I wonder are Celtic the only team in Scotland to have won all their 2.30pm kick offs.

Really enjoyed the game today. 2 teams going toe to toe. And the ref helped by keeping his distance. Ronny deila has said all season we WILL win the league. Vvd and Scott brown said today we were the best team and desrved it. Love the confidence. We are the biggest and best team in the country so why should we be modest and apologise for that. We have lived within our means and are enjoying the benefits so let's enjoy it. Hail hail and well done the champions

I honesty thought some of the Aberdeen players were thugs and the referee let them away with too much. Don players fouled frequently even after they were booked . They also got away with a blatant stamping .

Chris as usual you open your mouth and let your belly rumble. Today's game was competitive, both teams wanted to put down a marker. The aberdeen player Logan was on the end of a few tasty ones from the Bhoys in green.

Sack the board , you do post nonsense , how do you know when or where I open my mouth . I saw several Aberdeen players putting in ( not tasty tackles ) which is another stupid comment , as I don't think your taste buds were near them , but thuggish tackles which could easily have injured Celtic players . I would be more concerned about Celtic players sustaining injuries than someone called Logan .
I am not forgetting that a don deliberately stamped on a Celtic player as well.

I didn't realise , sack the board. , that your concern for an Aberdeen player exceeded your concerns for Celtic players . Celtic are lucky to have you as a supporter .

The blatant stamp on Johansen. it was shocking and intentional. we all know why the player wasn't penalised.

Didn't know that result mate. But that is fantastic. Andy Murray has nothing but my respect. To sacrifice so much to reach the pinnacle of your profession deserves nothing but respect. But there will always be people who compare him to Novak or fed or samp. Guys who are on another level. Andy isn't the greatest ever but he is one of the greats,

Don't know what everyone,s thoughts are on this, but I'm pi##ed off with all the praise towards aberdeen regarding this season, you would think we just pipped them to become champions.Played 4 won 4 9-2 on aggregate 14 points clear ,yet all the praise goes to them.I will make a forecast now they won't be any closer to us next season.Well done CELTIC.killy.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

10 May 2015 20:04:04
If we progress as we have done the you are spot on at least 20 points next season.

We have slipped up in several places this year that I believe we will not next year.

I don't begrudge Aberdeen a bit of praise for the season they have had, Celtic thoroughly deserved the title, but Aberdeen have been very consistent all season, with limited resources.
I also think that it's one in the eye for all those journalists who kept telling us that it's vital to get sevco back, as in their expert opinion, nobody else is capable of challenging us, I think it shows that given time other clubs will step up, and are capable of giving us a challenge.
I still expect us to dominate again next season, but I think it's only fair to say that Aberdeen have done well.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 May 2015 22:14:40
Aberdeen have done this year what I would expect some team in Scotland to be capable of doing each year . What I am trying to say the like of Aberdeen should be able to mount some sort of a challenge one year and say Dundee Utd the next . I would praise Aberdeen if they could provide this type of challenge every year , but I think it is a once off this season .
I would expect Celtic to be about 6 points further on by this stage , challenging for 100 points , I think Deila will attain 100 points or there abouts in future years .

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2015 22:20:16
I don't see the big fuss about points difference. Celtic has no part to play in how other teams play against competitors

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2015 23:36:57
If it wasn't for the Aberdeen goalie it would have been a far wider margin - like the 4-0 at Celtic Park.
Over the season Aberdeen have obviously surpassed expectation and have more points than everyone expected.
Aberdeen never won a trophy and failed miserably in the head-to-head meetings, however, it's easier for the anti-Celtic media to go OTT with their praise and commiserations for them than to - God forbid - praise Celtic.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 May 2015 16:56:35
DN30. I think what some of them are doing is highlighting the number of points Deila dropped . These mostly came at the start of the season when Deila was trying to get to know his players and his players were trying to get use to his ways .
However DN30 we appreciate the magnitude of the job Deila has done .

Agree0 Disagree0

one other thing

I think it will only be when VVD goes that we realise just how good he is and how much we will miss the big man

He might not be the finished article but there are no defenders in Europe that are the finished article

We are fortunate to have him and I hope when it comes to kick off in 15/16 we still have him . get Danny Wilson in and we will take it from there

Come on over to my place.hey you .we're having a party

Believable0 Unbelievable3

10 May 2015 18:24:39
Paradisewon there aren't too many of the team who played today that we wouldn't miss . Of course Virgil is a very special centre half but he still makes mistakes. , he swung his leg widely at a ball today , luckily he missed or he could have scored a spectatular own goal. What I like about us now , if one or two are not fully on their game others seem to step in and help him out .

If the goal was scored in the EPL , by an English player , can we imagine the coverage on match of the day and the superb play by Brown winning the ball on his own 18 yard line and been up to within 3yds of the Dons goal to finish off the move .

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2015 20:43:13
We'll miss Virgil incredibly. There aren't many centre backs in HISTORY capable of what he can do. Then there's the question as to how we would reinvest. Can't see us bringing in a fitting replacement straight away and anybody that does come in may need a season or two to develop. VVD is exceptional though. But Danny Wilson? Really?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2015 22:19:49
Not many of us didn't knowVirgil when we signed him for approx . £2.5m . I expect we will invest something similar in a replacement and if we do wisely we should be ok .
I think if the players we sign adopt to Deila's mentoring we should be ok for next season . We won't be buying star players but we can buy players who will play well for us .

Hello fellow bhoys and ghirls

Good win today; decent intensity. Few things however to ponder

(1) Celtic really need to become more effective in extra man situations during breakaways; we are totally useless and wasteful at putting the right player in the right position in front of goal when we have a man advantage (on the counter)

(2) RD JC and JK need to spend a few weeks with big Nir Biton and teach him the basics on basic (basic!) passing. His pass completion statistics today must have broken new records

(3) Griffiths was far too isolated today and we had no width; we basically invited a "battle" and we got one. Thought both centre halves stood up to it well

A good win but border line deserved

the KEY has to be to improve ball retention and to make the most of counter attacks when they develop

10 May 2015 18:10:04
Did u watch it mate? Everythin paradise says is spot on! Griffiths was feeding off scraps all day! Think I seen izzy cross it once in the 85th min! when does that ever happen? Hence why paradise said we had no width! And not just bitton who could do with a lesson in passing! There was some woeful passin out there today! And before anyone says Weve won the double and how can I be on moanin,it's not a moan at all just sayin what I see! I'm not just thinkin about today,I'm lookin ahead to the CL qualifiers and poor passing and lack of cutting edge will surely cost us dearly!

We had so many clear cut chances today, it was unreal. Aberdeen huffed and puffed but only created one good chance which was headed wide .
Scot Brown was Celtic's best player and funny enough Scot Brown was the Don's best player .

Paradise won I can't see where your coming from with point 1. Usually we dominate games so break aways aren't really our concern. Or point 2 the 3 coaches you mention have converted biton from a non event to imo a future big money sale. Totally agree with point 3. Yes we play with 3 supporting midfielders but to see celtic play one up front is not what I want. We all slated the zombies for doing it so why are we.

Did izzy get up and down the wing and put crosses in today? U asked paradise if he seen the game! Think it was you who missed it mate! The season is almost over , the league is won and I think Deila was correct in trying something a little bit different . Delia I think had us playing a formation which we might have to use in Champions Leagues qualifying games especially away from home . I think in games like that our main striker won't have the same number of colleagues playing up close to him .
I think Deila will be pleased with the number of clear -cut chances created on the break, not with the conversion rate .

I have a feeling that there posters around ready to stick their oar in , if they thought that they would get away with finding fault with our manager .

Totally agree with the points Paradise won is making. I think that Biton in particular was in holiday mode. His distribution was shocking. Everyone else seemed just to be going through the motions except Brown. I would pay the entrance fee just to watch him. His fitness level is immense.

I don't know if anyone else noticed some of the players going down with cramp. Fisher Biton and VVD. What's all that about it was hardly a high intensity game.

Well that's got to be one of the worst halfs of football I've seen in a while! It's just not workin with griffiths up front on his own! I'm a big fan of commons but he's been no were near it today! The only player who's looked up for it is johanssen! Young fishers tried to.really hoped we would go out and show why we're champions today! Hope the 2nd half performance is a hell of a lot better than the 1st!

Most of the team are on holiday mode, while the mutton molesters are bursting a gut and leaving the boot in as if it's a Cup Final. I realise the league is done and dusted, but this is our fiercest rivals and we need to keep them in their place and emphasise our domestic dominance.
We have too many passengers today and a few with a 'soft centre' that don't want to know when the tackles fly in.
Can't leave it there, until I give and Neil McCann my special customary mention .GIRFUY

First of all an apology from me, I forgot to post my tip regarding Bayern Munich (they lost again yesterday) they seem to have downed tools so some good opportunities to make some cash. Now to my main point, it is good going to Pittodrie with nothing at stake except pride, always a difficult venue for Celtic but with tension lifted on both sides, I am hoping for, and indeed expect an open game, so my bets today are both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in match (bigger odds available if you take Celtic win and BTTS)

Believable1 Unbelievable9

10 May 2015 12:32:11
Celtic to win and both to score? sound good. I do not really bet much but one thing I think is nuts is this over 2.5 goals? why not say 3 goals or more? you can't get half a goal!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2015 13:10:04
@CMac I agree it sounds daft, it is to do with how all the bookmakers calculate these type of things, maybe any mathemician on here can explain why and how they calculate goals this way.

10 May 2015 08:49:54
Ed, have they done away with the obstruction rule? I get sick of players deliberately blocking a player from getting near the ball while they 'shield' it and guard it out of play. That to me is using your body to prevent an opponent getting fair access. You are not allowed to tackle from behind so the 'shielding' player can't lose. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I whine about this every game, I was always told never to shield the ball out of play as it would be obstruction and it was too much of a risk. It was always about dealing with it, put it out of play, make a pass, whatever, just don't shield it. Seems the obstruction rule never applies any more and I have no idea why as it is still in the laws of the game. It is an odd one. But then there are a number of things a goalkeeper gets away with that are fouls as well, but never ever given, such as jumping with their knee up to 'protect' themselves. It just seems refs do not apply the spirit of the laws any more. It is certainly not within the spirit for a player to just shield a ball out of play with no intention to play it.}

10 May 2015 09:34:10
Think that all the time Tiny! That scenario and not seeing more indirect freekicks for handballs in the box are my two biggest narks with refereeing, bar incompetence and inconsistency. Guilty of it myself 'shielding' a ball out of play but only having grown up watching it. Given that as you say the defender often has no intention of playing the ball, which surely is obstruction, it seems there was some sort of shift in the rules that was passed under the table at some point.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2015 12:09:23
There always seems a difference to me, in what a defender can get away with, and what a striker can do.
When you have a corner for example, the goalkeeper can seem to push the striker about, and sometimes seems to be pulling the shirt off his back, yet no foul ever seems to be given, yet if a striker even goes near a defender, the referee can't seem to give a free kick quickly enough.
I don't really want to see penalties given every time the ball goes in the box, but why can't referees cut the same slack to the strikers, as they do to the defenders? .

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - do you not think that a couple of weeks of giving pens every time a defender pulls a shirt would cut it out? Defenders aren't going to pull shirts if it results in a penalty every time, they would learn quickly enough not to do it. That would be better than cutting strikers slack as well surely?}

11 May 2015 17:31:59
Was watching Juventus v Real and some of the stuff going on in the box was an utter joke

Evening Ed, A remember reading a while back am sure and just wondering if you know that the English championship have a different rule from the EPL in that the owner of a club is NOT allowed to have an INTEREST in any other club given the Zero Contract Zero Calorie paymaster of Newcastle are a perilous point ( a think ) of off the relegation bottom 3 with an inferior goal difference just wondering if the sevco saga could take another twist?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's unlikely, St Mike of the Methadome has enough financial clout to ride it out according to Ed002.}

10 May 2015 03:16:43
Correct me if i'm wrong. But Ashley only has rights to naming, merchandise etc as opposed to stakes in the company? I have an interest as NUFC are my second team. Not that they'll go down of course. But as i'm told, and the sooner the better in ways, MA will be jumping ship to Sevco as soon as they reach SPFL.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he still has shares in Rangers for now. He was blocked from increasing his shareholding, but he still has a small one. As for jumping ship to them, it is more likely he sells both and buys elsewhere.}

10 May 2015 09:28:14
Cheers Ed#1. there's a general consensus in Newcastle that he will become Rangers 'owner'. I'd also been 'reliably informed' of this from somebody speaking to Lambias. I'll happily take your word though as I'd imagine you're more informed than most.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was interested in owning both, he can certainly afford to, but he was blocked from doing so. It is all about money for him, Newcastle makes more profit, so I very much doubt he would dump that for Rangers. It is more likely he would look to buy an even more profitable, possibly, club, and divest himself of both Rangers and Newcastle.}

10 May 2015 11:50:21
I had actually read from a financial paper that his intention was to exit Newcastle by 2016 that was the business plan.

The championship beaks are not as soft as ours and you just need to look at what they did to the potential Leeds take over and rejection of the Birmingham chairman etc IMO they would probably give him a year to dispose of one or the other interests and he is another that would probably just "ride it out" to see if he could Newcastle back up in a season in the event obviously they got relegated

Don't think he would be able to sell them as a championship club IMO In saying that he would probably have to give the Sevco shares away!

Still think he has about just under 10% stake JT, a never thought he had any intention of "re-naming" the stadium a actually thought he would sell that right on he got the rights for a £1 ( a wonder if it was the same pound wee googly eyes paid for the place lmao) Only for Charles Green to realise the full value of them after BT paid the SRU £20 MILLION to rename Murrayfield FFS! Green then became a laughing stock spending a quarter of a million in legal fees trying to get back something he sold for a £1 to no avail :-)
