@ (3) Well said, Ed 007 any chance of a couple of ootsiders and some lentil soup, since yir jist roon the co-ornir. Cheers. Lol {Ed007's Note - It grinds my gears every year all this nonsense. When we have starving and freezing kids, OAPs that can't afford to heat their houses all we can argue over is a poppy.}

Sorry ED007 I must disagree with a lot of what you are saying. My family wear the poppy with pride to remember my grandfather who died on HMS Hood during world war 2.We do not try and bring politics into it the way you just have.
We all have our views and different shades of political opinions, who is to say your views are better than my views.
Perhaps, as you say, a white poppy might be more appropriate, I would consider that option.
But just because some people or clubs have hijacked the red poppy, does not mean the meaning of it is wrong.
One of the worst things to be hijacked was the swastika by the Nazis, which was originally a sign of peace. The Nazis were wrong, not the emblem.
Same thing with the red poppy most see it as an emblem for good.
As for your "charity begins at home" I am involved with a credit union which tries to help poorer families all year round, but at Christmas the old and less well off are given gifts of food.
I do not agree with this, as I feel a caring, compassionate government should help all its citizens not just ones that voted them in.
As I say I do not agree but I help out as my conscience would not allow me to do anything else.
I hope you will print this ED007, add your piece, if you wish, then we will agree to disagree and move on. Timalloy (serious for one day only) {Ed007's Note - I'm not judging anyone's views Tim. I firmly believe the decision to wear a poppy or not should be left to the individuals preference, just like any charitable donation is. There is no right or wrong in any of it, it is called freedom of choice.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the fact that a lot more people either wear a white poppy, like me, or wear none at all. Like Bond I find the whole thing very distasteful. This does not mean I do not respect the choice of anyone wearing one, but the true meaning has been warped to suit a specific agenda.

These men and women, and the millions of civilians on all sides, in all wars, must be remembered.But to truly honour them people must start taking control of their lives.Step one towards that is not doing things you are not comfortable with, like wearing a paper badge because everyone does it.

If some people put as much energy, politically, into stopping wars as remembering them, this world might be a bit better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi guys
I wear a poppy for the 2 sisters my mother lost in the clydebank blitz.
Dont care what my fellow celtic fans think

its personal not political

Hi all as an ex service man I wear my poppy with pride. I have lost friends in meaningless wars so I wear it for them. I am proud of my time in the RN and respect everyone's choice as the wear or not a poppy. After all the reason we have this choice is because those before us fought and died for us to have that choice.

On a slightly different note my daughter who is 6 was talking to me tonight about the 2 mins silence today. She said dad see when we had to be quiet today at school did everyone lay down their weapons. If only it was that simple the world would be so much better.

Ian {Ed007's Note - Out of the mouths of children.....

Agree0 Disagree0

@Ian; Hope for the future there I think.Well done that Ghirl.

Agree0 Disagree0

""The Scottish Professional Football League, formed over the summer, does not have a policy on Remembrance Sunday tributes, leaving gestures to the discretion of clubs.""

This weekend only two grounds held a minutes silence and one team wore poppies. So your earlier nonsense Ed about agendas being forced onto clubs and players regarding poppies and Remembrance Sunday was nonsense dreamed up by you only. I noticed you didn't post my reply to you which was weak and cowardly. On cue Green Jhedi has popped up (no pun intended) with similar lines to mine you didn't post and I'm beginning to think he and you are one and the same. You clearly have an anti poppy anti Remembrance Sunday agenda and are now backtracking to an its up to each individual stance. {Ed007's Note - So why did Ross County feel the need to issue an apology if there is no policy? Read back through all my posts, I have always said it should be a personal choice but don't let the truth get in the way of your warped stories. The only anti agenda I have is anti-idiots like you. You obviously an imbecile and I refuse to argue or debate with people less intelligent than myself, I learnt years ago to never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. So there's no point arguing with you, your idiocy will always win.}

We're between a rock and a hard place now with our striking crisis. Our existing strikers are off form and our two new guys haven't found any form.

I feel a loan striker isn't the answer. I also think a striking coach will end up making them worse, by making them think too much rather than being instinctive.

There's few options mid season window and we shouldn't waste money. Persevere with the guys we've got and surely some form will be found. I don't think premiership is at risk as Celtic goals can come from anywhere. But it's all about a decent showing in Europe.

I'd like to see a changeout next summer with top quality targeted/ scouted now and pre contracts signed ASAP. That might shock these guys into some action.
CL qualifiers come early as usual and important new strikers are on board and bedded in and scoring early in the window not at the end of the window.

Usually I HATE loan signings and never think they do any good miku, brosek bein perfect examples and a know ed thinks the same here but for talking sake if we r still in europe past xmas wether it be cl or europa would yous take a striker on loan in jan or stick with what we have considering balde can't really get any game time pukki tbh is never a striker and the rest just don't look like scoring in europe our last 6 goals have been a pen and a deflected shot against ajax and in the league a header against dundee utd and 4 headers against ross county can't see many strikers being available for transfer in jan especially available 2 play in europe so maybe a loan signing wouldn't be 2 bad this season. Any other season i'd be totally against it but in previous seasons we have always had striking options this season we don't and I would rather youth was gave a chance along with balde but realistically its not going to happen we all know that. Obviously don't know what strikers will actually be available for loan and not cup tied in jan anyway but just for arguments sake would it be worth a punt for 6 months 2 help with europe because the league will be won anyway we know that then try for signings again in the summer (hopefully). Just wanting peoples thoughts here i'm not saying it's what we should do lol just tryin 2 start a wee discussion a know what ed's answer will be lol and i'd usually be with him on it but what the rest of yous think?

as I keep saying we let our best striker go on loan. before taking a outsider on loan I would recall tony. just a thought there bangura will soon be back. would anyone want to see him get a game? looked good against us let's give the lad another chance maybe?

ed is it december he's back? if so then play him and see what capable of. he looked a vast improvement a few months back. caused us all sorts of problems with no one supporting him {Ed007's Note - Watt is on a season long loan and won't be back until next summer unless there are clauses in the deal to cancel it early.}

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Nov 2013 14:56:34
sorry ed didn't word that right. meant is bangura back in december?
would you like to see him get a chance? also any info on this icelandic kid? thanks man {Ed007's Note - Sorry I picked that up wrong, Bangura will be back here in January. As for Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson, he is still only 20 and although he is highly rated I would be surprised if he made any initial impact on the first-team squad.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic has a striker crisis.
Make no mistake about that.
Tony Watt isn't the answer. Tony Watt got lots of SPL/ Premiership games before being loaned out. His goals per game minutes is poor. He's gone away to be improved. Rumours of attitude difficulties also. Watt is never a Hooper replacement, anyone who thinks so is as deluded as a deady bear at a Charles Green briefing.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a side note regarding Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson. Fram Reykjavík chairman Kjartan Þór Ragnarsson has told CFC that they need to slightly improve their offer.
It shouldn't be too much of a problem and the deal looks very likely to go through.

@3 tony watt is the most direct player we have. left wing was where he was being played any wonder wasnt scoring many. when tony played as striker he was quality. full of pace and never let us down.

also yea your right we do hear reports of lazyness in training and what not but training doesn't get us three points. match day the kid was full of enthusiasm. unlike attitude during games of others (stokes, commons, forrest)

thanks ed I had thought he was back before that

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 you sound like a deady bear yourself infact you sound like their fat manager with your "Make no mistake about that" statement. don't you realise any/most time on park young watt was played out of position, ., .kbarry

If anyone suggested that McCourt should have stayed and got reg football regardless of his fitness level or training ability they would be asked to attend AA meetings and he was technology heads and shoulders above Watt .
Training ground is where you hone you skills and reach a fitness level to enable you to play at the level required, if Watt wasn't putting in the effort the decision was the correct one .

as I said its performance on the pitch. mc court didn't always perform ie wasnt always interested looking. watts attitude on the pitch was second to none. I don't know what happens in training but when it matters he always stood out for me

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is fans work long hrs and pay hard earned money to watch some of these spoilt brats who don't know when they are well off.

Attitude is everything

Top 5 in england: southampton only lost once and sitting 3rd in league the other four losing twice each. that's how good Wanyama is

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And Artur.

Agree0 Disagree0

And a quality manager. the L bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you see the goal Wanyama gave away? Made a right howler and was hooked right after it!
He was a good player for us with potential and remains that.
Wanyama used Celtic to move to bigger wages, which he has every right to do, but i'm guessing he has very little interest in us now, so I have very little interest in his career to be honest.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama has started every Premiership game since they signed him. At the end of the day that answers any tripe the zombies or doubters throw at the subject. He's still getting up to speed in the Premiership but he's still been good enough to pick before Steven Davis lol. Wait till he scores his first goal and the confidence that comes with that. Same thing happened at Celtic, he got his first then started scoring quite regularly (for a defensive minded midfielder)at crucial times and in big games.

Lost count of the amount of times I've heard "Wanyama hisnae kicked a baw at Southampton" but you don't play 90 mins of almost every game when your not performing. He isn't influencing games like he done at Celtic because of the simple fact that it's a far higher standard. He proved in the champions league he can step up a level though and I'm 100% sure once he's up to speed with the Premiership he will be a stand out.

That's one way of looking at it, but I think that's a wee bit of a cynical look at Wanyama's career thus far.
I don't think he "used" us. no more than any player ever "used" any club, ever?
I'll always keep an eye on the lad and wish him nothing but the best. Always seemed like such a nice, humble boy with big ambition. Celtic gave him the platform he needed to kick start his career, i'm sure he of all people is aware of this and he was a fans favourite, and the way he picked his number out - didn't it make you wish all signings had that attitude? Chin up Joeshmo HH. pea

@1 yeah and artur, ., .kbarry

Wanyama and indeed Hooper no longer play for nor wants to play for Celtic so all arguments to do with them are irrelevant .

Shame we couldn't have replaced class with quality the we we done with Wilson for Van Dijk. In my eyes we've still not replaced Hooper & Wanyama. Ian L
