance! It helps keep the place clean and tidy.}

Ah knew you’d say that Ed you were delighted tae juist see the thumbs doon go! 😂👍 How’s the dug daen?

{Ed007's Note - He's being a pain in the butt because he can't get out the back door all day lol.}

I’m with JFP in this one.

15 Nov 2018 21:40:10
I think getting rid of the disagree button was a bad idea, but I agree that it was getting abused by people just disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing, why don't you reinstate it, but make it so you can see who is doing the disagreeing and agreeing, if that's possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Nov 2018 23:28:45
Society can only move as fast as it’s slowest members. The disagree thing was a real head scratcher for me too sometimes. Convenient as shorthand but stifles decent debate imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Let's be honest, Davie, we're all adults and there's no problem with disagreeing and arguing the toss over stuff but if all you can offer to a debate is a wee thumbs down you need to evaluate where you are in life.... and then there's the complete sad wallopers who keep thumbing up their own posts! Like we never noticed that lol

16 Nov 2018 00:12:55
Hahahaha aye, nowt inaccurate there! Gottae admit I’ve lazily hit an odd disagree and moved on and I’d give a wee thumbs up to someone with a good point but I really hope I’ve never given myself a thumbs up on here even when proper peeshed! Btw been snowed down with work last wee while, read something suggesting your dog wasn’t well, hope he’s on the mend. HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate but it's nothing serious lol he's had a bit of a cold for a week or so and the wee $hit's milking it - that and the back door being closed has put him in a depression lol

16 Nov 2018 01:07:31
Sometimes when your’re tailgating a BMW at 90 on the M74 and trying to eat your fish supper at the same time, an agree/ disagree button is about all you can manage.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sounds like how they done the Brexit vote...

16 Nov 2018 09:15:32
With more catastrophic consequences.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It would be hilarious if it wasn't so serious. I see the Norn Iron Klan and their Scottish lackeys are pinning their hopes on Jacob Rees-Mogg now - has anyone told them that Rees-Mogg is a practising Roman Catholic who tries to attend Tridentine Mass, recites the Rosary daily and is someone who has spoken out against anti-Catholic bigotry numerous times?
The Catholic Herald has had more articles in it by Rees-Mogg than The Pope!}

16 Nov 2018 18:38:26
So we end up with another PM that nobody voted for.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's a massive clusterf*ck and I don't see anyway out of it before things get even worse than they are.}

Admitted to hospital last night and currently lying in a bed wondering if this International break could be referred to the human rights council as a cruel and inhuman act. Absolute torture!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I hope it's nothing too serious buddy, take care and get well soon.}

17 Nov 2018 02:57:53
Bit of a mystery tbh but hopefully fighting fit soon. Thanks!

{Ed007's Note - No worries 👍

During this awful, awful international break I was talking to different people, including my ex bear pals, and I asked these questions.
Most of us agree that "dolly mixture" deserved a red card, despite the referee missing is as usual in any Celtic games. But was that head gesture any more "violent" than McGregor's kick out at Ajer which that referee deemed OK as did the Compliance Officer.
Second point, I made was regarding all the withdrawals from Scotland, I maintain players are not "disloyal" to the country, but cannot stand that fud Mcleish.

Compliance officer referrals have caused more controversy and suspicion than ever. In times of VAR, multiple camera angles and digital technology, it seems crazy that it falls to three faceless establishment has-beens to make these decisions.
On the subject of EBT, the guy is seriously behind the times and has failed miserably in several management jobs in recent times. I would imagine that players from clubs with modern-thinking, successful managers have to really make an effort to dumb-down to his level and find his methods several steps backwards in their development.

Just seen an online poll regarding a new deal for Mikel Lustig. 3000 people polled and a 65% swing towards not renewing his contract. It's obviously a difficult one for the supporters. Lustig has given us the best years of his career and has been a great servant to the club. Unfortunately though, I've got to agree with the poll. Lustig will be on a very decent wage and any new deal will take that into account. This is money that could be freed up for a new player/ players. Lustig is looking slow in games and was seriously lacking in the later stages of the Liepzig game.
Celtic is a football club and we need to be ambitious in who we contract to play for us and there is no room for sentiment.
Harsh, I know but Lustig over the last few months has shown me that his time is up.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - What about Scott Brown? It was only a couple of seasons ago people were saying he was garbage, injury prone etc well now we've seen we can play without him - some even say we're better without him and that he slows our play down - he's spent a lot of time injured as well so should we offer him an extension or save the wages of the top earner at the Club?
Remember there's no place for sentiment.}

15 Nov 2018 10:52:58
Didn't want to get into the Scott Brown debate but your correct Ed, that also has to be looked at. You can't have a rule for one and not the other. Before he was injured, Scotty was a rock in defence but since he's been sidelined the team looks to have improved a great deal. This could be put down to the completely different way we play without him.
This is about Lustig though, and in my opinion, he gets shown up far too often and struggles to keep up with play. Sorry, but for me, he should be moved on.

15 Nov 2018 11:26:29
I don't believe that it's down to brown being out we are so much quicker.
It's just that a lot of players have hit their form at the same time.
Both brown and lustig would get contracts from me but lustig would be heading towards being the back up for both RB and CB.
Both players bring so much more than just what they do on the park and I think fans forget that sometimes.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Nov 2018 12:54:21
I would give lustig a new deal. Probably 12 months with option to extend for 12 months. I know lots of people are saying he is finished but I'm wondering does he just need a rest? He has played in WC and a ridiculous number of games in 2 years.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Nov 2018 17:55:55
Celtic is a football club and there’s no room for sentiment? There was me thinking we were born of famine and oppression and a club like no other with other motives than pure profit and pound notes. I hope Lustig doesn’t read the banter page and neither does KT or he will see the thoughts of 65% of supporters when it comes to loyalty.

Agree2 Disagree1

15 Nov 2018 19:45:41
I’m one of those ed but that’s a moment thing at the moment we’re playing better without him bhoys who have the shirt deserve to keep it. That said broony is a class act as far as I’m concerned but that doesn’t mean he had to play there’s no way with such a young team that we could do without his influence even if it’s just in the dressing room but knowing we can call on him that’s a great plus. Lustig new contract def for me the bhoy has earned it no room for sentiment? Sorry but I disagree I do agree we need another rb but Lustig like Izzy are great back ups.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd definitely be giving Lustig an extension too, he brings a lot to the squad and the youngsters all look up to him as a senior member of the squad.}

15 Nov 2018 19:46:42
Ed, I personally believe that Scott Brown is past his best and will be off to Australia, in the belief that it for the best interests of family, in my opinion I would do anything to gain the opportunity to move over there but unfortunately my wife disagrees.

{Ed007's Note - Don't take her then.}

Broonys here for ten and rightly so enjoy the performances for now but we’re going to need him 🍀.

Brown past it? Lustig out the door? I seem to remember quite recently that Ryan Christie was ‘not good enough’. Thankfully, we’ve got people running the club who actually know what they’re doing and they make the decisions about who we offer contracts to.

15 Nov 2018 21:46:04
Bang on coybig as I said above it’s about the moment and at the moment these bhoys are doing well. Sunday v Livi we actually missed broony hard away games when someone needs to step up it’s usualky him.

Any news on the following rumours?
-benkovic staying for season (a must)
- boyata till end of season / new contract
- RB to replace lustig
- Lustic new contract as back up
- paddy Roberts return
- back up striker signing

These are the main squad issues we need to solve IMO, although paddy is a luxury item.

Striker wise calvert lewin or solanke till end of the year would my preferred, with. View to permanent similar to Eddie.

Love big Eddy, but his hold-up play needs a lot of work and starting to forget what wee Griff looks like - so we really need another quality striker. As for Roberts - he had his chance and preferred to go elsewhere and to be honest, I don't think BR wanted him, or he wouldn't have brought in Morgan and kept Mikey Johnston?
Right-back and centre-back situation needs long term solution and we definitely need to shift at least half a dozen or so from the squad who are picking up wages for virtually nothing.

Someone in my work mentioned that someone from Celtic was recently reported in Spanish papers talking with Gudetti but I'm assuming this has to be mince considering how terrible his attitude was while on loan!?
