What is the big thing about Gascoigne and the hall of fame?
He played 3 seasons at rangers THREE!
He got 11 yellow cards and 2 red cards.
Hi is also a member of the ENGLISH Hall of Fame
He was a pretty good footballer regardless of playing for that lot. But never broke any goalscoring records etc.
so what did he actually do to Scottish Football which justifies his acceptance in the first place?

There is much more deserving players of rangers and every other team in Scotland that should be in it first.
But the way they have went about it and the excuse they have used to pull the nomination is pretty poor to be honest.

No problem at all with official recognition of gascoigne. He was a pain in the arse and an exceptional talent.

Cava the Scottish hall of fame should be for people that have done great things in Scottish football or for Scottish football.
Gazza done neither.
His whole career was just a major waste of talent.

His name could have rolled off the tongue in lists like
Pele
maradona
Zidane
Ronaldo (Brazilian)
Messi
Ronaldo as some of the best players that ever lived but it doesn't.
He should now be held up to weans as an example of what NOT to do with your god given talent.
He's probably the most skilled player that done feck all with his career that ever lived.

Gascoigne ( despite his off field issues) was one of the finest players to ever play in this country and should be inducted in to hall of fame for that reason.

I don't have many rangers mates, but I reckon they must look at gaza something like we look at Lubo? I'm not a fan of 'Hall (s) of Fame' per se, but if there is to be such a thing then I've no objection to his inclusion. If I were to pick a ranger of that generation my first thought would be M. Walters right enough.

I've disliked him since the fa cup semi when he tried twice to do a Notts Forrest player . then laughed my arse off when he done himself in said game and got stretchered off greeting like a bitch . joining them cemented that dislike . I don't think he should get in because of this but he should get in if he deserved / merited it . which we didn't. it's his name rather than contribution that's getting him in.

His talent does merit him getting in but his behaviour on and off the field should exclude him. The hall of fame is a reference point for parents to show their children the great people that have graced the game and perhaps inspire some of them to putting effort into developing themselves as players. It should also serve to teach them to respect their opponents achievements whilst enjoying those of their own team. Gascogne is not a role model and we shouldn’t be teaching younger generations that it’s ok to behave the way he does because he happens to have been a good footballer. However, the handling of the whole episode has been appalling and I can imagine that this could have a profound negative effect on Gascogne who clearly has mental health issues.

He won 4 trophies and was part of a team that blew 10 in a row.
He had several high profile incidents including a 5 match bad for violent conduct and stoked religious tentions with his stupid flute celebration.
He done nothing of serious note on the field in Scotland.

Guys like Barry Ferguson, neale copper and roy aitken have all acheived so much more.
Putting Gazza in was a publicity stunt and nothing more.

He doesn't deserve to be in it.

Personally,
I feel he has had his recognition by being inducted in the English Hall of Fame.
Once again though, our illustrious leaders have shown their incompetence.
They announced publicly that the 2 semi-finals would be played at Hampden on the same day.
THEN, they discussed it and had to changed that.
Now, they have announced Gazza's nomination publicly and had to backtrack on that one as well.
They are totally and utterly useless as the custodians of Scottish Football.
A for Gazza, great talent but not really deserving of the nomination imo.

13 Oct 2018 12:48:24
Being talented isn't a good enough reason to get into the hall of fame.

You have to achieve someone in my opinion. Gazza has never had ANY great achievements in football.

Halls of Fame are a load of pysh in my book. I have no issue for an honour of some description to a player who has made a major positive contribution to the game. Having a Hall of Fame for every flippin country just dilutes any accolade a player receives.
UK Hall of Fame? World Hall of Fame? Maybe, just maybe, but all this localised stuff is crap. Next thing we'll be getting a Hall of Fame for your local postcode. HH.

Is it the Hall of Fame or Hall of Infamy?

When someone is nominated for an honour, usually a very distinguished and educated panel of experts reviews the nomination against a checklist of criteria. This normally includes their positive contributions as well as anything negative in their public and private life.

There is always a Devil’s Advocate to raise the reasons why the honour should not be bestowed.

Any one of about seven reasons stops this particular individual being honoured I’m afraid. But all of them together rules him out absolutely and indefinitely.

What surprises me is that someone at TRFC decided to sponsor his nomination and put him forward. Their judgement is severely flawed and they have done him a disservice and are the root of this problem, not the Hall of Fame Administrators.

Who in their right mind thought this could possibly pass muster?

Gazza should never even be considered for our hall of fame. Most of the time he was playing in Scotland he was a fat person. I also remember his running style of high arms and elbowing people in the face on a regular basis. Yes he did produce the odd bit of magic but often the game passed him by because he was so unfit.

Laudrup would be far more deserving of being inducted if he isn't already.

Too early for a Santa letter? Is there anyone else who can get all Celtic players to ditch the Scotland team? Roll on next week, this daft tournament breaks up all momentum for league and Euro games. Not a fan.

I think there are a lot of us that feel the same. and I know it's selfish on my part as I dislike International football.
However, I appreciate a players ambition/ right to represent their country - but when it comes to the SFA, I think we (Celtic) have a long and very controversial history and we owe them nothing at all.

I respect players rights and ambitions to play for their country.
However, just ask Liverpool how they feel about losing Salah after that Egypt friendly.
Will that put a major dent in Liverpool's run in the league?
What if KT etc. get injured in tomorrow's friendly?

Is you don’t talk about sevco liquidation.

The 21st Century, the age of 5.5 million Scots dumbing down and pretending Sevco is RFC. Ditto 66.9m UK citizens, 742m Europeans and 6.5 billion world citizens.

Blatant lies being held up by authorities as the God’s honest truth. It’s a wrongful and dangerous place to go.

Can people lie in court now? To police? Is that all ok now?

TRFC is a lie, daily.

Grey Heid, it’s nowhere near 5.5M Scots pretending Rangers aren’t deid. I seriously doubt there’s any Celtic fans that believe the continuity myth. Similarly, the sheep won’t buy into either nor the Arabs nor the Hibees. In fact I doubt there’s a single club other than Sevco who believe it. I’d put the number of Scots at two or three hundred thousand tops, who buy into that Shoite. The rest see it for the lie that it is.

Big coconut heid getting his comeuppance with his tactics for last nights game and team selection, he walked out before on the national team tactically inept, perhaps the you tube clip at a supporters ( if u can call that lot that) talking about the so called helicopter Sunday, still pain me to mention that but the clip shows heid the baw in a truer light, were getting it in the neck from all sides at the moment including some who should know better, can’t wait until next Saturday in paradise playing the Celtic way onwards and upwards hail hail ynwa.

If it wasn't for EBT's there wouldn't have been "helicopter Sunday". The old club, it's manager and it's players celebrated a title they knew they won by cheating, how affronting is that😂😂😂.

KT is man enough to come out and say blame me and I will take the abuse that will come my way. That should be coming out of the managers mouth! He has player's playing different positions all over the park. Forrest made Fifa team of the week but doesn't merit a start. Our best forward is not even in the squad due to Mcleish's pathetic attempt of man management.

If folk think it was bad under GS well it's about to get worse. He has been a failure at every club apart from his EBT years at Rfc. He even admitted if it wasn't for Ebt's they couldn't have afforded the players and wages to compete with celtic.

I had to google him to see what you are talking about and the first thing I notice it's the DR that ran the story and that was enough.
There is no chance that comic would ever print anything positive about our club - no matter who they claim contributes opinions.
It's a shame Wallace took the bait (if indeed he did make those comments) but it's yet more proof of the fear and hysteria these 'people' are suffering since God smote their club in 2012.
If all decent, fair minded, intelligent folk stopped buying or subscribing to this rag, then maybe they would liquidate as well?

Kicking Brendan out the door is a stupid comment.

The rest I agree with. Why loan a player for 2 season's if he's unavailable for 6 months. Why are we developing other teams players.

Our transfer activity is disgraceful. Seriously question the transfer policy.

I could be wrong but it sounds to me like he’s skint and that’s why he’s here doing this tour. The Record possibly offered him a few bob to give the interview on the basis that he slagged Celtic off and he took the money and the opportunity to get some exposure for his tour. Maybe ticket sales are a bit slow? As for Arzani, he’s only scored five goals in his entire career, Forrest scored one less in a single game last Sunday so I don’t think there’s any question over who’s name should be on the team sheet.
