Ed do you know if there's any substance to today's reports that we're looking to bring Ross McCormack to the club in the summer?

{Ed007's Note - As far as I know it seems to be just a made up story mate. He'll be 29 in August and that in itself makes me suspect there's nothing in it. Only last month RD spoke of wanting to bring in younger players and both him and the scouts spent the recent international break at mostly Under-21 games.
I just don't see where McCormack would fit in if you listen to RD and his ideas. What do you reckon?}

Agree with you 100% on the age subject Ed, the only thing I thought might have given this story a bit of weight was that RD is keen to sign Scottish players! My own opinion is I think McCormack is a decent player but not really what we need in terms of fitting into RD's system

{Ed007's Note - I thought the exact same thing as well, the only box McCormack ticks is that he's Scottish. He's contracted to Fulham till 2018 with an option of another year as well so Fulham will be looking to recoup as much of their £11 million as they can, and if you're paying £11m for a player you're paying him an £11m players wage. I've not got anything about his wages but he'll be on a lot more than £20k a week I'd imagine.}

McCormack for 11m, to a side that had been relegated, has to go down as one of 'those' signings. We'll get nowhere near what they'll want back for him and to be honest I wouldn't want us to.

To be fair, Fulham's relegation was the clubs own fault. From Martin Jol, to Rene Meulensteen to current manager in only one and a half season and with Felix Magath giving orders such as to cure Hangeland's bad knee with a cheese, cause the physio couldn't it cannot be other than the clubs mistake. When Hangeland went on a free to Crystal Palace, he got his notice by email, after being their captain for so many years.
Maybe it dosnt say much about McCormacks abilities but many players would have a tought ride in those conditions?
McCormack I think would be a great addition to the Celtic team, but maybe not the right one or one to afford.

Perfect opportunity for Neil Lennon to do a solid one and take a step towards making ammends for state he left club in, sign Forrest at end of season and relieve all our hearts of the suffering and pain endured anytime he is playing.
Wont hold my breath though. didn't ask for much when Lennon was manager. didn't think a better domestic cup record was too much to ask, but I could be wrong. I hope I am

Lennon was a great player for us and a good manager who had to put up with MUCH more than any one should have. He went as far as he could with us and to be honest stayed a year longer than he should have maybe but saying that I can't see why you have that much anger at him DN30? I think the board has to shoulder some of the blame for what state the club was in rightly or wrongly

Tony2bhoy I agree with you about the board shouldering some of the blame. They should of reflected on last time a rookie was appointed and trauma it caused (John Barnes). Lennon was thrown in at deep end and his inexperience was evident

Don't understand what you are going on about,a rookie thrown in at the deep end ,are you talking about rd?,where you at murrayfield for that lw game aswell,why did celtic start playing better when the two du players joined,who didn't have the benefits of rds training methods,nl might not have been celtics best manager but he was a long way from being the worst,

there are people currently in their twenties and thirties who will still ridicule Lennon when they are in their 60's and 70's. Just like nobody knows today why they are blathering away about him , their grandchildren won't either.m

Celtic have appointed experienced managers who haven't been much of a success either . Big Tony had plenty of experience but there was little sign of success only everyone was told to take it on the chin .

Well the National is almost here so as promised here are the Timalloy family tips. Mrs T likes AP McCoy so has chosen SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR, Daughter no 1 likes SPRINGHEELED, no 2 Daughter is on DRUIDS NEPHEW, so just my fancies BALTAZHAR KING, has been round the fences before, as has ACROSS THE BAY (40/1 outsider but as I am getting 6 places think he will sneak a place) REBEL REBELLION (had to pick it for my Irish roots) but my big punt will be on FIRST LIEUTENANT (Nina Carberry has jumped and won over the national fences, and there is always a story with the winner, the story this time is the first woman to win in over 50 years) Remember go each way, take the price as odds will fall closer to race time, check the ODDSCHECKER website which gives you good information on which bookmaker is offering the best price for horse you pick. Good luck everyone.

Great news today that the club is putting a statue of Billy McNeill in the Celtic Way.
A fitting tribute to a living legend who has served the club with distinction as a player, manager and ambassador.
For me McNeill is the greatest Celt that there's ever been, a true gentleman and someone we should all be proud of having associated with our wonderful club.

I agree it's great that the club are honouring him.
He was a terrific captain of a wonderful team, and because of his leadership, has given us the pride that we have in our club today.
Like all the players of that time, he wasn't motivated by money, just a love of playing football and for Celtic.
I am really pleased for him.

I agree, I'm so pleased the club are doing this while the big man can see and enjoy it. He is a legend, you never hear a bad word against him. Many moons ago he was manager when I was with the then boys club, he presented me with my club tie and my ma still has the photo on a wall somewhere, about 20 years later working in America as a painter I was at the celtic Convention in Vegas and the Lisbon lions were there (jinky was in great form) Big Billy had just gone through his heart surgery and it was touch and go if he would make it. He did and was last to leave, shaking hands with everyone. When I asked if he remembered the spotty kid from aviemore he did,he even remembered the name of my coach in the Highlands. Bobby Murdoch was getting worried that night and wanted to take him back to his hotel but like I say he wouldn't leave till he had shaken every hand and had a word with nearly every North American celtic fan. Living celtic legend and so deserves this. Markie

It's always nice to honour a person in their lifetime if possible. That's why it would be great to have Billy's commemoration when he is still alive . Of course we could build a statue to Mc Grory as well, also a worthy recipitent .
