I've never being calling for Allen in particular, but last night, even as a 'meaningless game', just shows the pressure that any manager would be subject to trying to give squad players a chance.

To be fair he has hardly been given any time to show if he has a future at Celtic and one partial game in an end of season team thrown together by an out-going manager had more than a few bad performances.
I posted earlier that only Erik, McGregor and maybe Christie were on their game and Griffiths scored a gem.
The rest were typical of why we had such a bad season, with basic mistakes, predictability and careless play.
The new boss has got to be named and appointed ASAP to sort this lot out and get rid of the dross and past their best players in order to put together a REAL Celtic team.

Some evaluation needing done as he's no better than Rogic Christie impressed it is probably him and Armstrong that needs to go and we haven't really seen either play in their preferred position but surely in training the coach will know. I think Allans vision of pass is slightly better and his corners but Armstrong has much more pace.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2016 22:27:55
There is no work in Scot Allan, he doesn't get stuck in or try to become involved in the action . I don't think any Manager could play any player solely for the ability to make or see a pass.
Jock Stein had a far better passer of a ball and a brilliant corner kick taker, Charlie Gallagher but he only played him when several players was missing.

Half a team when the leagues already in the bag, manager leaving, why did a not put a score on St Johnstone it was on the cards. Na a could never bet against celtic it wouldn't feel right collecting that money. Anyway roll on next year. Hail hail.

Celtic are in a mess right now. Too many poor players such as Allan who like many others should never have been bought. It's not just the fact that RD has played poor football, and bought poor players, a new manager has to try and sort this out. Where does the budget come from to replace these players. How many can we get rid of? RD had done immense damage to Celtic so hope s the RD supporters who tell us what a great progressive manager he is take note. He should have been gone after the Warsaw game!

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed007's Note - So you think RD scouted Allan, watched him himself, decided to sign him and it took him a year to see that Allan didn't suit his system, and you honestly believe that? You think that after being in Scotland for 6 months and watching players for years all over Europe that the best option RD could come up with was Armstrong and GMS? Scepovic, Ciftci and CKR, all RD singings too?
I suppose you think he signed Craig Gordon too? Do you know how friendly RD is with Dudu Dahan? Do you know where Peter Lawwell's son works and what he does?
I've just noticed who posted this - I shouldn't have wasted my time.}

12 May 2016 00:44:45
Hehe this is laughable Christie allan sure Forrest and commons are shit their no better than Armstrong and gms lol commons and Forrest are miles ahead Ronny has no clue.

12 May 2016 01:33:37
Let's remember he signed Berget and let him go he also played borriegter in the maribor game played Ambrose and left denayer on the bench after playing the away leg!

Agree2 Disagree3

12 May 2016 10:21:11
Johnnymac your hatred for RD is shocking. Its not just the board that's the problem, its fans like yourself who can't see the bigger picture and realise his hands were seriously tied.

Paddymaguire sorry are boerighter and berget not wingers? The two of them at time were better than what we had! Denayer was only a youth player with virtually no experience so its obvious why he played Ambrose. Utter nonsense as usual from you.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 May 2016 11:12:29
Hopefully the scouting is under pressure too as some of the duds we've signed over the last few years have been terrible. The portfolio of players Dudu Dahan has is good I'd be happy with most our business done through him. Christie done okay for me yesterday I'd rather he was on the left over Armstrong as it's his more natural position.

Perhaps all those calling for Allan to get a game will pipe down now. Unfit and not good enough. Awful performance. Any decent manager will run a mile watching that.

11 May 2016 21:34:37
Totally agree on that performance. I haven't really seen Allan before he moved here but not seen much to think he will be any good. Team tonight was poor with a couple of exceptions

Bailey - not confident in him at all. Big part to blame for second goal and looked shaky throughout

Janko - didn't do much i felt but first game back so can understand that.

Ambrose - torture! Don't care what anyone else says he is another Tebily. Needs sold.

Erik - MOTM - looks a brilliant player!

Izzy - unfit and played poor.

Allan - as above

Christie - showed some nice touches to suggest he could be a player.

Roberts - poor. Very obvious I feel. Always cuts inside. Can't doubt he is a good player but needs to be less obvious.

Mcgregor - played ok I thought. Think he has the potential to be a big player for us if played regularly but jury still out.

Johansen - first half ok no more. Second half poor, even out with the mistake he was giving the ball away too often.

Griffiths - did nothing the whole game but still got us a goal. Did his job in that aspect

Overall poor performance with fringe players not convincing that they deserve to be more than that.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 May 2016 21:54:27
I agree with that assessment Marty
Christie has potential - I feel he could play as a second striker - in a system that has two wing men supporting.

Bally - poor distribution

Efe, izzy, both need to move on.

Erik - looks the part, if brown isn't uni would keep him captain, look forward to seeing him alongside jozo.

Roberts - needs coaching to make the most of his talent. Not much useful tracking back, great when he cuts into his left but defenders next year could have him Sussed.

LG - 40 goals - never saw that coming at the start of the season, well done Leigh.

I think we have sat to deep with the ball all season, plenty of possession, but who cares when it's mainly your centre backs and a holding midfielder. I hope next year we push teams back and play round their box, forcing the mistakes from their end, I always feel playing the ball constantly back along the defence is asking for trouble and a waste of the ball.

Well done five in a row, best of luck Ronnie, you talked the talk but the rest is history.

Let's move on with five titles behind us onwards and upwards.

Hail hail.

Marty

I haven't called for Allan but I think it is unfair judging him on 80 minutes on a pitch that looked like a tattie field.

Like Armstrong he was played out of position too so again unfair to judge.

If he isn't in the new managers plans he should be moved on for his own good along with a few other midfielders. The problem being how do you see the wood for the trees?

Agree1 Disagree2

11 May 2016 22:30:16
Got to laugh at the critics of Allan, been more or less ignired all season and gets a start in a meaningless end of season game and plays badly (didnt see the game so must assume, he played so badly that he dragged the rest of the team down, ) and of course he's the one that draws all the critisicm, the only one that should be getting flak is Ronnie, if he had played Allan and Christie together in midfield since the new year, the team would have performed much better, as for wishing Ronnie well, of course i wish him well in his new career, well away from football management.

Agree2 Disagree5

11 May 2016 22:55:08
Allan isn't a left winger it's a position we really need to sort out I'm not a Scott Allan fan but maybe he would be better of judged when his played in the middle.

11 May 2016 23:26:33
He wasn't good enough to sign in the first place.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 May 2016 23:26:56
Niall, aindoh, gordo agree that it's probably harsh of me to judge Allan based on tonight when he is played on the left but all I am saying is that I haven't seen anything yet of him to suggest he is good enough, not saying he isn't but just not seen it. He played a couple of good passes tonight but that was it, whilst he may not be in his favourite position surely u would think he would be busting a gut to prove a point? In an end of season pointless game surely you would want to prove a point when other players can't be arsed?

11 May 2016 23:29:56
Island celt, agree wuth you, sat too deep all season. Not sure about you, but when st j attacked I thought they would score! Need two up front I think. One only works if you have 3 brilliant players behind them.

Just been reading that the SFA have just docked Dundee United 3 points and fined them £30000 for fielding 2 ineligible players against ICT. If they are setting this precident and when Hector wins his case against you know who then their tax dodging chairman will not get much change from his make believe 30 million warchest. Then again the SFA make the rules to suit. Interesting times ahead.

Griffiths is 8/ 13 to score anytime tonight, 11/ 4 to get a double and 9/ 1 a hat trick.
As he is desperate to reach at least 40 goals and tonight is his last chance (he is suspended for last match) he will be taking all free kicks, penalties (a Scottish referee giving Celtic a penalty, we can dream lol) and the team will be playing him in all night, I am going to have a wee nibble at all 3 outcomes.

Someone posted a picture of Rodgers on twitter boarding a flight from Mallorca to London that has the ball rolling that he may be meeting DD. Said he was deep in thought scribbling on a piece of paper like he was preparing for an interview. I bloody hope so!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

11 May 2016 14:36:29
We know flights to London are rare so there must be something in it. Add in the fact that he was seen "scribbling" notes -- a hallmark of a Celtic manager of ever there was one -- and its surely a formality? If they are still taking bets after information like this, more fool them.

11 May 2016 14:52:56
Ha ha thepoeticpatient not an ounce of sarcasm in that reply at all! Listen people will believe what they want to believe it's called optimism we as Celtic fans need to have it in abundance!

Agree3 Disagree0

11 May 2016 17:01:57
I did chuckle there PP. However I put even more money on Rodgers last night after the RK bets were suspended. Call me daft but when one of the Eds says something, I take it as gospel. They don'tt just throw rumours / info around willy nilly.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2016 17:02:16
Not even a little bit Gaz! ;)

Seriously though, I'm all for optimism. Hopefully there will be an announcement soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2016 17:22:03
Absolutely Jim.

Fact is, I think it'll be Rodgers simply BECAUSE Ed posted what he did. He doesn't post that stuff without there being something there, or him believing it to be true, and that's enough for me.

I just find it hilarious that Rodgers being in an airport would mean anything other than Rodgers being in an airport!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2016 21:31:23
All ed said was Rodgers thinks he is a cert for the job, how does that mean he is a cert for the job. What Rodgers thinks and what he knows are 2 different things. He's got a massive ego so he's probably believing his own hype. Not saying a doubt u ed, a think u heard what u said but it doesn't make it true.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2016 21:59:18
There's always that steph too. I don't doubt he said it at all either. But of course that doesn't make it true.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2016 10:33:26
What do you think 15mil would get us next transfer window? i'm assuming if that's the amount keane will be given, if someone else gets the job, theyd get similar?

Id imagine there's a few decent players out of contract that could be persuaded by the right manager. But its getting a manager that can attract decent players, that's the worrying bit.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

11 May 2016 11:58:16
There's always a chance we may cash-in on Bitton, Johansen or Rogic (or all three) as well as freeing- up cash by releasing the deadwood and 'rejects'.
I would welcome a clear out at the club as a lot of this squad have been there too long and become stale or ineffective under both RD and NL.

Agree3 Disagree1

11 May 2016 12:02:44
It could get us a lot if used in the right markets. Players like El Younoussi and Mocinic and other players in Scandanavia and Eastern Europe would cost 2-3mil tops. There's loads of good players in these leagues, I just hope our scouts have been looking there!

Agree2 Disagree1

11 May 2016 15:11:42
Hope we aren't going to cash in on rogic.
He should be one of the players we build round.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 May 2016 15:23:03
Johansen wasnt great this season but was no bad previously. Bitton aye, plenty who can step up. Would keep stokes but commons, no. Get him away and rogic if he wants to go.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 May 2016 17:37:41
Due to a combination of a poor season by his own standards, and the things behind the scenes, I think it may be best to cash in on Johansen. I won't be at all surprised to see him go to a good club in league a lot better than ours. I'd put Johansens fee and wages onto a contract for Vilhena from Feyenoord who I think is a free agent in the summer.
