Great fast performance yesterday, no weak links in our Bhoys and fantastic performance from O Burke . If we can continue in anything like this form, the treble treble is on .
Good to see Referees Compliance Officer has finally took up her position .
After our match yesterday, I don't think anyone was wasting much time discussing ref Walsh, which is a clear indication that he did OK.

😭😭 Gutted 5th minute of 4 mins injury time and a flapping Newcastle keeper just cost me my accumulator for £300 😭😭.

Hibs away in SC,

Hibs away in the cup, will be a tricky tie that. We will have to be at our best 🍀💚 HH.

11 Feb 2019 21:56:39
Only won once in our last six visits to easter road.
We are due another win.
Away to hearts in the league in the midweek then away to hibs in the cup so we will need to be at our best.

12 Feb 2019 14:16:17
No disrespect to Hibs or any other decent Scottish club, but if we can't beat Hibs at Easter Road we don't deserve the treble treble.

Looks like Bayo is coming into fitness and getting a bit game time with development squad?

ED, take it Boyata will leave end of season now?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think there was any doubt Boyata has been planning to leave for free in the summer.}

11 Feb 2019 20:40:55
Anyone seen anything about what Aaron Ramsey will be getting paid with juve. Apparently he'll be on £400k per week. That is absurd if it's true.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's sounds crazy but just quickly doing the maths in my head I'm not surprised, I'm sure teams were offering £40-50 million for him in the summer so under freedom of contract he's going to get a chunk of that.
Would anyone really be surprised if Boyata signed for someone for £80k or £100k a week, maybe even more?
It's crazy out there when it comes to money - one of the top agents in the world asked Real Madrid for over £14 million in fees for a deal for this coming summer for one of his players, an agent's getting paid more than we (Celtic) spend on transfer fees!}

11 Feb 2019 21:01:53
Honestly ed? 40-50 million for a player who had a great season about 6 seasons ago?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's just stuff in the back off my mind at the time from Ed002, Steph but it was there or there abouts give or take the odd 10 mill lol.}

11 Feb 2019 21:26:08
Crazy stuff.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Bonkers, and yet some fans want us to be involved at that level of skulduggery and financial shenanigans.}

12 Feb 2019 10:36:37
Well I would rather have my club around for another 100 odd years than spend silly money to be successful in the short term.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 12:52:36
Would that make him the highest paid footballer in Europe do u think? What would Messi and Ronaldo be on?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Nah, nowhere near it. £440k is £1.6 million a month, Messi gets £7.3 million p.m,, Ronaldo gets £4.1m, Griezzman £2.9m, Neymar £2.7m, Suarez, £2.5m, Bale £2.2m, Pip Couthino & Alexis Sanchez both get £2m p.m with Mbappe and Ozil both earning £1.5m per month.
That's just basic wages from their clubs, there'll be bonuses on top of that plus their image rights etc before we even add on any sponsorship deals players have.}

Ed reports coming fae Italy saying we bid around 8 million for that LB.
Do you think we will go back for him or try and sign her main Jeff instead?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It'll depend on the players' plans & wishes.}

11 Feb 2019 13:41:37
Aye a suppose ed.
Would think German Jeff would be ahead in pecking order if he's here settled and playing well.
Who is higher rated out both of them do you know?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'd say Castagne is the better player, Kev and he was Rodgers' first choice in January. We did try and sign Toljan permanently and if you remember as the window was ticking down I thought that it was the player stalling on it and maybe didn't want to commit to anything - is the 6 month loan maybe to see how the player likes playing/living in Scotland?
If Rodgers has to choose in the summer and Toljan fancies a permanent move I think he will take him over Castagne for the reasons you mention, he's settled etc.}

11 Feb 2019 13:50:33
Right back (Castagne) £8.7m was the reported bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 13:51:04
Well fair play to the club for having a real go if that's the case. If we could get him or Toljan in it would be great.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Didn't people we only got loans in because Rodgers is leaving in the summer because the board aren't backing him? 😉

11 Feb 2019 14:40:37
I think there's a few folk on here, particularly during windows, need to start mixing it with tobacco Ed.

11 Feb 2019 14:47:54
Either way it's encouraging that they are willing to spend big money on the defence.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 15:28:01
Your right Kev it is encouraging, we never seem to spend big on defenders for some reason. ( maybe when we bought Raphael scheidt) that put us off. 😂 but I’m glad if we are now looking to invest in the back line.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 16:25:12
I ain't that bothered by spending big. Spending wisely is more important in my opinion.
But the fact we are willing to spend means they can see we need extra quality in there.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 22:04:37
The price we pay is irrevelant . With EPL clubs prepared to give £20-£50m for average players we have to keep looking for talented young players who are prepared to come to Scotland for more realistic money . I cannot see much difference in a £5 - £7m player and a player around £2 m, as the English clubs have wrecked the market.

WIth mulumbo in the press today, saying Ryan Christie kept him out the side and steve Clarke saying you knew he was back when he tipped up late for training (and was lacklustre) - is the why he didn't get more game time? Ie poor attitude in training or was he simply a stop gap due to injury who doesn't have enough quality?

Good to see him saying he wants to come back and fight for his place though.

With ryan Christie applying himself non stop during his loan and since his return, it would be tough for anyone to push him out the side.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

11 Feb 2019 09:25:36
I honestly think it was more McGregor surprising everyone with how well he adapted to his new roll that kept mulumbu out.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 14:26:35
I read somewhere that S Clarke knew Mulumbo was back at Killie as he saw him arrive late for training. His tardiness wouldn't impress Brendan and certainly could well have played a major part of him not playing much .
Just imagine how angry Brendan would be if we paid £6-8m for a player always arriving at last minute and beyond it . Just another detail that has to be checked before buying . New player has to fit into squad seemlesssly.

So we've broken the previous record for the number of consecutive wins in the SC. Another one bites the dust. Have we still got a problem with recruitment?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Feb 2019 08:58:12
Sometimes, yes.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 09:41:15
Last summer was a shocking window, but it seems a million miles away after one of the busiest January transfer periods I can remember, since these 'windows' started.
There's no doubt the additions have given us a huge boost in quality and confidence with a run of seven wins, 21 goals scored and none conceded and there's a healthy competition for places (even allowing for a horrendous string of injuries) , keeping everyone on their toes.
The goalkeeping switch to Bain has worked very well and the resurgence of Broony to top form after that period of uncertainty has been magnificent.

Loan signings are sometimes a gamble and are a temporary solution to personnel and quality deficiencies, but while we have such a huge, expensive squad eating up financial resources, it was the only sensible option at this time and so far it looks like a master-stroke, with maybe options to extend and a great way to build positive relations with other clubs for future ventures.

11 Feb 2019 18:11:16
Ok, so we’ve done a double treble which nobody has ever done before, we’re on our way to a treble treble which blows our own double treble out the water and we’ve broken the run of cup wins that was set by oldco with their overspending and EBTs you guys think you could do it better?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 20:10:47
COYBIG you're being ridiculous. You asked if there was a problem with recruitment, to which the answer was yes. Then you start accusing people of thinking they could personally do better than a treble treble? On what planet does that make sense? There are clearly problems with our recruitment at times considering we've recently signed Compper, Hendry, Gamboa, Mulumbu, de Vries, Allan.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Feb 2019 21:51:18
It was a rhetorical question. I didn’t expect anyone to come back and say ‘yes’. On what planet does it make sense to question the recruitment of a club who is going through one it’s most successful periods in it’s history? That wasn’t a rhetorical question but I’ll answer it for you. It makes sense in the world of some nerd who spends most of his time playing PlayStation games and thinks he knows the ins and outs of the transfer market as a result. The fact that we’ve signed Comper, Hendry, Gamboa, Mulumbu, De Vries and Allan absolutely does not ‘clearly show’ there are problems with recruitment, even if you were to include the word ‘fact’ afterwards. Most successful clubs have big squads and most of them don’t play because you can only put 11 players on the pitch at a time. That’s why the bigger or wealthier clubs loan players out which is why we’ve got Weah, Toljen, Benkovic, Burke etc. We will seek to loan a few of our players out to give them game time in the hope that they come back ready to play first team football. If you are of the opinion that we have a recruitment problem, then logically you must have an opinion on what we are doing wrong and how we should change it to improve, therefore by default, you must think you could do better.
