I'm not sure if it's too early but does anyone know who our possible champions league opponents could be?

{Ed007's Note - I've not even looked at it yet, sorry.}

Celtic enter at the 2nd Q Round which is made up of 34 teams - 31 teams* enter at this round, alongside the 3 winners (out of Levadia, HB, Santa Coloma, Banants, Lincoln Red Imps + the Sammarinese champs) from the 1st Q Round.

We're currently the 2nd highest seeded team in the first two qualifiying rounds behind Steaua.

From memory, I'm sure they divide the teams into regional pots. So, for, example - The Northern pot will consist of Celtic, Ventspils, HJK, Malmo, KR, Stromsgodset, TNS, St Pat's, Levadia, HB, Cliftonville, Zalgiris, etc.

Ed any more news on whether Lenny will still be in chare next season? I know you mentioned before that you didn't really expect him to be.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It all seems a bit up in the air just now and it depends who you believe whether NL will be manager next year. I actually thought he would leave this summer before I wanted him to. If he stays this coming season he is more or less committing himself to another two years, if Sevco get promoted next summer and NL leaves it will look like he is running scared from them and he won't want that. I felt that this year would either prove he had what it takes to manage in the EPL or prove that he has taken CFC as far as he can and I have serious doubts that he will ever replicate CL success (last 16) again. The way things stand with the current management team and quality of squad I think CL qualification is a huge ask for us next season.
As far as I know there has been no discussions yet between NL and Peter Lawwell regarding the vacant assistant manager position which can't be a good sign. }

Hi Ed, do you think the board hopes he leaves of his own accord and they won't have to fire him or are they happy with their yes man who can spend £6mill on a player but who doesn't!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If NL leaves it will be an amicable split, at least in public. I know one board member has raised concerns about his ability to move the club on and his questionable cup record.}

Surprise, surprise Gareth Crooks deadline is long past . Norwich issued a statement last Saturday to say they would announce the name of their new manager within a week.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Garth Crooks tw@tter account was a fake, Chris. Tw@tter is a total pain in the ar$e at this time of year for spreading BS.}

I know. I was only trying to be a bit sarcastic. But Ed, Didn't it start a whole wad of betting on Neil Lennon for the Norwich job?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't follow bookies odds and stuff as I am not much of a gambler Chris but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. It's like Sly Spurts use their 'Sly Spurts understands' stories to manipulate their betting markets, what other news or media outlet tells you the odds of what they are reporting? 99% of the 'Sly Spurts understands' stories never come to anything and will change after a couple of days to get people betting again.}

Thoughts to Danny mcgrain on his heart scare feels as if its constant bad news just now wishing a speedy recovery

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is able to return to Celtic . He is far to young for this. Just the same age as myself

All the best to Danny McGrain after being hospitalised with a minor heart attack. Get well soon, and stop running around so much at your age bhoy, you can't be fit as a fiddle forever!

just want to congratulate albion rovers on there "pay what you can afford" season ticket sails and the people who have backed it

great all round and good to see that there income has increased as a result

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Also read that there are people buying tickets with no intention of going to a game, but instead asking that they are donated to local school kids.

Che
FFS wind yer neck in. You can't criticise Mrs E for giving opinions then try to shove your own down everyone's throat. You're making yourself look like a right c*ck.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Some of what che said is right! Mrs e and che had a lengthy post a while back about kids going to games without parents and pyros! Personally I would rather see teenagers spending their money watching our great club than on drink and junk! But that's my po! Then there was her getting onto che about pyros at games and how it could hurt and cause problems for people with asthma? But stood cheering and waving when Celtic had their pyro display when crowned champions? I think what he was getting at was double standards? Everyone to there own! Accidents happen weather it's an organised display or 1 individual so she has no argument look at the fire works display in the highlands? I think? Full display went off accidentally and lasted 15 seconds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Delbhoy, I'm not saying Che is 100%wrong with his content. It's his poor manner of expressing it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chrisbhoy, I completely agree that there are 2 or 3 high opinionated individuals on here who get 'nasty' when others not share their opinion - and I think most regular readers of this site know exactly who I am referring to.

If people can't talk decently to each other when we are all celtic fans, just don't bother. Go and get yourself a punchbag and a set of mitts if you have rage issues!

Hail Hail

WTBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree wtbhoy! We all come on here for the " banter" a laugh a look at other people's views and opinions! It's all part of curiosity and the want to know if any gossip about our glorious club! @ chrisbhoy I just didn't understand the need for your post even che's original post about mrs e being on the zombie page or multiple log ins. But you butting in and thrusting your opinion of che totally goes against the rest of your argument when you forced your opinion on him with name calling? This is a banter site ffs

Agree0 Disagree0

Delbhoy, so now we're talking about opinions of opinions? You've just given your opinion about my post about my opinion. You didn't need to do that, did you? But you still did it and criticised me for doing likewise.

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Your all talking pish, its only my opinion that counts

Agree0 Disagree0

Aaaargh can we please discuss something celtic? Speedy recovery please Danny!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said river deep bhoy! @ chrisbhoy a personally could give a monkeys f#*k about any ones opinion apart from my own lol but our wee ramy has passed the day! Have a nice night hail hail

Agree0 Disagree0

@6), @7), @8)

I agree.

Hal Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Mrs E might not be in agreement with everyone but she says her piece and gives her opinion. Is that not what a banter page is all about? In the same breath, if you don't agree then you can say so and give your reasons why. But to get insulting is not on for any poster. Accept or disagree but respect opinions. And to clarify, I am not Mrs E in another address. I am currently working in Singapore and if there are anyquestions then I will happily reply to Ed and give my local contact info to prove my validity, Regardless, I still love the banter and will continue to support my team

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It was Mrs E that started all the nonsense accusing people of posting using multiple accounts. Information I can easily find out with a click of my mouse.}

Ed, you might explain to posters about IP addresses etc and how about all electronic information is stored, might put to bed these conspiracy theories once and for all.

People should be very aware about how much information is stored electronically and what can be retrieved from devices that are not working. Before we dump any computer in work we have the harddrives magnetisen by a commercial magnet, also all text messages are stored and recorded. I don't want to put any links up Ed incase it infringes on your advertising revenues. Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Nobody is anonymous on the internet no matter what tricks they think they have up their sleeves. Any fool can trace an IP number using basic software but we use a specialised program that provides more information if required to do so. Don't worry about our advertising revenues, most months we're lucky if it even covers the costs!}

Hope you've no access to my history Ed ;-)!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We can't access your computer ya madman lol that would be illegal ;) Although I did used to tell women on tw@tter that people can remote control their built in webcams. A lot of them actually believed it! Back in the day you needed to use IP addresses to connect to make video/conference calls, it was an arduous and monotonous task, especially when you're trying to connect with Helga in the Ukraine before the viagra wore off and your mam breaks down your room door to see what you were doing with her credit card.
You quirked my interest Rab, I think you should be more worried that your Mrs can't access your internet history, who'd have thought you had something in common with Eddie Murphy and Brendan Rodgers? So I take it you enjoyed this year's Eurovision Song Contest?}

As long as you didn't see me on Rangers Rumours, that's all I care about! Lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Now that's just depraved mate, speak to your doctor.}

Hi Ed, any truth in the rumour that BigRab has a poster of Sammy on his bedroom wall or someone/Something who looks like him!.

Seriously though if someone has access to your computer remotely you could be in big trouble. Most of our IT support is done remotely via "log me in"

About the site not breaking even Ed, what about a nominal joining fee of say £10 or something? It's a great service and it won't be appreciated until it's gone

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We will always aim to keep the sites free BB, charging people to use them defeats the purpose of why they were started. We aren't out to fleece anyone of their hard-earned but for the amount of traffic all the football-rumours sites get it's a poor show that Ed001 is sometimes out of pocket keeping them up and running, people in the UK just don't click on adverts. The NBA/NHL/NFL sites bring in more revenue as Americans seem to click the adverts more and they subsidise the other sites.
I'm sure there was a Paypal button on the sites for a while and people could donate money if they wished but again we would hate for people to think we were begging for their money or putting any pressure on them, and everyone knows none of the Eds make a dime from the sites, we all do it for our love of the sports and our respective teams. Thanks for the compliment about we would be missed by the way, it's not very often we get compliments lol.}

Surely there must be some way that we can voluntary make a small donation, so that Ed O01 is out money as well as time .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it's ok mate, the sites are a labour of love, the extra hits we receive during the World Cup will usually bring in the revenue to cover the shortfalls. Thank you very much for the offer though, it is appreciated, but I hate the thought of people feeling pressured into paying money for something I choose to do, if you get what I mean? The best way to help, without costing you anything in money at all, is actually for as many as possible to enter our competitions. That helps with us getting sponsors and advertisers for the sites, so we can keep them free for everyone. It is much easier to get someone to sponsor stuff if you can point out 10,000 people entered your last comp, rather than 1000. Also advertisers would prefer to have an advert on a page with 10,000 visitors than 1000. So just keeping coming back and (hopefully) enjoying the page and you are helping us a lot.}

Here is the reaality of why we will always struggle financially and we should consider long term security. Cardiff City finished bottom of the EPL and becasue of media coverage, they lifted £62.8 million. Manchester Utd, when they won the title last year recieved £60.8 million.The bottom relegated club recieved £62 million. what chance do we have?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's sickening. One one hand you've got UEFA bringing in FFP rules BUT negotiate the financial punishment (ie Man City giving them a £50m backhander) for not adhering to the rules rather than banning said clubs. Then on the other you've got the English FA cushioning the blow of relegated clubs who have been living outwith their means for the 10 month spell they had in the EPL?!

the exact debate I have been having with people everywhere saying that celtic wouldn't survive in the premiership (i know noone on here is saying this)
but is there something i'm missing here? lol

i think I remember ed posting the income we get and was somewhere like 2.4 million for winning the league and although champions league and that comes with us winning the league we still have to qualify to get the big money coming in

what i'm saying is how would we not challenge in the PL if we were getting 70 million just for more or less taking part

Agree0 Disagree0

At least Celtic in Scotland know fairly well the limits of their income . If sometime in the future the EPL loses its TV money, then financial ruin faces them all.

Agree0 Disagree0

TinyTim, you've sussed it mate! Seriously though, the differences are staggering.

Kieran, true true, I reckon most BPL clubs are scared of Celtic getting in on the action for your reasons.

Can't see the BPL losing TV money any time soon Chris, it'll probably only get bigger the gulf between the SPFL and the big leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

JimTim . I think in the short term you could be right . However its impossible to judge what could happen in 5/10 years time . Anything could happen, the EU could decide EPL teams were getting an unfair advantage and put controls on the TV / sponsorship deals .
That's just an example of what may happen . Anything could go wrong for the EPL . 15 years ago we would never have dream't the Rangers would have died .
