John Guidetti has been hard done to by Refs and Linesman recently, with at least two onside goals wrongly chalked off. He is due a break soon.
I love to watch our centrebacks at the moment, they make the game look so easy, really wish we had them for two more seasons.
What about the Ronny Deila song folks :)

Just heard that Celtic have refused to increase Aberdeen's allocation for home game next month, I get the fact that Aberdeen and Hearts, now they are attracting more fans to their home games, have cut our allocation but surely when most Celtic fans see small visiting groups of fans at Celtic Park, we should be encouraging more away fans.Even 3000 extra away fans would surely not hinder Celtic at home and would create a better atmosphere

Believable0 Unbelievable15

I wouldn't be for giving extra seats for away fans . This is the league, we shouldn't give Aberdeen an inch either on or off the pitch . This is serious competition and it may be seen that we are taking it likely if we give them more seats than normal.

Agree2 Disagree0

From what I heard it was because of trouble with stewards Tim and damage to the ground.Dont know if that's true but it seems to be the reason.

Matthews or Lustig?

I think they're both good right backs but in different ways. Lustig for me is more solid defensively whereas Matthews is a better wing back. Lustig though may just be that bit more solid because he gets forward a bit less? Don't have the stats but in my eyes they're about as injury prone as eachother so could possibly see one being sold.

If so, who would people rather keep? Not much in it for me but purely because he's younger Matthews edges it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi JT for me a would try keep Lustig, probably get a decent premium for Matthews too, a think Mulgrew will probably be away on a Bosman to Bolton next season as he was NL's fav (pending NL still being there obviously) A just think Lustig is vice captain material he was our best player in the last CL campaign but as you say there not much in it mate even small margins!

The good news for me is that each of the big three / four teams in Norway all seem to have TOP right backs so am sure we can plunder one of them for one of them if they are as good as Lustig (that's where we got him) that will do me buddy :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Lustig is better player. I think he's better defensively and offers more in attack. Weighs in with more goals, both from open play and set pieces - and has a better end product in terms of crosses/assists etc.

I like Matthews but if I'm being honest, I think he promised more than he has ultimately delivered. Infact, I probably like the idea of the player he could have/should have became for us more than the player he has become for us.

An issue I do have is that both players seem to be quite injury prone. Always a concern - and given that we have a plethora of players who are never off the treatment table, I'd be looking to offload one - in this case Matthews.

I'd definitely look to bring someone else in as a first choice/challenger. If Lustig can shake off these constant niggles, he'd be my number one, but that's a huge if and one week in two out isn't great for continuity.

On different topic, in 38 seconds last night, GMS contributed more than Forrest has in a long time. GMS like Armstrong, are players I'm excited to see at the club - but this is more about how little/poor JF is doing than a glowing assessment of the new bhoys.

Agree3 Disagree0

One big plus with Lustig is his height and strength . We are basically a small team and especially with Mulgrew out we need Lustig fit and playing when possible . I appreciate Bitton is very tall, but he lacks strength in the air .

Agree0 Disagree0

The poetic patient . True GMS scored within 38 secs., but what the hell was he doing for the other 92 mins 🐣🐔
Seriously GMS had a very good debut which is great and hopefully it's the first of very many good games for us . Also if James Forrest can get an injury free run it will also be great for us . I can imagine nothing better than two class wingers vieing for the manager's nod for every game .

Agree0 Disagree0

That's the thing Chris, I don't think Forrest is a class winger. I can count in one hand the amount of games where he's been impressive. Yes he's scored the odd goal - but that's just it, it's the odd goal. Wingers are notoriously hot and cold. Forrest is barely lukewarm at best. I'd seriously take any sensible offer for him. Nowhere near the quality required (even when fit) and there are players in the SPL I'd take over him in that position. He's 23 - no longer a young player.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hi TPP, I agree with you on JF to not be able to play 2 games in a week is not good enough IMO for a 23 yr old winger!

Could be another on NL's "wish list" od Bosman's! As I understand it both are out of contract at the end of next season and both we are in all probability NL's favourite's (outwith Broonie & KC)!

Can't see them being anything else now other than squad players if am honest and if NL is still @ Bolton next season could easily see him place both cheeky bids for one or the other if not both!

Agree1 Disagree0

On the subject of Matthews vs lustig I would take lustig just now. But Matthews is still a fantastic player and I think there is room for both in the squad. on the subject of Forrest I don't like to say this but I think it's time to move him on with our best wishes. He has taken a lot in wages with little playing time in return. Just to get him off the wage bill without a fee would be enough imo. He will find a championship club who will give him 15k+ every week no problems. But in our current climate we can't keep subsidising him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say Lustig as well due to the fact he can cover at CB although you could give the same agrument for Matthews covering LB. Matthews was one of my favourite players and think he is slowly getting better again, but just not the same after his injury

Agree0 Disagree0

The poetic poem. I agree Forrest hasn't strung a long list of impressive displays either last season or this season yet . Many young players have problems with injuries and grow out of them to have long largely injury free successful careers . I hope Forrest can do that .
Remember we have only seen GMS score one odd goal for Celtic and as yet we have no idea how injury free he can remain when training and playing with a much higher standard of play at a more intense level.

Agree0 Disagree1

Both are good players but I prefer Matthews, lustig biggest flaw is he doesn't tackle well enough and allows crosses to come in, he has the advantage on Matthews in height and is probably a bit more composed. The difficulty is we need to keep them both due to the likelihood of injuries. Lustig seems to have a particular weakness perhaps related to his previous hip problems. In fact he is probably out as often as Forrest which I'd not going to be manageable

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris, my point wasn't about GMS - it was referring to just how little Forrest has done since he "broke through".

"Many young players. "

That's my point. He's not a young player any more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great point Poetic about Matthews. Perhaps I do prefer the player he could be to the actual player.

As for the Forrest GMS thing - GMS is streets ahead. In fact, while we're on, I'd like to see Commons play second fiddle to Armstrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bhoys some of us are going head over heals for the new bhoys again .
I recommend we all take a little time to evaluate our new players . There was a short time when some folk here thought Guidetti was akin to Larsson and at the very least the best striker the hoops have had since the King of Kings. Now when we have time to watch Guidetti, many of us have our doubts of him .
I was delighted with both GMS and Armstrongs debuts, both were great but I have to say that we have to wait and not jump the gun. Let's see how well they perform over the rest of the season, before we jump to conclusions .

Agree0 Disagree0

Humbug chris :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course I hope these two prove to be great Celtic players for years to come . Just give them time and don't make big heroes of them yet, I would prefer them to earn the heroes status . Guidetti got too much hero worship too soon, now he is panicking, that he is losing it on and off the pitch .

I think Emilio Izzaguire is back to his very best and has been outstanding for us lately.
Last night was a great example as he was dazzling on the ball and has really tightened up his defensive duties - with good cover supplied from a solid centre back pair and hard working defensive midfield.
He is one of our most skilful and creative players and it's good to see him and others like Johansen and Mathews at their best after a shaky spell.
Johansen is much better in the attacking role and even reminds me of Stan Petrov with his industry link up play and eye for a goal.

I don'y buy into this Treble talk and I know it's a sign of the confidence at the club - and the fans have voted favourably on a poll as well - but I am too old and cautious to take anything for granted at Celtic and you never know what's around the corner, but we are playing not too badly and it's good to see us winning consistently and keeping clean sheets - and most of these recent games have been away from home.
If I am totally honest, I actually think we can get even better if we tidy up our final ball and finish off more of the chances we create if Guidetti, Griffiths or Scepovic go an a wee run of form.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Junglejim I see nothing wrong at our manager, players and fans setting out a target for us to win the treble. By aiming to win the target we are not demonstrating super/over confidence the treble, it's more like keeping in mind the desire to win everything domestically .

Really good performance again last night, since the Kilmarnock match at the start of the year we have been pretty dominant in the matches.
The pleasing thing last night was that although we made a couple of changes, it didn't affect our performance, Mackay-steven and Armstrong played really well on their debuts, and both of them scoring should be a confidence booster for them.
I was really hoping Guidetti could have scored as it may have got him motoring again, but I am sure it won't be lo before he starts hitting the back of the net.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Of course it would be wonderful if Guidetti started scoring again. Against Partick Thistle he worked very hard and was unlucky not to score .
Despite his good showing Guidetti has a lot to do to take over the main striking role from Leigh Griffiths.

With all the talk of the new Sky/BT television deal in 18 months time, just remember BT have also put more money into next season's Champions League just to qualify for group stages is now worth about £22m+ so it is even more imperative Delia gets Celtic into these group stages.

Believable5 Unbelievable15

Aye £2m extra for celtic is really going to have teams quaking in their boots. Pmsl best joke you have posted yet lmao
