Are they clowns down south obsessed with Celtic? Every time I have a browse on the good old internet there is always a clown going on about how Celtic wouldn't last a season in there wonderful amazing top notch league! It's pathetic, I wonder if Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord of Holland and Anderlecht, Standard Liege and Gent/ Genk of Belgium get this rubbish from the German Bunesliga with there countries being so close? Clowns!

Believable0 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - how often have any of those other teams tried to join the English leagues? I think you will find never, so why would anyone mention that? The point is that Celtic repeatedly and continually make overtures towards joining the English leagues, so you get people wondering how they would get on if they did so. If you are going to label people clowns for being obsessed with Celtic, would that make Celtic as a whole a bunch of clowns for their obsession with joining the English leagues?}

Ed he mentioned those other teams in terms of the Bundesliga, not the English leagues.

{Ed001's Note - I meant to say the Bundesliga, it was just an error on my part, apologies. Still a moronic post.}

It's all just speculation and opinion though as we aren't in that league with the financial clout that goes with it. But if you go on air and say " yeah they would probably finish mid table or thereabout" no one would care. The ones who come out and say "they would plummet to league 1 because they are crap" know it will draw more attention whether it's true or not. I think most people being objective would agree we would be able to compete if we woke up tomorrow in the EPL.

The English show the same arrogance to everything.
Their fans chant about the second world war and how they won it, they're too thick to realise that Scots and Welsh people fought against Fascism as well, they also seem to forget that the war was only won because America entered the conflict, Europe would probably have been defeated otherwise.
They show exactly the same arrogance regarding football, they forever tell us that theirs is the best league in the world without the slightest evidence to back it up. Arsenal lost 10-2 to Bayern Munich, and big spending Man City lost to a small French side, after having all that money to spend and seeing the result of it, I think it does make these clubs look like clowns.
I personally couldn't care less about Celtic playing in England, but I don't get how the arguments against Celtic joining the English Leagues don't seem to apply to Welsh clubs, after all they have their own FA, they have their own league, and their league gives them a route into the Champions league, how does this differ from Scotland, yet Welsh clubs have been able to opt out of their own league and play in the English leagues.
I wish some of the so called experts in England would explain why, if such Football giants such as Bournemouth, Watford, and Crystal Palace can survive in the Premier league, then why a club of our size and appeal couldn't.

{Ed001's Note - not getting to get into your false claims about WW2, though the war was won because of Russia, not the USA. However, the reason Wales is different is simple, they never had their own league system until after their teams had been playing as part of the English leagues for a long time. None of their teams had their own league, which (if you want to talk about arrogance that defo applies in this case to Celtic) they then decided they were 'too big' for, so wanted to join a 'bigger' league.}

The "Celtic in the Premier League" chat is pretty pointless because there's no real desire to make it happen from anybody who matters enough. Personally I think the current team would be good enough to survive and with a few seasons of that sort of money would be able to establish ourselves as a top 10 team pushing for Europe. My basis for this is that I don't think we would have lost guys like VVD, Forster and Wanyama to Southampton, who have finished 9th and 6th the past 2 seasons, if we could have offered them the same league exposure. Another example is Arnautovic who chose Stoke over Celtic because he wanted to play in the Premier League. Would he have chosen Stoke over us if we were in the same league? I doubt it, and he went on to hit double figures last season so we could definitely attract good players and do well. The folk who dismiss us as certainties for relegation display ignorance but the folk who see us as top 4 or 6 after a couple of seasons are also kidding themselves on.

We all know the EPL is the most overhyped league on the planet. It avails itself of the best marketing job money can buy. I personally think the quality has been getting steadily poorer for the last 5+ seasons. The majority of world class players are now playing in Spain, or at Bayern Munich.

When player's like John Stones go for £47.5m then it tells you all you need to know about the detachment from reality. He couldn't defend a fart with a naked flame but good luck to him though.

The people running the league are doing something right as the investment they attract is astounding, given the quality on offer. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it but then again many will say that about us and our league.

I honestly couldn't care less about joining it. I really don't see it happening anyway as there are so many obstacles.

on the 25th may it will be the 50th anniversary of how we showed england and the rest of the world how to win the european cup by playing a brand of attacking football the world had never seen before, while the so called big english teams sat back and marvelled at our style, who cares if the epl don't want us? we know the size of our club, if we played in the epl we would need to add another 20,000 seats to cope with the demand.

Let's keep it that way HH.

Got to agree with you James, the demand for tickets would be fierce. A redeveloped South Stand would up the capacity to over 75,000 and every seat would be sold for every home game.
The EPL is the most overhyped league in the world. Sky and BT went nuts to secure the rights to what is normally piss poor football. I can't remember the last time I seen a really decent game.
I think we need to look beyond England. A couple of European leagues look to be the next step that teams like Celtic could hope for. There's no way we are getting straight to any big league with your Real Madrids or Man Uniteds but a secondary league could be within our capabilities. TV could dictate who gets a place in these superleagues.

Apparently Celtic would be relegated from the national league if they played in England. Opinions like that make me wish we did play in England just to prove a point. I think the real reason Celtic will never get that opportunity is because the English are scared of Celtic's potential. It would be criminal if a Scottish team won the overhyped English Premiership. I personally think Celtic would be mid to low table with the current squad. But could you imagine the possibilities if Celtic got the Sky money, Kit and sponsorship deals as well as stadium naming rights as the big 4 get. Throw in the revenue with their kind of ticket prices too and we become one of the financial top 4 in the space of a few years.

{Ed007's Note - What we need is Dermot to get 4 of his cronies to stump up £20 million a year along with him and we're jamming!}
