Aye he could've walked but I guess the ref thought the tackle would've been a harsh 2nd yellow seeing as it was his first foul (barring the dissent earlier) and it was half-way line ish so not really a goalscoring opportunity or anything or really a terrible challenge in truth (but IMO probably a yellow normally as it was a bit late). I think if he was sent off though it would've been harsh so lose-lose really for the guy.

Thought the ref had a pretty good game though overall to be honest. Kept the peace between the sides really well... most El classico's have flared up big time in the last couple of seasons. Leaving Messi on the park probably helped as if he'd been sent off Alves and Pique (in particular) might've been pretty keen to rip one or two of the Real Madrid players a new one leading to the thing getting out of control.

well well another day down and another 3 points. Albeit not in an entirley convincing fasion. would like to see the penalty incident again, but Forster showed that he can actually dive for a ball!! so even if there was a bit of a poor decision it didnt come to anything, Im sure if they had scored i would be here saying it was deffo a poor decision by the ref lol.

But the most amusing thing i found today was this xmas album released by the Gers. Dunno how i missed this earlier in the week. Fair enough its for charity and a good cause at that! but deary me has to be the cheesiest thing i have ever seen in my life. I might go and buy me a copy just for a listen. although i have a feeling if i do that it will be me that needs the proceeds from the charity to recover! Surley they would have raised more money by saing please donate x amount to charity and we wont go ahead with our plans to release an album!

Anyways i digress

Glad for the three points from the hooped ones today against a very dogged and determined hearts team today, was quite impressed with their attitude through the game, less so than our own at times, but i feel we did dominate large spells with actually creating any real chances which was a disappointment. Gotta say a big well done to Mr Wanyama for his goal was very well taken and showed me why he probably should have been young player of the month. Keep it up young sir!

Yeah agreed. Don't think we can put it entirely down to us being rotten - Hearts defended very well - but then I don't think we were ever in top form either. For them I thought their centre backs and Driver (when he came on) played really well while I don't think any of our players had a great day at the office, Wanyama included, especially early on. Cracking save by Forster though - won us a crucial 3 points. Genuinely chuffed for the guy as it'll give him a huge confidence boost.

I've a feeling we'll make a move for a couple of their players in January, even if we don't end up getting them. Lennon rarely praises and names opposition players. Named 2 or 3 in his post-match interview. One was Zaliukas who I reckon would be a good signing if we can get him on the cheap as he's as good as anything we have at the moment, perhaps bar K. Wilson. IMO he's prone to a rash challenge or two but if he can ease that sort of thing out of his game he'd be a very shrewd signing.

Are they for real? "Silent night, rankers night", "hark the rankers fans all sing", "we wish you a rankers christmas". What's next begging in Sauchiehall Street, Busking?

Going to Celtic Park today with a bit of a hangover was not a good idea...shivered the whole 90mins with nerves ! Can't believe the penalty save, absolutely superb. Mrs E

How did Celtic play today Mrs E? I was over at Easter Road today and I was shivering aswell. But it was with the freezing conditions not the alcohol lol. They were not much to shout about in the first half better in the 2nd half. The way I look at it 3 points is all that matters. If we play good football aswell that's a bonus.

Ed I don't know if you watched the game today? What happened with McCoist and the Hibs fans? They were talk on the bus on the way back that a Hibs fan went to attack McCoist is that true?
I'm just going to chill out and watch Real Madrid pump Barca. They are due a win over them plus I've got the two of them on a coupon to score.

It was very frustrating, gave the ball away too easily for my liking. Hearts to their credit considering the circumstances, chased everything.. couple of fouls on Forrest think to keep him in check. Cracker of a goal from Wanyama...proving to be a real find ! Last 15 mins felt like 15 hours & the save phew..

I need Barca & Real Madrid to score as well - Mrs E

Wanyama what's your name? Wanyama what's your name? Lol brilliant big man. Good result. I miss the penalty but well done to big fraizer not his biggest fan but well done. Thought cha had a good game, wee jamesy was poor but hay we got the 3points and I'd say fat ally was dancing around the room when he heard hearts got a penalty lol and Ian black should join rangers hes their type of player. Well done bhoys. Bigirishmac.

Disagree about Forrest. Sure he did not set the heather on fire but he never hid and kept plodding away. Agree with the rest though.

if adam matthews doesnt make todays game that means every outfield player has been out with an injury this season and all before christmas , i can never remember anything like this before
