kb???

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Knocked Back.}

There was no decision made, it's been pushed back. I think GCC want it installed as of 2015-16 but Celtic want it in by the time we move back to Celtic Park next season.

{Ed007's Note - I'll get that up for tomorrow, cheers.}

At least they'll be at the world cup. I'd say Algeria.

I think Algeria might be a surprise package. Australia for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Algeria will defo be a surprise package. Especially if Benzema + Nasri play to the best of their ability!

Raging, I posted that fishing trip yesterday afternoon and no-one took the bait. MUST-TRY-HARDER lol.

Hi Ed,

Any word on Celtic playing in Ireland over the summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - There's nothing planned that I know of, the released friendly fixtures are:

Rapid Vienna – Celtic Gerhard Hanappi Stadium 6 July 2014.
LASK Linz – Celtic Linzer Stadion 8 July 2014.
Dynamo Dresden – Celtic Glucksgas Stadium 19 July 2014.
FC St. Pauli – Celtic Millerntor-Stadion 26 July 2014.
Celtic – Tottenham Hotspur Helsinki Olympic Stadium 2 August 2014.

Any word on the possibility of playing Everton in Leon Osman's testimonial?

How Aiden McGeady and James McCarthy must be regretting chosing the REP over Scotland.

They are such a poor team, no talent coming through. Cannot wait for the Scots to romp them in the Euros

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I bet they aren't.}

McGeady's played in a major international tournament, Euro 2012. The last Scotland players who could say that were the likes of Jim Leighton, Tom Boyd, John Collins, Gordon Durie, Kevin Gallacher, Colin Hendry, Colin Calderwood, Craig Burley, Billy McKinlay, etc - 16 yrs ago!

Agree0 Disagree0

You also mention no talent coming through? There's by far more better quality young Irish players coming through the youth systems or already playing in England than there are Scottish. Ian Lawlor, Shane Duffy, Jeff Hendrick, Greg Cunningham, James McCarthy, Robbie Brady, Sean Murray, Anthony Forde, Aiden O'Brien, Sean McGinty, Aaron McCarey, Samir Carruthers, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the R o I biggest problem is Roy Keane, the Irish media have had him as "ringmaster since he was appointed. Good assistants should be like children in my young days seen but not heard .

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt the ice cream van has stopped in your mans street again

Agree0 Disagree0

Something seriously going wrong . They have slipped to a record low for the ROI in the FIFA's ratings . I wouldn't blame MO'N but something isn't right .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You wouldn't blame MON but you blame Keane? Let's not blame the actual manager, there's no way any problems could possibly be anything to do with him. Anyone would think he was an ex-CFC manager or player, most of them can do no wrong.}

Martin O'Neill's entire post-Celtic career has been pretty lacklustre I think. Aston Villa, Sunderland and now Ireland have been nothing to shout about. Another classic example of the grass isn't always greener beyond the green field of Paradise!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they both feel more Irish/identify more in some way, get over it - people have been going on about this for bloody years. Maybe it had nothing to do with who were the best team but who they wanted to play for. My family are Scots and Irish, so I identify with both countries. What about all that other mob - they will be putting away their Chelsea strips and pulling out the England one, most have absolutely no connection at all with England, so what's all that about? My cousin has friends from London who are Chelsea fans, and they also keep an eye out for Celtic(they have Scottish family who are Celtic Supporters) anyway he was telling them about the Rangers/Chelsea thing, and sure enough they knew absolutely nothing about it. The reason for that is there is no link other than a few hundred casuals who started off in the 80's and still haven't grown up. These people need educated - any day now we'll also start to see the Holland strips, maybe even a wee Croatia strip - I drove by a boozer last night-lets just say it's not the sort that I would be made welcome in, 2 knuckleheads had just finished putting up 2 huge flags to cover outside, I drove by today and it's just the 2 that they put up. Sure enough Holland and Croatia - both Catholic countries as well, oh the irony.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry - I meant to add that I think this is the best Scottish team there has been for a long time, and the Irish team outwith Coleman/McCarthy/Long on a good day is looking very average. But as I said, I don't think either lad was doing it for the glory, they just felt more Irish, and that's their business!

Agree0 Disagree0

@ HB - your list of players there are average IMO.

@ Paul1 - that is my point, the REP have went right downhill and Scotland under GS have been excellent. can't see the REP being anywhere near any future international tournaments. The players mentioned should have stuck with the countries they were born in.

My opinion is simple, you play for the country you were born in. End off.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think their fathers may have remembered how certain players who didn't come from the blue Govan gene pool were treated in the past . Remember wee Jimmy, who spent hours talking to the families of the victims of the Ibrox disaster. Yet the same Jimmy was booed by the people fans whilst playing for Scotland a short time later .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - McCarthy was always going to choose to play for Eire. Have a read at this article about him that was written when he was 17 years old. He was 'advised' at the time, by people close to him, to say he would have chosen to play for Scotland if they had asked first to try and calm the situation.}

Kev T , there are very few Countries in the world that play only people born in their country .
Some Scottish people seem to have a problem with Scottish born players playing for the Republic of Ireland .
There doesn't seem to be any ongoing discussions with other people playing for the land of their fathers .

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely disagree with both of your points. These lads are all late teens to early 20s that played in the last U21s campaign and playing for Premiership / Championship teams. Scotland's under 21s are all playing for Hibs, Hearts, Sevco, St Mirren, Kilmarnock, etc's youth n development squads!

If you could only play for the country you were born in then Scotland would lose Matt Gilks, George Boyd, Kris Commons (if he comes out of retirement), James Morrison, Chris Martin, Phil Bardsley, Russell Martin, Matt Phillips, Liam Bridcutt, Jordan Rhodes, Jamie Mackie, etc from the international scene - I think you get the point. You win some, you lose some. In this case we've got a good few excellent English-born players n lost McCarthy + McGeady in recent years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets just say for eg that one year the family decide to go to Outer Mongolia for the summer holiday, - and sure enough yer Ma goes into labour - are you telling me a kid from Glasgow is obliged to play for them/have feelings for the country. Life isn't black and white. If a kid spends every holiday over in Ireland, and has Irish blood, what gives anyone the right to dictate what choices they should make? And yeah everyone knows that if Murdoch/McNeil/Jinky etc had been playing for the other mob they would have got 3/4 times as many caps!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have Outer Mongolia an International team?

Morning Ed and all maybe we could get a future poll mate following on from last nights thread what is the biggest amount we will think that will be spend on any INDIVIDUAL player in the next few seasons 0-1.5 m / 1.5 - 2.5m / 2.5 - 3.5 / 3.5 +

On a separate note surely we will get someone decent to fill that iconic no 7 jersey sometime soon? atb

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - That's it set up Jamie, to vote just click here. I've asked Ed001 to use your other question as a poll of the day.}

The Number 7 shirt should now be retired. Johnstone and Larsson were the only worthy owners of that jersey.

Thanks very much as usual ed

Lets hope not Farrell but difficult to see one in the horizon Robbie keane was the last one and that was 4/5 YEARS ago

PL must be well aware of its commercial value , but as you say it is a heavy jersey to wear atb

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Don't thank me, Jamie, we appreciate people sending in ideas for polls as it saves us having to think them up!}

I don't think we'll spend more than £2.5m on a single individual for the remainder of the time Lawwell is Chief Exec / DOF / Manager. I actually think it'll come down further.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't care if we only sign players on free contracts, it's their ability not the price we pay that matters .

Well said the Ayr chairman today spot on, over to you Doncaster.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't keep us in suspenders, what did he say?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2014 13:17:39
Why what has happened

Agree0 Disagree0

He's basically sayin sevco spending cash while losin 1mill a month. Quote I don't think clubs should be allowed to take part for specific period of time.

The system is broke and as it stands it's clubs like us who play by the rules who are being penalised while those who go bust and screw taxpayers flourish. Why the hell have rangers spent so much to win the bottom 2 divisions . His name is Lachlan Cameron

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2014 13:58:50
He sais teams like, rangers, hearts and dundee shouldn't be allowed to play in cup games as they have been through administration, and rangers only needed 10 % of what the have spent to win the two leagues they won

Agree0 Disagree0

The way things are going with the like of Ayr and Dundee UTD clubs speaking up, there is every chance our club will also be shamed into saying something .

Agree0 Disagree0

I see the Rangers propaganda machine at it again, with 1972 on their new strip, I will wait with bated breath to see the outcome of the Telfer scenario
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

It's bad enough I was born in the year they won the cup winners cup but the year they were formed aswell. Might have to change my log in lol

So Sepp Blatter has left his hotel in Brazil with a riot squad surrounding him. Reports say it was to protect the public from his bullsh*t. Good to see a lot of people finally coming to terms with FIFA. Total waste of money most of them

Got to say, I'm actually impressed with the new Celtic away kit. Looks the real deal. Then I saw the price when I added it to the shopping basket - £70 for the top wi a name n number on the back, bearing in mind that each kit is made using an average of 18 recycled plastic water bottles?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I love the new kit but they really need to do something about the price. I just can't justify paying that amount of money for a tshirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Heavy price just cost me £81.90 for long sleeve with name and bagdes plus fast delivery!. worth every penny or should a say pounds lol

Shout out to JB for correct info again 👍😆
