Thanks for that Ed I did not see it when it was on Very interesting I loved what BR was saying and I think he is very articulate and political also the way he answered which is good IMO.

Agree3 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - No probs, Tony. I think it's a very honest interview and just shows again the class of the man Brendan Rodgers is.}

Is anyone else get a bit worried with Stuart Armstrong's contract situation? I had heard everything was agreed weeks ago but it all seems to have went quiet.

15 May 2017 15:02:25
If you are Ed then we all should be! Is there genuine interest from WBA?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yes along with Everton and Newcastle too. Armstrong has always said he fancies a crack in the German league so I'm sure his agent could drum up some interest over there too.}

15 May 2017 15:34:11
Well come the end of the month he's in the final year of his contract. And that ain't good.

So what's happening? Either: It's just a case of crossing Ts and dotting Is and we're about to hear some good news; we're playing hard ball and need to pull our finger out and give one of our best players what he deserves; or he wants off, in which case we need to cash in.

In January he was talking up his relationship with BR, how he felt settled at Celtic for the first time and what a privilege it was to be winning trophies and playing CL football. So it's certainly odd to have had no developments.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We need to get Armstrong tied down so fingers crossed we're worrying over nothing

15 May 2017 16:09:24
its all sorted 4 year deal seemingly he was mumping and moaning to other players mid season about his mate gms not getting a game but he seams to be over that now hence rodgers recently giving him the captains armband a couple of times to sweeten him up for signing the deal, their meant to be holding it back to announce in cup final week.

Agree7 Disagree4

15 May 2017 16:10:55
I wasn't til you mentioned it ed. I figured it was just a matter of timing of the announcement. Id like to think he's above the likes of west brom n newcastle and was going to be with us for another 3/ 4year before heading off on a euro adventure. Be a huge loss for us in the way he has developed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's never good going into a summer window with one of your top players entering the final year of his deal but hopefully the Club are making the right noises to SA and his agent over it.}

15 May 2017 17:38:30
He played well for Scotland in their last World cup match, maybe the interest has stemmed from there.
Hopefully he'll sign, but the crazy money players can earn in the English Premier league is always going to be hard to compete with.

15 May 2017 18:49:26
I've heard he is supposed to be signing new deal in Cup Final week, but that's just a rumour I've heard.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I heard that about the cup semi too, JB. I hope you're right.}

15 May 2017 19:22:17
I said the same thing to a few mates about a month ago Ed. SA was the one player I thought we could loose this summer. The longer it drags on without an announcement the more nervous I am getting.

He has been outstanding this season. I know we all have a tendency to inflate the ability of our players but I think he is our answer to Frank Lampard. I don't mind taking pelters for that. He is a player going places and will improve beyond recognition over the next few seasons. He should be given a bumper deal because he is going to be top class.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 May 2017 20:37:55
I reckon itll be before the cup final, can't see him going atm, seems a level headed kid.

15 May 2017 20:41:14
Armstrong is in my eyes is our captain in waiting. He is turning into one of of most important players.
The next 3-4 years we will see the class player that he is .

Good morning Ed

Wondering if you have any info on the rumour of renewed interest from the Board in South Stand expansion along with the Hotel / Museum complex and Stadium Naming Rights.
I think 10 yr timing could be right to put us out of sight for at least a generation

Also any plans afoot for further figures for the Avenue of Heroes?
For me next two could be Willie Maley and Jimmy McGrory

Kind Regards

Johnnybhoy.

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything new mate, sorry. Brian Wilson chaired a meeting with the Celtic Trust a couple of weeks ago where it was said that all the plans are in place but there's no estimated time of any work starting.}

Wee Fergus should be getting a statue next for me.

Another "only in Scotland story"
Apparently at the junior match betwwen St Rochs and Larkhall, which the away team won prompting great celebrations which of course included several sectarian songs from the triumphant, but dignified away support. (well I suppose they are not used to seeing a team win)
The St Rochs manager complained to both the senior policeman in charge at the ground and a senior SFA official about the sectarian chants which marred the end, both officials told him "the Larkhall fans were provoked by someone waving a green flag"
Cue Union Jack wanting the flag waver arrested.

It must be UJ's namesake in ET reporting it.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2017 16:00:32
@timalloy - st rochs played the junior team from my village last season and by all accounts were vocal but not out of order. Maybe they are more precious about that kind of thing in Larkhall? One mans flag is another mans red rag to a bull. Send for Pedro to sort it out!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2017 16:18:37
As usual UJ trying to blame the St Rochs fans for the trouble, if you read post properly (take off your blue bigoted specs first) the paper said LARKHALL fans were doing the sectarian abuse, ala you and your sevco mates, but tried to justify it like you also do by saying but they waved a flag at us. UJ stop the "whataboutery" and just condone bigotry of any kind, but that would be hard for you, as I keep saying, "if the cap fits wear it"

Agree1 Disagree0

15 May 2017 16:48:37
Supposed to have been about 200 Larkhall fans belting out the klans favourite ditties the st rochs manager has came out and slaughtered them. well a suppose they need something to cheer them up.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2017 18:53:31
@timalloy - as usual you come out with the bigotry nonsense. Where in my post have I said St Roch's were out of order? I'm actually sticking up for them. Their display against my local junior side was the talk of the village for weeks with nothing derogatory said against them.
As usual you have taken the morally offended route and your post / argument loses all substance.

Just catching up on some posts re: Moussa and the seemingly endless fixation with the press to sell our players.

What i would like to ask is why are some of us worried if he goes? Is this not the point of this type of signing? The boy has enormous talent let's be honest, but on the honesty front he has a way to go for me to be thirty million.

If he leaves we will be rewarded well, there is no doubt there, but have we forgot Griffiths? Forty goals last year and looks to have listened to the warning BR gave him on lifestyle. Given that we are not exactly desperate, BR also has been working with young Jack it seems, the cash would give us a chance to up the ante.

Having said that i do think he will stay. The interview with his agent, who seems to actually want the best for him as opposed to a percentage if a move, was very revealing. The one certainty is this window will be as interesting as it will be crucial.

This seasons spread of goals is testament to the style we play and, with a bit of a tweak for tough Euro away games, we will play the same style. I think Man City away showed enough to suggest that. that's when the more physical striker is handy.

Nothing has changed, he's not going to leave us unless it is for a TOP side. And a top side where he will be playing. Let's not forget why Juve, Spurs and Chelsea didn't materialise. And you're right, if he does go, we'll have made one hell of a profit on him, which hopefully will be reinvested properly.

More of a point would be that why do the press continually push for quality players and managers to leave Scotland and run to the money in England . Everyone slates the standard but how is it meant to improve if anything decent that comes onto it, is rushed straight out. I appreciate they need to create headlines but even with br, he's only been here a season and they keep asking him when he will have enough. They should be championing quality coaches, managers and players and maybe then the league may improve.

Ha ha as usual my horse tip bombed (probably because of it's name lol)
But at least my footie tips provided some cash, all 6 odds on teams won in europe, yes I know not earth shattering but hey a six timer is a six timer, add in my Real and Barcelona other bets and a nice wee profit made.
Before the doubters come on, I know juventus lost, that is why I did my six timer first then did a second one but perming them as a saver.

Well done Tim, I looked at Juve also and I was getting 2/ 1 on the exchanges.
I was suspicious of this till I saw their team, a weakened side esp in defense which is usually inpregnable so I left it much to my relief and bet Roma instead lol.
