Now this is quality. As some of you will know there has been a concentrated and protracted campaign by some sad deluded sevco fans against Celtic. This concerned an alleged 'state aid' issue surrounding the sale of land at Lennoxtown and the surrounds of Celtic Park.

This nonsense was backed, and in some cases encouraged, by prominent sevco bloggers, posters on their sites and even a Unionist MP in Belfast. Driven by a fear of Celtic vanishing over the football horizon while they were enjoying their journey through the lower reaches of Scottish football, this had reached fever pitch among the gullible and desperate 'peepul'.

Their 'Modus Operandi' was to bombard the appropriate European department with e-mails until this 'massive fraud' had been exposed.Well some kind of congratulations are in order for the ring leaders. They have in fact succeeded in bringing about change. The EU have tightened up the complaint procedure to stop people with no genuine concerns clogging up the system with ridiculous nonsense with no basis in fact.

If this ludicrous MP, and the usual blogging suspects, had expended the same amount of energy when Agent Whyte took over they might have saved their club from dying.Same story with Chuckie Green.I now fully expect an army of angry bears marching to Brussells.Obviously given their previous it will be at the weekend when no one is there. Sneakys salary, the accounts, the Ramsdens cup and now this.Truly they are the gift that keeps on giving!

{Ed007's Note - SSssshhh GJ, we don't want them finding out that there's oil and diamonds under the land.}

ED007 I thought everybody knew my business partner and I have obtained the mineral rights to this claim, the negatives we had of Peter worked a treat yours in Celtic.

@GJ in all seriousness where did you read this?
Does that mean the complaint against Celtic (which we all knew was spurious anyway) has been thrown out.
The media made a big thing of this, let us see if the print this, although not holding my breath.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Timalloy: It was in the TSFM site mate, a great read and NEARLY as good as this.Plenty of clued up posters on a whole range of subjects.

Well St Johnstone - Dundee United final.
Looks like top tiers of Celtic Park will be closed again as I cannot see more than 30,000 tops at final.
Shame on St Johnstone fans today, how often do they get to semi finals yet only about 20 men, 2 woman and dog supporting them, they do not deserve a cup final ticket.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just wait for the we need 20k tickets bleating.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to ESPN, Dundee Utd's average attendance last season was 7, 607 + St Johnstone's was 3, 675 - Dundee Utd's highest attendance this season was 12, 601 + St J's was 8, 594 - even if you treble last season's figures or double this season's highest attendances, Celtic Park would only be half full.

When Celtic signed Balde I thought it was a good move as we needed a plan B striker, a front to back target if you like. Looking at the performance, not just the goals, of May today I have to say we missed a trick here.

Considering the boy dropped down divisions, and still scored goals, it seems we might have spent a lot of money when a cheaper option was on our doorstep.Very impressive today, never stopped working and two excellent finishes, it will be interesting to see if there are any bids at the season end.

@GJ yes I thought he would do a turn for us also but sadly because he plays in Scotland nothing done.
I can actually see Sevco making a bid for him (on the never never of course)
But going back to Balde I think we all have to get behind him and hope he comes good next season

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember you posting that mate.Good spot.

For Balde to come good the first thing we need to do is put him out on the park

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get me wrong I like him but is he any better than Stokes/Griffiths? I think not. Same goes for Armstrong another I like but he not better than Johanson/Brown/Biton etc.Only player I would like in Scotland is A.Robertson justs gets better every time I seehim maybe not Izzy yet but great cover and only a matter of time before he is better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Players like Balde sometimes find themselves out of their depths in the combative SPL . It's not just that for most of every game Celtic strikers are up against a resolute back four aided by another line of four deep lying mid fielders but also by partial and bigoted referees that would refuse to give a young striker or any other Celtic player in protection . I think Lennon would have expected Balde to have speeded up his ball control and move the ball quicker before now so that he wouldn't be a standing target .

Agree0 Disagree0

@Chris02; Good points.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paranoia Chris and jhedi, balde isn't playing due to his own shortcomings nothing to do with referees or opposition tactics.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know it couldn't be the obvious. Lennon knows by playing Balde the team would win easier, score more goals and Balde would now be worth £15/20m and surely that couldn't be good for Celtic . So. Lennon just gives him a few minutes at the end of the game instead of letting him win the games easier.

Agree0 Disagree0

@jim1972: Paranoia? I was referring to the point of playing against two banks of four with a deep sitting midfielder, not the refereeing aspect. Not a lot of room for a big guy, and to be fair his first touch is only slightly better than when he came, to play in.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Rayman I can't possibly say I've seen enough of Balde to decide if he's better than Stokes + Griffiths or not. You can't judge a player who's only played 347 mins over 22 appearances, an average of 15 mins per game! What about Fridjonsson as well? Came in to train before he was registered to play, Lennon said he was a ready for first team action?!

Was out with a couple of my ex bear pals last night, they were going on about how good their team played and Dundee United were "lucky" having not seen game I could not contradict them, however watched the highlights on television and saw all the tackles they got away with, the Moshni barge a clear penalty, Black as usual kicking everything that moved and getting away with it, how many times also did he scream in ref Madden's face with no action taken.
Saw also what GJ said about pitch it sure did look as if it was brought in about a metre each side, also heard they did not water the pitch, 2 things a "home" team would do but this was a supposed NEUTRAL venue, SFA I await your answers.
What also annoyed me was tv commentators going on about "amazing atmosphere" yet all I heard was the usual ex bear battle hymns.
But loved the United fans with their
"Your'e not Rangers anymore"
Funny, non offensive and correct.
COME ON YOU BHOYS IN TANGERINE

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought the highlights were skewed towards a 'plucky sevco display' mate. foster went through a Utd player early and never had a sniff of a card and they never even questioned the penalty decision.

Agree0 Disagree0

I watched the whole game to see what they were like. Admittedly they had effort and endeavour and tried hard. But isn't that a minimum requirement for any pro team. The quality was shocking, Dundee Utd ithought were very poor against a poor team. Msm sayin that they played well though lol you have to laff. They missed 2 great chances and defended awfully at all the goals. Now correct me if I am wrong but isn't scoring and defending properly the 2 most important aspects of football, I don't see how you can do both very badly AND play well.

Agree0 Disagree0

@rayman: Wrong mate.The two most important aspects for the peepul are;
1# The Tims are kept in their place and
2# The Tims are kept in their place some more.

Agree0 Disagree0

The people from Govan haven't changed their football style over the years. Very basic, no risk football with little style and panache, fully supported by the MSM and the referees .

Agree0 Disagree0

@Gj soz I bow to your knowledge lol.

Just a thought here, no Old firm games for 3 years and that's based on them actually winning the championship, can we now consider 2 leagues of 20 with the pyramid system.

Surely after a few years, a lot of the teams will improve further and the league may just become bearable

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No old firm game EVER again mate our old firm rivals died, remember?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for clarifying it, given half a chance some Celtic fans would be spouting the one club theory .

Was having a wee read on sly sports about loan players hoping to make an impact at Celtic. In my mind, none of them have really been consistent enough. They have all mostly been sent to 3rd or 4th tier football clubs in England where they have been criticised and not set the league on fire. McGregor seems to have done the best but even he has lost his way in the second half of the season. I honestly think they all can leave with a few of the first team following them.

Not looking forward to next season as like most I expect Van Dijk and Forster to move on to bigger and better things. The replacements as we all expect will be not good enough and it will most likely provide us with more short lived cup runs.

Hate to be all doom and gloom but we have taken a few steps back this season in the grand scheme of things and I simply do not see any positive progress being made.

Here is hoping I am proved wrong

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are doom and gloom mate, along with you thinking that the 'old firm;game can be revived I think you might need a lie down.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot remember any young player since Liam Miller going out on loan and coming back to make it big with us. I fully expect this lot that is out on loan to also leave without achieving anything worthwhile with us .

Agree0 Disagree0

Then just send them out on loan again. It will aid their development even more and it may help them improve their consistency. To be fair, if they can do it in League Two they can do it for Celtic in the SPFL.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is plain stupid, typical of the type of nonsense you read in the English media. The standard required by Celtic is far higher than what you would get from loaned out players to English Championship 2 or whatever it is called. Players are no use to us unless they can compete at European Level. Loaning out players is merely a stepping stone for getting the players fixed up at new clubs . McGeoch , watts etc will never be Celtic players again

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not stupid at all Chris, and I never mentioned Europe. If Michael Higdon can be named player of the season then the league can't be that far off the lower English leagues. I'd bet you my house and my dog that if Celtic played one or two of Mcgregor, Watt, Mcgeough or Rogic as often as they could we'd still win the league. That's how you bring players through. We're currently paying too many who can't make an impact in Europe, and who we don't even need to win the league.

Given thar Forster is certain to leave, I appreciate that this is an obvious statement but let's go and get Marshall back. To my mind he never left b choic but was forced to go, can't be too many shot stoppers in he uk!

Well done Jackie, just go on nd win it now!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

After this season I would think he would get better offers, financially anyway, and stay in England. He has developed into a very good keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you be sure Forster is going to leave .

Agree0 Disagree0

If Forster goes I would like to see us sign Michel Vorm from Swansea.Marshall is meant to be interesting Spurs and Arsenal so i've heard so I think we could rule him out.
