As a patriotic Scotsman of Irish decent who supports Celtic FC i think far to much is being made of the great poppy debate , i think 90% of Celtic fans including myself have not got a problem paying tribute to the fallen of both world wars , but people should realise that in Ireland as in many other countries accross the world over the last couple of centuries the British Army has been responsible for many many attrocities and human rights violations , in Ireland these have been mainly perpetrated on the catholics by order of the crown who have evicted tenants , burnt their homes and crops , tortured , raped and murdered innocent men , woman and children and left hundreds of thousands more to poverty , homelessness , illness , starvation and death , from the black and tans (convicted thugs and murderers) many of whom were drafted out of prisons for the purpose to 1 para who murdered 14 innocent unarmed civil rights marchers on bloody sunday , the Irish Celtic supporters clubs and the Green Brigade asked Celtic to adopt the white poppy as jesture of good will and to put an end to the anomosity , but as usual our views do not matter to Rangers fans who for the first 116 years of existance openly operated an illegal sectarian , protestant only signing policy , everyone has the right to choose and their choice respected , it is 2010 after all .

Brydo - stay on this page and off the rangers page. you waste of space. never an ex serviceman. for you morons talking about poppys. give it up. you ARE a british club. fact. you talk about illegal wars in iraq and afghan yet as the great ex squaddie brhdo will tell you (i no he dosent go to parkhead) but you hear pro ira songs getting sung - a terrorist oganisation that waged an illegal war on britain - the country that your chairman represented as defence seceratry - chose to go to war in iraq. your not an irish club. just because you were founded by irish dosent make you irish. i no a guy that drinks guiness. not irish. if ireland that great. shut down your club, bulldoze parkhead n off you go back over the water n out of britain - as bad as the hook handed muslim extreamist you lot are for not supporting the great british army that defend you lot (if you have a maroon passport with a unicorn on it and citizen of the united kingdom of great britain on the front, that's you, even if your born in scotland. your still british, n your national anthem is god save the queen) like it or not. another fact. when i served we had a few losers that you didn't want to go to war with - remember who you pledged to defend bhrydo - queen and country.
may we never forget those who gave their lifes for us (and i include all the former celtic players who died in the war in 1918 defending britain)
the tiger - respecting our troops n buying a poppy

After this post im putting this poppy/war.army etc subject to bed. .

Tiger how can you seriously call anyone a moron?

1.this is a banter page open to all, so what gives you the right to demand brydo stays off?

2.you talk about our chairman who led the "illegal" war in afghan and the poppy protest. i think youl find the poppy protest was aimed at our chairman!.

3.if you want to get political by taking about The IRA waging an "illegal" war on Britain, then look at the politics behind it! ! catholics had 1 vote per household in protestant majority communities so they had NO VOICE POLITICALLY!. they started the civil rights movement and were murdered "illegally" by the british forces. they were interned, beaten, burned out their homes, etc. So can you really blame them for taking up arms and defending themselves?? (p.s i do not condone violence but I can understand why it was used!)

4.why do rangers fans like yourself feel the need to tell people to leave this country just because they have strong feelings for somewhere else?? i love spain and go there once or twice a year, by your logic, should i leave scotland? does that make me any less scottish?

5. if you would take time to listen or read the comments or views of the majority of people before you start running your mouth off you would realise that were not being dis-respectful to the people who fought during the world wars, we are grateful, but the poppy symbolises the brittish army as a whole, lets not forget the damage, suffering, murder, illegal occupacians etc that they have carried out on numerous countries through out the ages!

gerry bhoy

now get back to football

To the tiger
no, we`re no british, we`re no saxon, we`re no english, we`re irish and proud we are to be.
well i am scottish and i think much like the irish there.
so why don`t you sling your hook out of my country down to england and take ibrox with you.
after all the english calling everyone british and then taxing them to death was how the trouble started in the first place.
