Just watched a re-run of recent international goals conceded in the last campaign and Craig Gordon does not look too clever in many of them. I know it's different from club football with different defenders in front of him but I have raised concerns about him on here for a long time and hope we have a replacement in mind pretty soon.
I know he is a good shot stopper as such, but his positioning, reactions and decision making are all over the place.

He was badly at fault for the English second goal.

He's a kinda "Marmite" Keeper. Cross balls and getting beat at his near post far to often is my gripe.

I don't see him staying no1 after the summer. Dorus contract will expire so we will be looking to bring someone in to challenge for the jersey. I've not seen much of hazard and no disrespect to him but I'd be disappointed if he was No2 and Gordon was kept on as first choice. Just depends if BR wants to spend money elsewhere in the team.

He is way way way not good enough. Never really tested in SPL but at European and international level he is poor.

I think we should be looking to spend a few quid sourcing a new, quality keeper. Gordon has had no competition in his time with Celtic and is responsible for quite a few howlers and got away with it. He's a good shot stopper but his tendency to palm the ball back into play is furiating! He's also kicking on a bit in years so we will have to replace him sooner or later.

Doesn't take long for the knives to come out does it I seem to remember Gordon pulling off what some were calling a world-class save to keep our unbeaten run going along with some other recent top class shot stopping easily forgotten by some on here.

I saw that Vorm of Spurs, that we were linked with, is coming to the end of his contract this summer as he only signed a 1 year extension.

Would be good to see Dorius leave and then you have Vorm and Gordon fighting it out for the number 1 slot.

BigD, that's the point made. Most of us accept he can be a brilliant shot stopper but goalkeeping is far more than just making great saves. CG has poor distribution, poor control of his area and six yard box. Stands on the goal line more often than not and leaps like a half-shut knife sometimes.

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Oct 2017 09:57:18
I keep reading about vorm but the guy hasn't kicked a baw in years. No one knows if he still has it. Plus I would question the drive and desire of any player that was as good as him that is willing to sit and just take the money.

Anyone got any info/ know how on getting Bayern away tickets, allocation is gone to season bookers, was hoping to find 3.

So for the money we spend on any player, what keeper is out there in our price range and does he want to come to the SPFL.

Pretty sure there on general sale. No issues with tickets in home end mate be thousands in there.

Thanks Welshy, I looked and they are available but my daughter refuses to go in there unless we are with the Bhoys.

That's wee Chesney away. Hopefully the Cabal are next. Who do you think would be a good candidate for the next manager? No doubt the press will throw in mcleish and Walter in the frame garbage.

Moyes and MacKay are being touted as favourites atm. Somebody who's willing to play guys on merit will do for me.

12 Oct 2017 15:53:46
Someone who doesn't have his head filled with a system, like WGS and Ronnie, and tries to pick players to fit the system, rather get someone who picks the best players and uses a system that works for those players.

Agree1 Disagree2

12 Oct 2017 15:58:05
Have to say that I can't stand the guy but we need a winner and the only guy I can think of is Sir Purple Nose Ferguson himself.

I would do a better job than moyes! Maybe I'm in the minority here but I think strachan was the right man. Another crack at it and I think he would have done it.

Hopefully broony retires and focuses on the champs.

Tommy Wright fae st Johnstone for me.
He lives in scotland
He knows all the home based players so hopefully wouldn't just give a game to anyone just because they've kicked a baw in England
He tries to play decent football when he can but can shut up shop when it's needed
He knows how to do a job without very much resources.

12 Oct 2017 17:33:28
Would not be a bad shout Kev.

Anyone who is willing to play on form players and youth. Its a pity the SFA wouldn't GTF aswel so we can totally start over with forward thinking people.

12 Oct 2017 18:20:01
Good shout Kev plus it would stop the Huns getting him which in my opinion they should have done! ☘️.

Think they probably brought Malky McKay in as a ready made replacement - although another 'Celtic Connection' may not sit well with the kirk?

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Oct 2017 20:04:10
Malky McKay doesn't sit well with me never mind the bloody Kirk.
What about Lambert with jim Duffy on the staff?
Or a left field one here Harry rednapp.

12 Oct 2017 21:09:06
Spot on stan. The Huns should have went for Tommy Wright Kev but the people will be against him now for comments about Para Pedro! It's their big club mentality that they think guy's like Wright aren't big enough for them. Alas just a mediocre team without any EBT's.

What is the salary offered for the national job? Seen something a few years back saying Craig Levein was on £400k?

Lambert Duffy and McNamara. The Zombies would be crying into their coco pops.

If the Northern Irish don't qualify I'don't be happy with Michael O'Neill. Gets results out of an average overaged squad of players. Ideally someone that will bring through the next gen of players.

13 Oct 2017 07:49:35
Doesn't need to be a big manager fae a big club. Craig Brown came from Clyde if I mind right.
His biggest strength was he knew how to organise a team. That's what we need now. We have soon great player but not many. Get someone who knows how to work like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2017 09:20:17
Wee Craig followed on from Andy Roxburgh as I recall and was assisting him before stepping up.

Look at the guys we have had since then. 3 old firm managers. Done nothing. Very experienced German. Done nothing. Being at big club or a big name means nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2017 10:39:44
I don't get why Kenny Dalglish is not getting mentioned.
I wouldn't touch McLeish with a barge pole, Moyes needs to do a decent job somewhere before getting in contention and as for San Allardyce, I think I'd need counselling if he got the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Oct 2017 12:11:11
Kev83, Wright is a very good shout. Like I said, I don't think the job requires a big name, just somebody who can see the bigger picture and pick guys who deserve it and abandon the old pals act.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Oct 2017 18:17:33
You don't want someone who was successful at club level, because he could go out and buy better players, if he wasn't happy with the status quo, you can't do that at international level, you need someone who can get the best out of the best players available, who is not afraid to give youth a chance, you need someone who rewards ability and form, but in the first place has to be a good man manager,

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Oct 2017 21:41:29
So if you are successful at club level that rules you out then aindoh? Can you take it one step further and make the criteria that you either had to prove yourself to be absolutely crap at club level or never have managed at all before?
What utter bollocks.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Oct 2017 11:32:15
Maybe the grammar was wrong, English was never my best subject, I meant to say, you don't want someone who was ONLY successful at domestic level because he could bring out the cheque book and buy better players if he wasn't happy with the status quo,

Certainly no arguments regarding a statue for Tommy Burns. If ever anyone deserved one it was Mr Celtic and it would make it even more special if it was fan funded. Totally agree that we should have our Legends/ Icons Statues all around the Celtic way. It would be inspiring for the players and fans.

Ed007 what's the score with Jozo? We were told he's torn a muscle and would be out a few weeks. Now his international manager saying he didn't play other night because he was ill.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I've not seen that, Kev but I did say at the time everyone had jumped the gun regarding Simunovic's hamstring injury, it was the same with the stories about Lustig getting injured with Sweden because he missed one training session with them.}

{Ed007's Note - Simunovic trained today, Kev but I found that out after I answered you so I posted it up on the rumours page.}

Wont be long until John Le Carre and Fredrich Forsythe will be managing in the SPL.
