It is but I think the sewing machines are at work. The papers have already been drawn up to wipe out the prize money with a fine. Fine. It's the perfect spin away from the dbl treble if a banner is displayed. The hun hacks can pretty much take the day off. It's what the record is rather than what's printed in the record that counts down the line.

never usually bother getting involved the political side But after a ex Israelian solider won Eurovision a few days ago who was involved in the highest killing off Palestine kids when she was in the force, totally agree Ryan! absolutely shocking scenes coming out off Gaza.

( sorry to folk if I’m discussing unrelated Celtic stuff, but it does really make my blood boil lol)

It splits the support. I agree completely with the reasons and support for these poor people. If you want to show support be consistent. Protest in your local square, raise money, hand out leaflets and send money to organisations that can be trusted to help the needy. If you can't tick a few of the boxes above and jump on a bandwagon then imo there's no place for it at cp. If it's done for a bandwagon show I'll never agree with it if the club is linked as a platform. It's on the cusp of going tits up over there. A bit of media awareness is F'all.

I agree, what’s happening over there is a human crises, I hope the GB do display suppprt to Palestine in their struggle, as we the Irish experienced struggle that founded this awesome, incredible club and family. ✊🇮🇪🍀 🇵🇸.

Hi, I support Palestine fully and seen the harrowing and disturbing footage on the news. it would show support if the GB Did do some sort of display for Palestine, But would it really change anything? The world know what Israel are like, yet nothing seems to be getting done about it, I suppose a banner or display by the GB might get some attention and might change things, you never know.

Erdogan is calling the tragic events yesterday, genocide, Erdogan, who is the madman president of Turkey, Turkey Turkish military have killed 3000 odds of Afrin civilians and fighters forced Islam on Yazidis, Christians or any other disbelievers, ethnically cleansed 150,000 civilians out of their homes, and now resettling mad Islamists from the so called FSA and other Islamist opposition to Assad, it is a tragedy what happened and is happening in Gaza, but why is o one talking about Afrin, why don't the Green Brigade do one about Afrin.

I understand all your feeling and feel your pain, it's a football stadium not a political arena,
If you feel that bad about it then go there take up the gun/ sling and fight their cause, give them your money.
How many want to sign up? no it's ok, we will just wave a flag.

Waving a flag from behind a crowd, spouting on a forum, and sitting in your warm safe house drinking beer is NOT going to make a big impact.
Let's have the flags for Celtic fans and the tifos.

Agree2 Disagree5

15 May 2018 10:33:33
Why not all those who want to show solidarity with the poor people on Saturday, give up their tickets and congregate in George square?

Why are we, or some of us, hellbent on political issues that seem to only reflect the situation in Ireland? Why no show if dusgust at the slaughter and exile of Muslims in Burma?

Or a hundred other awful situations around the world? This is nothing to do with Celtic. It does have things to do with political people who support Celtic and feel strongly, do it on your time. March, chain yourself to buildings, send money, lobby your MP. Going to a final with a wee flag at a final is a gimmick that does the club no favours.

But they don’t give a Feck about that do.

Magicpole I doubt anyone with a wee flag as u say, thinks they're doing the club any favours. But tell the Palestinian people who have went on record to thank the celtic support for our solidarity that it doesn't help!

Welcome Brendan aged 95, one of our oldest newcomers . Of course you know we are a very broad church of fans, from those who are never happy to those who have lived through bad times and are pinching ourselves daily, not believing how good things are these years .
We are very mindful of the terrible times the Rangers 2012 fans are going through since their birth six years ago, may it last until they die again.

Thanks for your messages guys. Yeah Chris I've followed the page for a while so I know the difference in opinions, I myself though am so grateful that we have a manager Of Brendan's calibre and such a sound business model. I Couldn't believe it when Brendan was appointed, and I cherish every moment with him as our manager, things will get even better (if possible) with the further development of Ntcham, Karamoko, Tierney etc. As for Sevco, They are nothing, They will win nothing, They will do nothing and They will always be nothing, HH!

Hi guys, first post but have read the site for far too long, was time to get involved!

I was just thinking about the transfer window and was wondering if we might go back in for Rivaldo Coetzee if he’d been playing regularly for his new club. Doesn’t take much searching to find an article of his old club “trolling Celtic” after he signed for his new club with no issues despite failing a medical with us. Funny enough, just last month his new coach said how he hadn’t kicked a ball for the club since his arrival and doesn’t expect him to any time soon. Didn’t half dodge a bullet there!

What’s your thoughts on Bitton? Expect to see him move on this summer? I noticed he said he wasn’t interested in a move, if that’s the case I hope he gets a chance when he’s fit but I can’t see it unless it’s to cover defence again. Cheers.

14 May 2018 18:36:10
Hi Andy, new poster here myself! Hope we have a lot of 'banter' together! I remember all the talk about Coetzee, but wasn't very hyped myself regarding his signing, It also got me thinking, would Ajer be in the position he is now, if Coetzee joined? Also, with paddy leaving, Does anyone remember the name of an MLS league winger we were looking at last season? ED? im sure he's at Portland timbers but not sure regarding his contract etc atm, He looked really powerful and fast imo. I know we have Morgan coming in, which will be good, but will he step up in Europe and The Premiership? not to sure myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Welcome aboard, Brendan and Andy. Is it Darlington Nagbe you're thinking of, he signed for Atlanta United a few months back.}

14 May 2018 18:39:48
I would like Bitton to stay, but it is difficult for him and even Brendan if he wants to keep him, there are some loud mouths at matches who think it is there duty to chase away some they don't like, however if the management selects a player I cannot understand why we as supporters don't support and encourage all the players.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 May 2018 19:31:08
That's the one ED, thanks! I think Bitton is a difficult one for me, personally. He's naturally calm on the ball which I like, and we seen flashes of a good defender in him, but then Ajer came in and wow, The boy is so mature for his age and experience, even with the defeat to Aberdeen at the weekend he made some lovely runs, I see the VVD in him. I'll always get behind every one of our players, in Brendan we trust!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2018 20:20:27
Cheers guys. I wasn’t too excited about Coetzee either but I did think we’d go back in for him if he managed to stay clear of injuries. Spot on about Ajer though, what a player, hard to believe he’s only 20.

I like Bitton too, he seems to love it here and it wasn’t long ago he was playing so well we were worried about other teams coming in for him. At the same time our midfield is packed as it is, rumours of Mcginn signing too I can’t see Rodgers playing him unless it’s at the back. Reminds me a bit like when kayal left, good player just been out of favour for a while.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2018 20:33:34
I feel Bitton is a good back up player, not that he's bad or anything, i just feel we have players who are above him now so unless we get very unlucky with injuries again, then i can't see Bitton playing much, if at all, again. I liked Kayal when we had him, I just wonder to Myself how Forster, Hooper, Boruc etc feel after realising that the over-rated EPL isn't really all that! It's quite refreshing to see Dembele come to us rather than being a reserve striker at spurs etc!

Ps, i know a footballer has a very short career, and money does talk nowadays sadly! With the exception (Hopefully) of KT.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 May 2018 22:33:11
No harm to NB but we are moving on and have. I don't know where he sees himself as a player, love for the club aside. His chip in cover for cb will be reduced this summer if we buy and he isn't getting into our midfield with BRs style of play. He will be another Sammy without the cult following. Forced out and it will break his heart.

just my 2nd post aha, and wanted to say the Scotland Squad was announced and There’s NO tierney, mcgregor, Griffiths, Forrest, or Bain. but there is armstrong and Hendry so got me wondering does that mean armstrong is off in the transfer window since he’s 1st team or Mcleash has went mad and dropped the best Scotland players? I’m guessing Brendan doesn’t want our first team risked on friendlies but with Armstrong in the squad it’s got me wondering, thoughts guys?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I thought Hendry's inclusion was a strange one and it's probably because Armstrong hasn't played much football through injury and the game and squad training will aid his recovery.}

14 May 2018 16:00:11
thanks Ed, here’s hoping then I know some people have split feelings about Armstrong, but I personally hope he stays. a honestly love the type off player he is and the batch off our players together in the national team is really great to see aswell when they all play!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd like to see Armstrong stay but I can't see it happening.}

14 May 2018 16:39:25
ElChris, just read some comments from McLeish there. He spoke with BR and seemingly the players who have played more football (KT, Forrest, McGregor etc) have been given a rest for fear of burning out. After all, it is McLeish's job to look after his better players 😉.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2018 18:43:21
Armstrong will stay, if he doesn't get a better deal elsewhere, he had done more up to the summer transfer window last season and couldn't get better than he had on offer here, after a poor season, I don't think he will have many suitors from down south.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 May 2018 23:00:59
SA fit is no brainer cheap option for many an English club this summer. Bad stop start season aside there will be a few managers that will think "£4m why the #not"
The ONLY thing that is in our favour is he has had a crap season and the club's he wants aren't going to bid high and fight. They aren't daft either. They know he is going to be the bargain buy of the season for some team. He knows it as well. Maximum 1year extension if that. Personally if he wants to do that again take 4m and put it back into the team for a fresh group that want to be here. 3yr deal to cover our arse or he has to go this summer.

Brilliant news Kev. Well done the Bhoy and PL for getting this deal done. Hugely important getting our young stars tied down.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 May 2018 13:54:02
He’s not quite as silky and easy on the eye as VVD but if he ends up half as good he’ll be a star! Well done to RD for picking him up and to BR for seeing the potential in him at CB.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I never seen VVD playing when he was younger but I'm confident in saying that Ajer is a better player than the big Dutchman was at 20.}

14 May 2018 14:35:52
On the money Ed. This boy, given what he has shown in his learning curve, could be a real star. Player of the year at Killie remember, and that looks to have stood him in good stead. Also seems a real level headed boy which helps.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - Ajer and Ntcham are both going to be fantastic players who will earn us a shedload of money in years to come and I just hope that they're both here for a good few years yet.}

14 May 2018 15:31:46
Ajer has achieved more than big VVD had by the time he was 20 I'd say.
Captain by 16 or 17 in Norway. Now an international that has European experience. Bhoys going to be a star.

Agree0 Disagree3

14 May 2018 15:41:07
Fair point Ed, I think he was only breaking into the Groningen team at that age so Ajer has got a good few extra years of experience under his belt already.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I never thought we'd have another CB in the VVD bracket as quick as we have, players like that don't come along our way every day.}

14 May 2018 16:42:56
This is good news. Looks like we've improved his deal which the lad deserves. As for the comparison to VVD, I don't think he'll ever be as easy on the eye Kev. But he could be a better defender. I love the way he celebrates things like winning a goal kick instead of conceding a corner. It's that very fight that will see him be a better defender, in it's purest form.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 May 2018 17:40:20
You got a wee semi for VVD Jim? 😂.

14 May 2018 18:47:09
There is no doubt we have improved the deal Ajer was on , I am pretty sure Ajer wasn't on much money when he joined us as a young teenager . It's great that Brendan and Peter identify this and have him signing a new deal before the vultures swept in from the EPL.

We aren't in the habit of signing 29 year olds and giving them a 5 year deal . It's good busines for a 29 yr old getting a 5 yr deal . Of course if a club expects to die within a year or so it makes sense for club too.

So, one last push to achieve, again, history in the Scottish game. Yesterday does not bother me, result wise, as when a league is won players should be rested and youngsters given game time. This has always been my view, last season chasing an unbeaten record ruled that out, but yesterday. Meh.

For me the only discussion is over this issue we seem to have with teams who sit deep. For the life of me i could not understand why Roberts never started. Even if he goes surely he deserved a run out at Celtic Park for what he has given us?

I, like everyone, i assume we are well down the road on transfers and BR will reshape the defence. Looking at our current squad we need work in that area for sure. Strangely this window might be the most important one for years. A lot out and some in, but i would hope a couple of Euro ready players that can make the difference in the qualifiers and further.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 May 2018 10:28:49
The injury problems we have had to Griffiths, Dembele, Roberts, Armstrong and Rogic, plus the difference in Sinclair to last season has certainly impacted on our goals and points total, although to be on the brink of another treble has got to be appreciated as an incredible achievement.
I've said before that opponents have learned how to stifle us - especially at home - and we need to address this and a vast improvement on set pieces is definitely an issue, as we get plenty of free kicks and corners every week and waste most of them.
I agree this summer will be very important in the transfer window with a lot of speculation about players leaving and sorting out the defense and BR has already stated we have to improve and I am sure he has plans; but until then I look forward to next Saturday and hopefully another historical chapter in the Celtic story.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2018 15:06:01
@GJ and OAB, looks like next season will tell us quite a lot about Brendan and his team tactics, but as OAB says, we forget about all the longish term injuries we had this year to our important layers, surely next season our injury list will not be as bad. Also Dembele and Sinclair scored fewer goals this season which we need to rectify, a) if Dembele goes, bring in Odsonne on a permanent deal. b) get Sinclair scoring goals again and c) improve both our defending and get us paying the fast paced one touch football of the invincible season.

I hope Gerrard and the media continue to spout off, it motivates us, they always talk a great game in the close season, then fall flat once they start playing games again.
Next season is all about what CELTIC do. hail hail.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2018 18:59:01
We haven't been stifled that often, we have created enough chances to win any game in every domestic game this season . Luck and careless finishing has caused to let inferior teams build some confidence in their defensive drill.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2018 09:07:50
7IAR complete and the chance to clinch the double treble next weekend - great times!

Looking ahead to next season however it is clear the squad needs revitalised. Our home form this year has been very poor and the main reason we only won the league by 9 points with is not a great margin in my opinion.

First thing's first, we need to tie up Rogic or Armstrong on a contract - don't think we will get both. Then get Eddie signed up on a permanent.

In terms of new faces, my priorities are a commanding CB, a RB as good as Tierney and a winger who can push Sinclair and either take his place or help him recapture the form he showed last year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 May 2018 11:10:26
A rb is such a priority, if we had the same threat going down the right then we will cause teams a lot more issues. I can see us sticking with ajer boyata hendry lustig as our cbs next season, but if we sell jozo we really need a proper cb in. Centre midfield is fine, if armstong goes then mcginn is ideal replacement. Wingers, we need 2, this is where we were so deadly last year with paddy and sinky. If rogic goes he needs replaced. If moussa goes he needs replaced. a lot of work needs done this summer. Players will usually stick around for 2-3 years so this summer's signings will potentially be here for 10. I reckon like ntcham we will get another 5million pound player from man city and maybe a loan signing as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2018 15:23:34
If Armstrong leaves then I think Ryan Cristie will be more than capable of replacing him.
Mcginn has had a good season, but Cristie in my opinion is the better player of the two and should be given a chance in the side rather than sign Mcginn.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 May 2018 21:02:06
Why do u think Cristie would be an adequate replacement for Armstrong . I doubt if McInnes could develop Cristie as well as Brendan would, BR cannot think too highly of Cristie or he wouldn't have sent him back out on loan after his 6 mths last season.

Great to win the league again, albeit in far less style than last year but a title is a title. I think this summer is the time to overhaul this squad for next season, think many have peaked and a couple are on way down. BR has to want more quality in that back 4, a blind man can see it's not fit for a serious tilt at even Europa football. Anyway on to next week and if we match Motherwell physically then our skill will shine through and make us a bit of history.
