Just going back to one of the big highlights of 2012 Celtic v Barcelona

The Ballon D'Or awards this week had 5 Barcelona players in the team of the year (including the awards player of the year - Messi)

What an achievement going so close to the draw at the Nou Camp and actually beating them at Celtic Park :-)

With all the discussion about the EPL being the best league in the world, not one player in this team. I dare say its open to argument maybe RVP but would you drop Messi, Ronaldo or Falcao ?

Mrs E

Believable6 Unbelievable0

The only people who believe that the epl is quality is the english the german and Spanish league are of better quality a don't think a would drop any of them though a would maybe have the dortmund defender hummels in for ramos
Dez

Agree3 Disagree0

The EPL is the most over hyped sporting entity i have ever seen.At the moment the usual four suspects seem to be the only ones who can win it. Man city burst through, though Arsenal let them by lack of investment, and the rest are outsiders. There are lots of teams playing relatively meaningless games even at this stage, ticket prices are going through the roof thanks to ridiculous wages and this will eventually catch them out.sky, and every other commentator continually tell us it's the best in the world, sadly, some people believe it........green jhedi

Agree11 Disagree0

Of the back 4 i think only ramos deserved to be there. i think there are better players than the other 3

While visiting Boston in the summer, I took Mrs T to her first NFL game, after the game I asked how she had enjoyed it, she said "I loved watching all the gorgeous men in tight shorts, but what was all the fighting over 25cents" I was puzzled until she said "they tossed the coin then they all tried to get it back shouting get the QUARTER back" Hello she said even I know its only 25 cents"

Being Irish Catholic I have a soft spot for Notre Dame (Fighting Irish) but as we have relatives in Michigan I also like them.
One day I was watching Notre Dame v Michigan State when a neighbour asked which team I was rooting for, I replied "that is a hard one as it is the Church v The State"

Back home in Scotland, i bumped into my ex bear neighbour who told me that he could not get to the recent Sevco Elgin game but nobody wanted his freebie tickets, so when shopping at Braehead he left the 2 tickets under his windscreen wipers hoping someone would take them.
When he returned an hour later he found SIX more tickets there.....Timalloy (sorry ED007 GJ started it)

PS serious note now guys the Patriots have a BIG playoff game Sunday v Houston so as we have no game this weekend lets all say GO PATS....

just been over there, most of the posts are about leaving scottish football, some of them even deciding where to start . i've given up trying to make them see sense, so didn't even bother replying. what they're all too stupid to understand is this . unlike scottish football that did them a favour by letting a new club in . the english fa like uefa wil want to see three years audited accounts . so any bears reading this, forget it, you can't even think about it . you woud have to start at blue square level, and even if you won that you could'nt be promoted til 2017 til you have accounts in place. but the biggest stumbling block . england don't want you .. shammy

11 Jan 2013 20:08:28
First time posting just listened to bangers on radio saying rangers started season with understanding winners of s.f.l div 3 would be promoted to div 2 but now rules are being broken. At the risk of sounding stupid is the proposed league construction not going to consist of SPL1. SPL 2 SFL1 and SFL2 so the Bangers will be playing in SFL 2 next season {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site.}

Agree1 Disagree0

If they do their maths (we all know how the rangers like maths problems), they could actually be playing top flight football of some sort 6 months earlier than has been predicted . So again could be a form off bending the rules for them AGAIN .
Sorry for the capitals at the end ed I know how you do not like people to shout .lol

Just seen Fat Boy on TV preaching to the masses . He really is a slimy piece of work with comments like " it's a slap in the coupon to our fans " . Aye like it was a severe kick in the Chuckies to creditors when old co saw fit not to pay them a single penny . Another thing seems to be cropping up with management, fans, and newco pundits every time they make a statement . " why weren't the biggest team in the country consulted " or " why wasn't the top team in the country asked round the table " . Too much Frosty Jack I think or are they still just deluded......DH

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Deluded im afraid. They were not asked because....why would they ? they have no vote, chuckie sold it to beg for a licence. So much for take or punishment and enjoy the journey, i suspect that journey is becoming a bit tiresome........green jhedi

Agree5 Disagree2

Jhedi, it will be more tiresome next season, when they have to do it all again, and for less money, same ticket prices ? and only 17 home games.. shammy

Agree4 Disagree0

This self proclaimed 'top team/biggest club' know exactly why they are not being consulted or asked round the table.

I see Ally had learned nothing from the death threats received by the panel due to him asking 'Who are these people? I want to know who these people are' despite knowing exactly who they were.

I've said before, why do they not give an alternative when asked ? What is their definition of sporting intergrity ?

They have plenty to say but zero on this, nowt !

An absolute insult to the intelligence of any football fan that they would think anyone believes this drivel.

Chuckles and Ally have started to think they are god-like & untouchable at Ibrox with this attendance carry-on ~ Mrs E

I'm not sure about this but the SFL have a meeting to discuss the changes . Stop believing in what you shovel with no finesse of your predecessor Wattigan.

Anyone else think someone need to shut charly brown up? I think the guy is a disgrace to have as a owner, spittin the dummy out cause people have said no...now the new one is sexual discrimination towards rangers cause they are not allowed to join the Epl or another league! Using the womans game as an example, saying that the belgian and I think dutch league have joined together to form a better league for womans football...the guy isn't only bringing our game down to his level again but he's dragging other leagues ad now the womans football league is getting dragged into his nonsense! I really hope someone has a word with him as he is making himself look like a boob, and also making sevco and allison mccoist look like boobs...UEFA just need to sit him in his high chair put a bib on and say 'eat your dinner silly little man stop throwing a tantrum when you don't like something or get your own way'. For this I think sevco should defo start in the lowest tier again!

Quote from the court jester in today's daily the ranger

"I could join the Conference and I would be in a higher league than I'm in. It doesn't matter to me (which league Rangers are in), " he added.

Obviously it does .

I'm getting bored with this mans my club is bigger than your club ranting every day now . He also forgot to mention Celtic when he was talking about average att as I believe only Man you and arsenal have a higher attendance than Celtic (selective statistics syndrome ) . Why does he not take his team and join the N.I league I'm sure them and linfield will have great arguments about who is or was the most successesful team ever .

I'm not sure the conferance is a "bigger league then the 3rd" but if Rangers went to the conferance, I can't see them gaining 4 years of back to back promotions. Will bears really keep turning up to watch them struggle against Oxford United, Kidiminster, etc. It might take 10 years to get into the EPL and even then they might not stay there. Or if they did they might be more like to be at wigan, fulham or Norwich's level then Chelsea, Man you or Arsenal. Plus if they are in the EPL they would have to pay EPL wages.

Agree1 Disagree0

Aaaah Mrs E - surprised at that comment!! Don't you think its time to move on and not to drag up the past? Skeletons are better left in the cupboard don't you think? You make some interesting and poignant comments on the football side when you want so please stick to these..........

Ed I hope it's not true, but, I'm living down in Norwich and their daily news claim a deal agreed with Celtic for Hooper and he just needs to sign on for £30k a week.

If he is leaving to go to a relegation battle and for only 30k a week shows he will do anything to leave us.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Ok, go back to your own side, gary hooper has never stated he wants to leave us or will do anything to leave us.
It is obvious he wants to play in the EPL like anyone, but he won't "do anything to leave us" people should stop trying to turn us against one of our beter players!

He has no chance with the players mentioned. they were employed by the liquidated company. when a company goes into liquidation staff lose their jobs ori if a new company buys the assets they can be offered their old job back. eg: staff at comet told it will close jobs are going, currys buys over stores after comet goes bust, offers old comet staff same positions as before but working for currys. chuckles is keeping me amused, he is talking so much mince he does not know what is true and what is false

It will come as no surprise to anyone that Mark Hateley thinks that The rangers should be included in the reconstruction talks. It seems that it's absolutely vital that trust between the clubs is rebuilt.I wonder if Hateley thought about trust when Green was telling all and sundry how cash rich his NEW CLUB would be after shafting hundreds of creditors? Might a few clubs still have that in mind when it comes to The rangers? Now this new system is not without it's flaws, tried twice in Europe and scrapped, but this is a different country with a unique demographic. Can the Pro The rangers lobby not understand that? He questions, fairly, if the required amount of games can be completed on time given our strange weather, and the proposed split causes him concern. He then sends his argument spiralling into farce. He questions if clubs in the central group of the split can be trusted to "show discipline in the January transfer window not embark on a financial boom or bust in a desperate bid to reach the top flight" Err let me think, has any other club tried that and found themselves in over their heads, debt rising to unsustainable levels, hawking themselves to any buyer before liquidating? Rings a bell eh Mark? So if a rogue club did get into debt chasing the dream then the SFA and the rest have given them the golden ticket. Liquidate, buy your history and emerge debt free and free to join in any vote that the future might bring. As you say Mark"the goalposts have been moved so let The rangers into the talks". Right at the end of this nonsense the old arrogance and selective memory of The rangers surfaces." Rangers have taken their medicine for the pains of the past and are rebuilding to remain healthy for the future" is the kicker.Wrong Mark. The rangers said they would take their medicine but like a child being forced syrup of figs they have bitched and moaned at every opportunity!............green jhedi

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Believable4 Unbelievable2

This is a harsh reality, but norwich will pay him more than we can afford, and he will get more attention in england for a cap call up. man u, chelski, man c, arsenal and maybe spurs and liverpool are the only teams from england that could do what we've done this season, last 16 cl . i don't think he would get a game for any of them. if he goes to norwich then it's for money and recognition . sadly we can't compete with that . we get about £1.5m for winning spl . they get £30 odd million for being relegated { that's cl money } for failure . .. shammy

Hardly a step up in his career if it happens

Not content with stating they will not play in the SPL, now CG is threatening to pull the walking dead out of Scottish Football. The same Scottish Football who bent over backwards and stepped over a lot of ambitious clubs to get the admin amateurs into the the SFL. Great show of committment to the cause there Charlie Boy. Yes, they have every right to explore all possible avaenues to improve (as has every club in the world) but these things should be done in private. CG desperately needs to keep his wee boys club in the public domain to keep pushing the shares. (Not that all these stupid comments are an incentive to buy into them)
