On this Remembrance Sunday I was glad to see no headlines about our fans and the poppy controversy.
Most of the regulars on here will know that I am fiercely proud of my Irish ancestry, but myself and our family, including teenage girls all proudly wear a poppy, simply out of respect and to remember family members and friends who gave their lives for their country.
That is our choice, and I leave it up to other Celtic supporters, and other club's fans, to wear the poppy or not. We have this choice because of the sacrifice others made.
For all of you like my family that have lost loved ones, I will include you in my prayers. Timalloy

Timalloy like you I am proud to wear a poppy, I was disappointed whilst in Amsterdam to hear some Celtic supporter's from Ireland singing " you can stick your f------ Poppy up your a---, now I have read all the thing's that have happened in N.I. but surely we can respect the dead.
Tambhoy {Ed007's Note - It's not used to respect the dead though Tam, it has been hijacked to use as a weapon to justify illegal wars throughout the world. The brave men and women who died in the World Wars will be spinning in their grave to see what the symbol has become a metaphor for. Poppy sales are down over the last two years and will continue to do so while they are seen as a symbol of jingoistic warmongering.
I'm sure the brave men who died fighting against Fascism, Nazism and Communism are SO proud to see serving soldiers give Nazi salutes with a Union Flag in the back ground. These men and women died to allow us to have free choice and free thought, if you want to wear a poppy then by all means do, just don't let people browbeat you into thinking if you don't you are Anti-British or some sort of militant lunatic.
Hopefully over the next few years we will see a rise in sales of white poppies to promote peace.
Shouldn't the government be paying for injured soldiers care? After all it is because of them we enter wars/conflicts.
What charity helps out normal men and women who are injured at work?}

ED 007 You are entitled to your opinion ed, if that is what you feel, I am not going to argue the point, I wear my poppy because my wife's 2 uncle's were killed in the war, also many Celtic supporters died, I wear it to honour all of the dead because of war. I just feel all should be respected. I do agree there should be white poppie's, so the people at the top know, ordinary working class people don't want war and they are mostly the people who suffer.
Tambhoy {Ed007's Note - I respect your decision 100% Tam. That's my point though. It's YOUR decision, just like the millions who wear them and the millions who don't, we live in a democratic society where we are (or should be) allowed to make these choices.
There is no right or wrong, there is only personal choice and both deserve to have their opinion respected by others.}

Agree0 Disagree0

No one should say anything negative about the red poppy or Remembrance Sunday. It's completely inappropriate and disrespectful to the fallen. A football club such as Celtic, supporters blogs, banter sites are also inappropriate outlets for such offensive political views. Keep your political views away from sport and our club. {Ed007's Note - It's nice to read a sensible post agreeing that football teams shouldn't be forced to wear poppies on their strips or feel that they must hold a minutes silence and that it should all come down to personal choice and opinion.
Football stadiums are not appropriate outlets for offensive political views or matters, I whole heartedly agree with you there as well, but that must cover ALL offensive political views.
There's hope for you yet, you have obviously put a lot of thought into your post and it's refreshing to read that intelligent people are starting to see it as the hijacked farce it has become. Well said mate.
Every year this rubbish over poppies is dragged up, whilst there are foodbanks in Scotland where young children need to go to get food in their mouth we are arguing over whether people wear a bit of paper on their lapel. Not one single soldier past or present wouldn't rather see a young kid fed in their memory/honour than see people wearing a poppy.
It's about time people got their priorities right and done more to help those closer to their own home.
How many people reading this have knocked on an OAP neighbour's door to see if they need anything at the shop, or handed them in a pot of home-made soup to make sure they have something warm to eat.
The best charity work you will ever do is the charity work you don't crave plaudits for doing.}

Ed007, I hope we keep our better players, we talk about the inability to attract better quality to celtic park, in your opinion do you think that will change when rangers are back, p lawwell and co will be relishing the prospect of this, also some of the missing support, I wo'nt guess what percentage will also return, if they survive and if they get by hearts or whoever drops down I hear some of you scream . They will be back, stronger, less debt and no conscience. I also think they will get substantial backing once the shambles is sorted .The pukki saga., if we start scoring goals from other players it might take the pressure off the boy . {Ed007's Note - The time to buy was in the summer IMO, forget The Rangers/Sevco/Newclub, they are, and will be, insignificant for years to come. I'm delighted to see NL talking about the wage structure needing revised, I have said this for the last 2/3 years. The wages we pay is a bigger stumbling block than transfer fees we can afford.}

Ed007, I'll bow to your better judgement on the rangers scenario, we tend to have the same views on most other things, I'm having problems with my android,, I have been responding to posters replies to me and the posts do'nt to seem to have come through, jj, chrisbhoy sorry about this cheers, also keeps logging off. Off topic I wonder who the tv pundits will be when bt take control hopefully with a bit more backbone . {Ed007's Note - Try using the 'Alternative Reply' button, that sometimes helps with people having trouble posting/replying.}

Well that was a decent performance yesterday for me.I thought the guys who came in done themselves no harm. Young Fisher, who is looking like a real find, has opened the door for himself with some really good solid displays.His cross for the goal was a great example of determination and no little ability. Could this be a chance to experiment with Lustig ahead of him? A handy option with unlucky Matthews out injured.

I also thought Biton had a decent game. It is clear he is still settling in and learning how his team mates play, but he was tidy and always looked to pass. He may turn out to be a force if he can up his game when he is fully integrated to the squad. It was also nice to see Ledley look like his old self. Like Biton he kept things pretty simple and played his way into the game.The added bonus with Joe is if he is on it yesterdays type of goals are always possible.

Pukki. Seems to be a few posters writing him off.I think he still needs time, but he needs a goal sooner.You can clearly see he is a clever player, some of his movement is first class, but we need a player to raise his head and spot him.He also is not an out and out striker in the Hooper mould, some people seem to think this is the case and are comparing the two.Hopefully he will score soon and adjust to a different style, but he did some good link up work yesterday.

Finally, and I hate myself for this, James Forrest. I have been critical of him a few times on here.Nothing I have said about him is connected to his ability, he has got a talent, it is more on his progression.Since Lenny spotted him and brought him into the squad he seems to have gone backward.When he first came in he was bursting past defenders and crossing, or shooting after cutting inside.All in all a real handful for any full back.After being told he was now fully fit, for the first time in a while, I expected him to really kick on.The fact he has not, now worries me slightly.

well summed up mate. and just a we point for all the pukki haters out there at the moment. and a point in general so please all leave your thoughts

soldado cost 25 mill or whatever it is but the similarities in his play and pukki are near identical. he has scored 4 goals of which 3 has been penalties. spurs fans aren't on his back the way we are on pukkis are they?

its all about the service! and after just watching spurs play they are the same as us. very predictable and needing to play two up front. great defence and not enough goals. remind you on another team?

Kieran Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Kieran,, I think pukki haters is a bit extreme, the problem is I and many others maybe inluding you? don't know where this bhoys natural position in the team is yet, he doesn't look a penalty box poacher or a natual goalscorer I don't even think he looks a natural striker of any sort yet, so where does he fit in, he was also brought in late in the window so I doubt he was first or even second choice so have we taking him just for the sake of buying a player? we needed someone to come in who was a recognised and regular goalscorer and pukki hasn't filled this role yet whether he can (and hopefully he will) remains to be seen, I don't watch spurs or care what they think of soldado its what puuki isn't doing at the moment is what concerns me and 4 goals pens or not is better than 2,,,, deep river bhoy {Ed007's Note - I think Pukki and Stokes are too similar to play in the same team in a 4-4-2, maybe in a 4-2-3-1 but to play that you need a quality striker up front, sadly we don't have one of those.

Lustig/Matthews-----van Dijk--------Ambrose----Izaiguirre/Mulgrew----

ED007: Nail on the head regarding a position for Pukki mate. 4-2-3-1 would be my shape all season.A good hold up man and Pukki and Stokes moving in from wide of the three. The key is the play maker to sit in the middle of the three.

Agree0 Disagree0

Iam not a pukki hater, I just don't think he's the replacement striker we were lead to believe he was when he was signed, and if not why sign him? Also as I've said before he spends a lot of the time on his backside or being knocked over too easily. I would honestly cut our loses with him in jan if we could, its only my opinion. I don't hate him but I don't rate him i'd rather Atajic/Balde got some game time, ., .kbarry

to be honest with you aswel I would rather balde starting or atajic before him if we continue to play one up front. pukki and balde will score goals if paired together
also pukki haters was a harsh way of putting it but the lad will come good when the service is good and when we start and play good

Listened to Snyde today. Dunno why as I urged everyone a couple of months ago to bodyswerve them as their panel/host are so biased and bitter. Anyways, I think it was because I was in work and it was either listen to that or the BBC. nuf said. Gordon Dalziel said today that Ledley was not interested and I quote "I think he might have spat the dummy for some reason". What do you base this on ya muppet? Anyone seen how he and Lenny celebrated today. Two goals from a man that's no interested?? Dalziel is a cheap option to have on the panel. Cheap station, cheap show.

Davie Blantyre Bhoy I watched the game on tv and thought we played well and were dominant for 90 mins.My daughter who was out shopping phoned me and asked what was wrong with the team, for when she turned the radio on those on snyde as you call them said celtic were woeful and that the game could go anyway.I stopped listening to snyde three years ago because of how you describe them biased and bitter.jimbhoy

Alan Roughs show was much better before fat derek joined, reckon it was canned because it wasnt bias towards them, ., .kbarry
