Wats your take on Wanyama ed007 🤫.

{Ed007's Note - I'd hate to face him in a wullie measuring competition!!! - and I'm not shy.}

Take it the rumours aren’t true Ed - no Wanyama or Toure tomorrow? Don’t think midfield is priority this window so can’t see anyone coming in never mind one of them!

14 Jan 2019 19:51:08
Midfield isn’t a priority but Wanyama is a beast and would be very welcome!

Out of the new Bhoys I think they will be given Bayo 10 Burke 25 Weah 7?

Weah 7 makes sense.

Hi ED there is a picture going about of a guy in the Celtic dressing room pointing to the crest smiling with the note being a CB from Den Hagg in Holland not sure how reall but they did do something smiliar was Paddy Roberts.

14 Jan 2019 06:52:48
Aye Rich T, where's the picture then? I heard through my grannys milkmans cousins friend who used to drink with a fella who knew another fella who once knew a man who said he knows about these things and he has said it's pish. HH.

Could someone explain the work permits scenario, does it have a real impact in us looking in places like South America for up and coming talent? And if so why is it so much harder in Scotland than places like Portugal is it something the sfa could change or would it take the government in Scotland or Westminster?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The individual governments set the WP rules not the football authorities. It is not an imbalance, just a difference.}

14 Jan 2019 12:47:29
Thank God it's not the football authority as the men from Lanarkshire would say NO.

What happens when you appeal it ed?
Seem to remember murdo Macleod being involved with Jason Scotland getting one knocked back years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's an appeal you can make under the 'exceptional talent/promise' regs but if you know a player won't be granted a work permit you can apply straight away under them to save time, paperwork etc
Under these regs independent parties will explain how the youngster will improve the standard of their area of work (team/league etc) - it was actually Alex McLeish that spoke up for Wanyama as he had tried to sign him for Birmingham I think it was. Basically a case of him saying at his age there wasn't many players in the UK better than Wanyama.}

Hello all it's been a while. Ed and the regulars i hope your all well and thriving. Been watching events from afar and i seem to have entered some alternative reality. Sevco win their first game v us in THIRTEEN attempts, wow what about brother beaton, And the old arrogance comes back. Arfield? You need to worry when you run out a Celtic Park mate as another humping WILL be on the cards.

On us. an absolute shocker no doubt about it. We were so bad i think the bug at Lennoxtown may have some truth, we looked lethargic and weak, but it should not disguise the fact questions need asking. The main one for me is the transfer policy.

I realise we have plenty time yet, but Burke and Weah? Loan signings, this will only work for me if there is a chance of moving for them permanently. The pursuit of a right back also worries me. We have known PC Lustig was on the down turn and never addressed it. Ralston? Always looked like he could do a turn for me so why not give him more game time?

Gordon, if BR insists we play out has to be replaced. He coughs up possession every time he needs to kick long, and that is caused because he is still very poor with the ball at his feet. Bain is a much better proposition and we would keep the ball easier and longer at the back.

The next six games are key. Eighteen points will, i think, blow everyone else out of it. There is no league race. It is all in our own hands, despite the reticence to say so in our media.

Good luck to us all.

{Ed007's Note - Nice to hear from you, GJ 👍

Agree with everything you say mate except the 2 loan signings. BR and the club got their hands burned with Musonda. A 6 month deal ensures that does not happen. If it all works out I think you'll see the term extended at the end of the season.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2019 12:57:53
A 6 month loan for a players like weah and burke is a hell of a better bit of business rather than be stuck with likes of johnny hayes, marvin commper etc.

I don't care if we loan signings we have on books sign permanently, as long as they do well during their time and give us a lift is all that matters.

Buying decent players instead of cheap crap is better .

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2019 14:24:20
It's much more difficult to get class players in the January window; so for me it's all about getting shot of several passengers and 'tourists' helping to save/ raise cash for the quality we need when they are available. If that happens this month all the better.
At present we have added another three (albeit 2 loans) to the largest most expensive squad in our history and we need to off-load. However, if they're not good enough for us - few teams will buy them and they won't want a cut in pay or conditions - and who would?
Maybe a partial solution could be to loan a few to our SPL rivals?

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jan 2019 23:09:17
Bigbubs, that’s exactly what sprang to my mind when the loans were announced. Mussonda’s definitely got talent but I believe his attitude was the problem as is Mulumbu’s as well. That might explain why we’d try 6 months and take it from there. DRB, I’d love permanent signings but Burke’s last transfer was £15M. Teams in the pub league can afford to do that but we can’t.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2019 22:45:31
fgjmarktwo. You answered some of your queries yourself . We must start the second part of season wining all matches . Buying in quality players takes time, ltaking on loan got us two fresh pairs of legs quickly and should hit ground running .
It is exceptionally difficult for Gordon to go long with clearance and Celtic with just one front player good in the air We don't have the players to fight for lengthy clearances up to now.

13 Jan 2019 09:34:08
Ed, what's worse for you, the summer window or the January one?
Do you notice more of a panic during either?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The summer one is worse simply because it goes on longer lol The panic levels are sky high from the minute the window opens until it closes, I think some fans expect Peter Lawwell to be sitting with a couple of players waiting for Jackie Bird to announce the bells so he can sign them.}

Hi Ed; noticed your comments after my post down the page about how these windaes do yer melt in wading through loads of pointless posts and second-hand speculation and I will say a wee prayer to St Monica for you; ha ha. (Patron Saint of Patience) - save googling her lol.
It's like a a huge game of Premiership Manager or Fantasy Football when these January Sales are on. All the best mate.

{Ed007's Note - Even the most sensible poster can lose their mind during the transfer window, it's mental. Honestly I don't watch Sly News or scour the internet for info, half the made up stuff I first hear about from guys posting it in here.
Prayers are always welcome and needed OAB, God bless 🙏 and may St Rita (Patroness of Impossible Causes) guide us all through these troubling times.}

14 Jan 2019 06:57:01
Ed, I go to Mass myself and say prayers every day, but every once in a while when I ask for unrealistic help I swear I can see the big man out of the corner of my eye standing there shaking his head and telling me to quit while I'm ahead. lol HH.

So some rumour page is suggesting BR should demand 8million for JF you have to laugh at that really hahahahaha hahahahaha

When you think of other Scottish wingers that have went for 15million ie, Burke and Snodgrass to name a couple, either of the 2 not a patch on an on form JF

I know it's only a rumour but surely if anyone was interested in our flying winger the bidding would have to start at 15million, thoughts?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2019 11:29:09
If an English club was looking at him then maybe but that's the over inflated prices down there that would cause that not Forrest's actual ability. We all know pricing is a joke in England. If a foreign club was to make a bid then 8 would feel right for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2019 11:30:01
For me it's £20m or nothing at all, there's times in JF career where you would of probably took £5m, but with the current market being as inflated as it is, and JF in his prime I would demand £20m from Liverpool, however I don't see any truth in this what so ever. Mind you why take the £20m? If we were offered it any way the money wouldn't be pumped back into good player acquisitions, would be a promising player plus some loans costing us about £4m in total and the remainder would be split between the board.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jan 2019 12:18:28
I agree I wouldn't want to sell him either, but for 20million that would perhaps enable us not to sell any of our other assets for a couple of seasons at least.

Ok I'm not sure the rumour is true either, but the form he has been showing there must be cash rich clubs at least scouting him.

Personally i think its a lot of nonsense. Was only last week The Hun published lies about Leigh Griffiths. The media are trying their hardest to unsettle club.

Liverpool? 😂 They might need to up their bid as City and Real are sniffing around too. 😂. Best one yet.
