So does anyone think big Boyata is going to sign a new contract or not?
I really hope he does myself like as I think he is about as since world cup he has come on leaps and bounds and can't see us being able sign a replacement as good as him ( CB for 3rd best team in the world )

He will be away in January.

I think if he was going to sign a new contract he would have done so long before now. For me he'll either be sold in Jan or away for free in the summer.

If he doesn't get a decent pre contract offer in January then I think he will look to sign a new deal, but should we be anyone's saftey net?

I hope he signs a new contract, but I think he might not, a lot of football is about confidence and where your head is at, Boyata has as always been a good centre back, he has never came on leaps and bounds in his football ability, it was just his mind was on other things, he was distracted, Moussa going for big money, and then maybe telling him how much more money he could be on, and blah, blah, whatever, distracted him, am surprised how it's went for Moussa at Lyon, thought he was always a hard working team player, when he was fit, then I think the money distracted him a bit, maybe Boyata will look at Moussa, and think if you have a long career at less money might be better than a few years on big money and then it slips and your career is on a downward spiral along with your salary, but it's Boyats choice, . good luck to him what ever he chooses.

Oh dear, I have been asked to put up the following disclaimer by "The Suit"
The money I won was from my TWO (only 2) ex bear pals and NOT from the suit. I can certainly vouch for that as the only way the suit would bet me was if Sevco were 3-0 ahead, us down to 8 men and them getting awarded another penalty in the 90th minute, THEN he would want a bet lol
He was round at our house today with Christmas cards from HIS wife, to Mrs T and the girls. As usual he went on about his "great charity work" yes the suit is shy and retiring. But he approved of the donation we made to the foodbank appeal, I also told him Mrs T and the girls have their own charity Mary's Meals which is a great charity feeding poor kids around the world. The difference between Mrs T and the suit is one donates quietly while the other one wants it announced on News at Ten, I will leave you all to figure out which is which lol
Sadly, despite my best efforts I FAILED to get him to strike a bet with me ha ha.

What's the general feeling regarding Scott brown. Will he go to Australia or stay with us? Personally I think he's still got s lot to offer at Celtic and could easily still play a significant part over the next 2 / 3 years. I'm not saying he'd play week in week out but winning what he has with us, playing regularly in Europe and for me more importantly going down as the captain of Celtic to achieve a possible treble treble, hopefully lead us on to 10 in a row, surely that's a big incentive for him to stay with us? Don't get me wrong if he decides to go to Australia he goes with my best wishes, but really hope he sticks around and creates more history for our club.

He lost his place in the team because he was injured for a brief period, he's nowhere near finished and shouldn't be considering a career swansong down under. If he didn't get injured would he have lost his place?

I would like him to stay but more importantly, I think Brown wants to stay as well.

Therefore, I hope that our hierarchy can reach a deal with him so that he does stay for 10 in a row.

Brown is far from finished and for me still has a role to play. He's arguably been out best player in Europe the past few seasons and is a big game player. Would be first name on the team sheet for me every time against the Huns. Especially at Ibrox.

Scott Brown deserves a new 2year contact. I posted last week that the Team move the Ball a lot quicker without him. But WE NEED him, the game on Thursday proved that. He's our Captain and the experience he brings can't be underestimated. He will lead us to more Trophies.
If he does go well I hope he gets a Mega Deal because the guy is a Winner.

Scott Brown to Celtic is like Francesco Totti to Roma in the sense that he is the Captain, the Heart, the Passion and Strength of the team. I believe he will decide himself when it is time to go. No player should have the automatic right to be on the field and with the midfielders we have there is great competition but at this point in time do any of the others offer what Scott gives us, I don't think so. I hpe he's here for the long haul, following in the footsteps of those who went form playing to coaching.

He has looked after himself very well and still has the appetite and desire to play for Celtic and even though he is approaching the 'veteran' stage, he is streets ahead of any SPL direct opponent and he did make a significant difference on Thursday against a top team.
Admittedly, after losing his place due to injury, we did find a bit of good form and played some great stuff in his absence, but it's far too early to be talking about our captain leaving for a wee while yet.

during the games where we need to dig-in a fight for points, Broonie is the man we want organising the troops in the trenches.

I'm not sure that Brown has been fully fit all season he's seemed a bit below his best in a few of the matches.
Hopefully this break he has had will not only have cured his injury but will have given him a rest and he will come back fresh and firing.

I slyly hope Rodgers comment that he could lose his captain was only said because he knows he is staying. Unusual for us to address anything in the media unless it's to 1 up them.

I'd tell our Magnificent Captain to stay, the A league here in Australia isn't a very great standard, I don't even watch it.
Too busy staying up to the wee hours to watch my beloved Celtic!

It was 4-1 in Commons first game. Aberdeen got a consolation in the second half. We played them a few weeks later in the Scottish cup semi and that game finished 4-0 with all Celtic goals coming this time in the second half.

Was Commons first game not a League Cup semi and I think he scored did he not? A good goal too if I remember correctly.

We have played at Hampden often in the last decade and when we get awarded a penalty it always seems to be at the Celtic end.
Looking back the last 11 penalties we have received have been at that end of the stadium. We have scored 7 and missed 4.
The last one at the other end I think was the game Kris Commons scored on his debut and we beat Aberdeen 4-0.Anthony Stokes made it 4 from a penalty, with all the goals scored in the first half. League cup semi 2011.

I think last night we started the game to not lose ( playing for a draw ) what gave this away for me was the way we let their defenders have the ball with no pressing at all, whenever they had it at the back we dropped off into our own half and sat back inviting them onto us.
We are nowhere near good enough to play this way at that level as was proved.

Royjac u press a team like that you get punished I agree tho wee let them dictate the game.

15 Dec 2018 12:09:19
I don't think it was intentional, they were just a better team than us.

I noticed that as soon as we got the ball, there was at least 1 of their players right on top of us almost immediately to make it difficult for him to move the ball forward as the angles were closed down. However, it was normally 2-3 players closing us down.

The speed at which they closed us down made us nervous, thus causing lots of mistakes that you don't normally see from us domestically.

Had to admire their work rate and fitness levels. They pressed us every time we had the ball and stopped us playing. Simply another level up from us.

They were superb and whilst we didn’t play particularly well, that was mainly due to the fact they were better than us. I thought we did ok under the circumstances and they’ll do the same to a lot of teams. One thing it showed me is that Scott Brown is essential in games like this.

15 Dec 2018 17:24:57
They are definitely a champions league team they wouldn’t look out of sorts still a lot of work for us to do wee need more quality still silly silly mistakes Beeing made with bad pass backs and loseing the ball in ereas of the park that have danger wrote all over them.

For me it was the perfect example of complete high pressing. They all pressed collectively and cleverly and made it seem like they had extra players. We started ok being brave enough to quickly beat the high press and then after that definitely sat off them. We could have at least pressed them anytime the entered our half (similar to Borussia who used this effectively against us previously, instead of sitting back as much due to fear of there threat. Regardless amazingly happy we have qualified that's the only thing that will be remembered. Onwards and upwards. hail hail.

I had my eight year old daughter at CP last night and she asked me at one point why so many Celtic supporters were shouting at the players. I told her they were angry because they weren't playing well and she responded by saying 'but shouting at them will only make them play worse'. Then after the second goal went in she asked me why everyone was leaving and I said it was because we were losing and it there was very little chance of coming back from it. She then said 'but won't that make the players sad'? I felt really proud of her for the fact that she thinks about things the same way as I do. There for 90 minutes, win, lose or draw.
