I realise all Celtic fans will be revelling in today's news but please take a moment to remember what this great club Glasgow Rangers have given to not just Scottish football but to the wider European game also. Their brilliant attacking displays in europe and the wonderful friendly Rangers fans at home and in europe, making friends with everybody.
So I wish Mr Whyte, Rangers FC and those wonderful Rangers fans all the best in these dark times for them. PINOCCHIO (aka Timalloy)

It has been revealed tonight that Craig Whyte still owes David Murray the £1 to take over Rangers.
A spokesman for Mr Whyte said "we are working on a payment plan to repay this debt"

What a great start to the week bhoys n ghirls. I have absolutely no shame in revelling in the demise of the apparently 'great' club across the city. They deserve everything that's coming there way and wont be getting any sympathy from me.....even now after today's events half the ostriches still haven't raised their heads and are still that arrogant/deluded that they really believe that Celtic need them or no rangers = no SPL etc etc.

I'll be doin the huddle when rangers die...will you?

Ed / Celts
If Rangers folded or had to off-load so many players as to fall way behind Celtic and were relegated, where would that leave the Sky / ESPN tv deal ?
I understood that the 4 x Old Firm matches per season were a central requirement of the £80m tele rights ?
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - I've explained elsewhere KB, that is nonsense, Ed001 and Ed002 say the same. Could Sly Spurts tell the EPL they want a Man Utd vs LFC title decider every last day of the season? No, it would amount to match rigging. The SPL splits into two as well, what if either CFC or Rangers didn't make the top half, unlikely but under the set up it could happen, that is why there can be no such stipulation. I have been told that one of the stipulations was that Rangers could meet their matchday obligations and remain solvent, it is about as believable.}

Alright lads you all seem to be having a great time.lol. First time Ive posted on your site me being a mad LFC fan I know what its like being close to Admin and by the sounds of it so do a lot of you. I understand if they were the same to you when you were in trouble but I cant see how it will have a good effect for you, I may be wrong but Im sure the only game that gets big viewing figures is you vs them. Weather that makes any difference to you financially I dont know but it may have a big effect. Any way respect to all of you, you are a great set of fans and I enjoyed myself when I came to your groud and will always have massive respect to you for the game in 88.

Smithy you would have to put yourself in our shoes,can you imagine if this was Man Utd in this situation,for years we have taking stick about how much money they have,even their owner came out and said for every £5 we spent they would spend £10,but to answer your question smithy i think Celtic will thrive without a strong Rangers team,the money from tv rights isnt that much anyway and there are other avenues to make back that lost revenue,so i think we will be financially secure.Good to see other fans in the UK have respect for our support as well.ps all the best for the rest of the season smithy.MACCA

Banter page.

So folks does anyone think/know (if) these revelations are a result of Rangers finding out they've lost the tax case? Or is this simply an insurance policy as they've found out it could be a bill as much as 75M?

Why else would they go into administration now? Why not go into administration next month and avoid the immediate penalty giving them a chance of the league and hoping for the best next season? Seems rushed, although the Cousin signing is consistent with getting it done before it's too late.

P.S. May seem a stupid question but my financial/business knowledge is dire besides maths and using a cash machine.

ED007, on Radio and online heard a few things about Whyte doing a deal with HMRC and trying to get a
CVA in operation. From what I understand of a CVA
ALL creditors must agree compensation package. Do you think HMRC would settle for say 10p in the pound compensation?
If creditors do NOT agree, does that mean Rangers will be unable to come out of administration as quickly as some people think?
How do you think SFA/SPL will handle this? Timalloy {Ed007's Note - I doubt HMRC would settle for that, they could have got more negotiating with Murray and refused. As for the SPL/SFA that is anyone's guess, we all know what they can be like.}

ed,know im a mae west,but,with that mob going into admin through alltheir underhand payments,as well as the sfa imposing sanctions,should uefa not also conduct an enquiry into the forces of evil,cause at the end of the day,they have cheated scottish football and its supporters,and all its member teams,but they have also cheated many european teams,and their supporters.they should be stripped of several titles if they dont go out of business,and banned from europe for a very long time.they have brought shame on scottish football.total shame.artybhoy {Ed007's Note - UEFA could get involved over any transfer money owed etc and over Rangers Euro licence while owing a tax authority as of 31st December (even the wee tax case), Murray and Whyte accepted responsibility for that debt. Although the accounts need to be entered in March, they only have to cover until 31st December the previous year.}

On rangers page they still seem to believe they are going into administration to give themselves a negotiating chance with hmrc. I honestly believe they are going into administration outwith the tax case. Craig Whyte when asked about the ticketus money said they had basicly spent it on filling a 3.5 million a month deficit in there books, with the remainder being used to pay of the outstanding amount on jellyfish(1 million) and some other bills they had failed to pay. It would appear rangers monthly income is less than there monthly outgoings, with no-one willing to give them credit they are hitting a brick wall in terms of daily running costs. Its not inconceivable that had craig whyte had a plan it may have involved champions league, uefa cup money to get them to the end of season. This plan has failed and they are entering administration earlier than they/he expected. I dont say any of this is a fact, just an opinion based on statements that have supposedly come from craig whyte.

be very careful of what we wish for fellow Celtic Fans yes we could survive without the Rankers but if previous experience is anything to go by the standard of of football will be greatly reduced at parkhead. our board have always just spent enough on transfers to try and compete with the rankers and sometimes not enough as the previous 3 seasons show. can you imagine if you took rankers out the picture we would be able to compete against the rest of the dross with our boys and without the rankers cash teams like Killie/hibbs/st mirren etc would struggle they would have to curtail their spending which means we would spend less the quality of football would be so poor that playing kanus in a European qualifier would be our highlight yes we could survive without them but at what cost to the standard of football {Ed007's Note - Other teams would have more of a share of any TV deal etc and a chance of European football. Why is nobody up in arms trying to save Hearts (Gretna, Motherwell, Third Lanark etc etc). There was no clamour to help CFC years ago either, the gloating from Rangers and the press then opened my eyes, I was there mate, nobody gave a f**k about us. Break the rules and take the punishment, bigger teams than Rangers have had to deal with it (Juventus??). Why should we all be shouting that Scottish football needs Rangers? Their problems are their own doing, they need to face the consequences, simple as that.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

If rangers cant play in europe then other teams will get a shot at that money, imagine this year if motherwell get the champions league place and not rangers, surely they would make enough money out of a qualifier to cancel out gate receipts for games vs rangers. Also if rangers become crap surely other teams will benefit with cup runs etc. Bottom line is i dont see rangers disapearing completely, they have to many fans for that but they may have to suffer a few years in the wilderness.

ed how our board would react we hardly spend when we need too as for other teams getting more tv money thats great if you get a decent tv deal and with out rangers it would not be such a good tv deal

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed what tv deal as sky have it in place 4 old firm games or they can pull out so take ur heaad out the sand we need rangers as much as they need us some people are idiots 007 included in that {Ed007's Note - I'm an idiot? LMAO you are accusing SLy of rigging the league, any deal that stipulates a certain amount of matches in a league that splits would be illegal andwould have serious repercussions for the SPL as a whole and for Sly. Have you seen this contract or just read about it in the same papers that said Craig Whyte was a billionaire with wealth off the radar? I think you should maybe read up the rules regarding such matter (or get someone sensible to read it to you). Is the truth really hurting that much? Aw diddums.}

{Ed007's Note - There will be no negotiating. David Murray tried and was told no chance.}

surely HMRC will look to make some some sort of deal as according to SSN Rangers would have to pay the major creditor first (or what ever you call it ) being whyte he would pay himself then hmrc would get hee haw as i stated whyte may be a crook but a very clever crook he may turn out to be. also ed is it true that if the players are released they can still play for rangers while under administration if they want as rangers would still hold their registration then they could sign new contracts when rangers come out of Admin {Ed007's Note - TBH mate I am not sure how it works with players doing that, if I answered you it wouldn't be reliable, sorry.}

Hey ed how you doing? Long time no see. Fair play to Celtic given the league is now over. After a poor start you have certainly pulled it together and played some good football. I'd expect us to be out of administration within a few weeks to be honest and lets hope next season is all about the football.

GovanFR {Ed007's Note - Cheers GovanFR, I am doing good, due another couple of ops on my leg next month. I have said all along I wouldn't gloat, I only told the truth. Too many Rangers fans wouldn't face it. Rangers will be back at some point but I think it could take time. A lot of trust will have been lost in Whyte in general. I know from '94 how it feels mate, I just hope the Rangers fans can keep any demos peaceful, although obviously tensions are running high. But Whyte hasn't lied to the fans, he actually hasn't said anything which would worry me. Chin up, take care.}

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Cheers ed hope you get the problems with your leg sorted. I agree it may be a long process but I don't see Whyte owning Rangers for long once we exit administration. I for one won't be demonstrating, I don't think Whyte has done anything wrong but I agree I hope any demos stay peaceful.

GovanFR {Ed007's Note - Thanks mate.}

I think he has Ed. He said in an interview in Scotland on Sunday that in October 2010 he had £33m of his own personal wealth deposited in a bank account to take over Rangers. I appreciate that my allegation cannot at this stage be substantiated, but I have no doubt that it will be in the fullness of time. {Ed007's Note - Did he say it though? Not saying you are wrong but look at the warchest story etc. Look at this, how many lies are in here:

Over the weekend talking with some friends and I made this point. If they go bust, and we go on to win the treble, their apologists in the press will say it's only because Rangers were weakened.
I think Whyte has given up on title this season and is prepared to take "hit" of 10 point deduction, hoping to come back stronger next season. Hope further penalties will accrue, but sadly think SFA, SPL and MSM will now gather their forces to defend the dark ones. Thought you Ed's were impartial if that's the case the ones on the Rangers page need some assistance. {Ed007's Note - Impartial? I am an editor on a CFC site, why would I be impartial? Is that difficult for you to understand. So Rangers have helped CFC out by spending money they shouldn't have, good logic there mate. Is glue sniffing back in fashion these days?}

Agree0 Disagree1

Glue sniffing are you for real, that shows me you really are not suited for a site to edit. The nonsense that gets posted on the Rangers banter pages has been a disgrace you make a point in here and you are all over it, but to finish it with that stupid statement is just so childish. {Ed007's Note - LMAO have I upset you even more? You come on with a ridiculous statement and expect to be taken seriously, dry your eyes and have a wee plate of jelly and ice cream.}

Agree0 Disagree1

HaHa L.M.A.O. Winning something properly? Is overspending and buying titles for years the proper way to do it? You should be stripped of your frauduently won titles .....Stevie

Agree2 Disagree0

Doubt it will happen but by god i hope so .when Marseille got found out they cheated French fedaration stripped them of the title and offered it to PSG as they were the previous season 2nd place team.if the SFA do the same right now we would be on 10 in a row and going for 11 this season . as i said i doubt the SFA will have the guts to do what the French Federation did.

Lubo25 {Ed007's Note - The Italian FA didn't mess about with Juventus either, Lubo.}

Happen Hearts will get their place back in the SPL when they go bust , same as Rangers ! aye right , does the Bishop wear a funny hat ?

Tell me Celtic fans,

Why the hell do you want a rangers meltdown exactly? Without each other we are zero..

The atlantic league did not happen,the Epl do not want the baggage so we are in the spl in the current format...But if Rangers die so DO celtic,any right minded fan MUST think alike?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

If rangers die there wont be any baggage

Dessybhoy

Agree5 Disagree1

To be realistic I don't think Rangers will die; however they are paying the price for their own mis-management - and some would say arrogance - and they must face the consequences of administration and the subsequent penalties. Celtic were very close to meltdown in 96/97 and there was no outcry of sympathy or support from the Scottish Media or indeed Rangers as to needing each other then?
The Save Our Celts campaign and Brian Dempsey stood alone to oust the Board at that time and find a backer/investor and Rangers will no doubt have similar efforts by their own sympathisers and groups to rescue them as well.
This is all their own fault and we do not HAVE to take pleasure in it; but we certainly don't have to feel guilty or sorry.

just want to say i am a Rangers man and i want to see my team win and your team lose through rivalry not through hate or any nonsense outwith football. also both ed001 and your good self must have to put with some idiot posts and you both handle them in correct way and point out that it is banter pages. some people really do have to look up the meaning of banter. i take it as banter and have to say i did have a wee laugh at the admin lottery post.don't tell Mr Whyte he might just sell tickets for it .

Billy McNeill was a guest of Craig Whyte at Ibrox last weekend. After the game Billy met Ally McCoist in the hospitality lounge. Ally asked him, "Billy, how do you think our current Rangers team would fare against the famous Lisbon Lions side of '67?" Billy thought for a moment before replying, "I think it would be a draw." Ally walked away feeling quite positive before Billy shouted after him, "You have to remember Ally....we haven't trained for over 40 years!"

Good Morning ED007, just seen the interim figures a little disappointing, but a message to Mr Whyte this is what HONEST clubs do, publish accounts whether poor or not, Celtic have nothing to hide and our great club is in sound financial health.
See some of the bhoys are having an "HMRC" lottery would it not be GREAT if the findings came out on St Patricks Day, but I think it will be nearer April so I plump for 29 March. hail hail Timalloy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As you say Tim...the positive thing about them, is they have been published ! Certainly not all doom & gloom thats for sure :-)

Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

Whats not positive about them, we still made a profit(did not have a big player sale to boost that ala McGeady) We knocked 2 million off the bank debt ,kept our best players and brought in some more. Top of the league in all compatitions . I for one think thats a pretty impressive set of figures

Every Celtic Goal vs Rangers 1997-2011
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnphuMb1IrM

Looking at the youtube clip above, got me thinking, if I had to pick a celtic great team from 1997 to 2011

Anyway mine is:-

Boruc,
Izzy,
Valgharen
Stubbs,
Boyd,
Di Canio,
Lambert,
Lennon,
Lubo,
Sutton
Henrick.

Kills me to leave out Thommo, Cadete, Hartson, Balde, etc.

In fairness, playing football the Celtic way is hard to beat.

Bad Bhoy.

Great find with the video:)

instead of Izzy and Valgaeren, i'd have Mjallby and Mckinley, the rest you can't really argue with

I will never be a big fan of Samaras as I feel over his full period at The Celts he has been too inconsistant and certainly does not score enough goals.
However his over all team play RECENTLY has been good and he is winning a fair share of headers and flicks etc. But I think Stokes must be a wee bit sick of losing his place in the team lately.
His goals - especially at Kilmarnock, Hibs and Hamden in the Semi-Final - have put us in the strong position we are in today and he shares the load and links up well with Hooper.
Personally I know who I would prefer, but I suppose the competition for striking places will keep them on their toes for the run-in. What do you think?

Jungle Jim

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate it's 2 from 3 right now, stokes and sammy would work just as well but with such a big squad the hardest job for lenny is keeping everyone happy, but for me sammy does an awful lot of work on and off the ball , puts me a wee bit in mind of yogi tremendous or s**te

Agree1 Disagree0

Sammy has been like a new signing for us this year....a bit of an enigma, yes, but his work off the ball is why Lenny favours him over Stokes right now. it's not about the goals, as lennon knows we have goals all through the team, and if we're struggling, we can always bring on Stokes

hi guys, just had a thought, remember back to when the rankers went on their wrecking spree in manchester . because celtic did'nt qualify for europe that season watty was in the papers every day from march onwards , saying how unfair it was that they had so many more games to play than us , he wanted fixtures rearanged the season extended etc etc . well i'm not sure but i think the last time they played a midweek game i watched it in a spanish pub on my summer holidays , i reckon by the time this season ends we will have played around 14 games more than them . should we ask for an extension , or just get on with it and keep the winning run going . ynwa

Can anyone remind me who win at the weekend between celtic and inverness as reading the stats from Keith Jackson celtic scored 71 points between our team and inverness scored 73 . Yet inverness didn't have a proper chance on goal .
He gave Neil lennon a 5 saying he couldn't get his tactics right and gave butcher a 6 lol .
